《The Snake In My Dreams》Ch. 2

Remus woke up handcuffed to the floor of a cage surrounded by fire. Okay, if he thought the last dream was cool, then this was WAY cooler.
He appeared to be at a circus. The ringmaster (who was identical to Patton) gestured to him, a broad smile on his face. "And tonight we have the amazing, the spectacular, The Daring Duke!" The crowd went wild, making Remus' heart swell.
Remus bowed to the audience, the Imagination telling him what he has to do.
"In tonight's act," The ringmaster smirked. "he will have to escape from his fiery prison before time runs out, otherwise he will be dragged down to the depths of Hell!" The ringmaster laughed in a way that seemed so unnatural coming out of Patton.
Remus attempted to speak, testing if he had dialogue in this dream or not. When a loud whoop came out of his mouth instead of the words he wanted to say, he assumed he did.
"Well ladies, gentlemen, and non-binary audience members? Do you think he can do it?!" The ringmaster gestured to him again. The crowd cheered louder.
Suddenly, the cage began moving downwards towards the fire. Remus grinned wildly, his body moving on its own.
He took a hair pin out of his hair. He had absolutely no idea what it was holding up, but that didn't seem to matter at the moment.
He began fiddling with the handcuffs. After a moment, they clicked open and Remus moved on to the next part of his escape.
The cage didn't seem to have a door, and Remus wondered how he got inside. He shrugged, dreams were weird.
He began kicking one of the bars. For some reason, it worked and it snapped off.
The space still wasn't big enough to go through, so he kicked off another one.

Remus climbed on top of the cage, grabbing the wire that it was connected to the ceiling from.
The only way out was to jump, but the fall would certainly leave him with a broken arm or two.
"How will he solve this conundrum and get back home to his husband? Oh, the suspense is killing me!" The ringmaster exclaimed.
Remus jerked his head up.
Husband?
Caught off guard, he lost his balance and fell off the cage.
Just before he could be engulfed in the flames, the scene went completely blank.
Remus sank out and appeared in his room.
"Okay, what the fuck?" Remus mumbled to himself.
Surely this must be a coincidence. There was no way his dream would have a love interest twice in a row.
Was there?
Remus huffed and walked out of his room. He'd go to bed that night and he'd have no love interest at all. It would be just like normal.
---
Remus woke up the next day in a warm embrace. He shifted in the person's arms, cuddling into them.
They chuckled, and Remus' mind caught up as to what exactly was happening at the moment.
He snapped his eyes open, and looked up at them.
"Hey there, sunshine." Deceit said softly. Remus squawked and scrambled away from him, figuring Deceit must have wandered into the Imagination while Remus was asleep.
"Woah, hey, calm down." Deceit smiled gently. "It's just me."
"Dee?" Remus asked, surprised that he could talk for himself in this one. Deceit nodded.
"Did you have a bad dream, love?" Deceit asked, walking over to Remus and offering him a hand.
"Bad...dream...?" He asked, taking Deceit's hand. Remus looked around as he stood up.
They seemed to be in Deceit's room. Remus' brow furrowed. This was definitely not the Imagination.

"Wait," Remus had finally processed what Deceit had actually said. "did you just call me 'love'?" He asked, a confused expression on his face.
"Of course." Deceit smiled, placing a hand on Remus' back and gently pulling Remus towards him. "You're the love of my life."
Remus turned bright red. "Wh-What?" He asked.
Deceit grabbed Remus' chin and tilted his head up so he was looking at him. Remus stared back with big brown eyes, still unsure as to what was happening.
Deceit placed a gentle kiss on Remus' lips.
Remus' eyes widened comically, his thoughts going wild.
Deceit pulled away, and let him go. "Wh-What is--" Remus stammered, his entire face as red as a tomato.
Suddenly, the entirety of Deceit's room disappeared. Remus looked around, and the Imagination stared back at him.
He looked back at Deceit, only to find him not there anymore.
Remus finally understood what had just happened.
That was a dream.
That was his dream.
THAT WAS HIS DREAM.
Remus somehow turned even more red, feeling like he could pass out.
He began pacing frantically, running his hands through his hair. Why would he dream about that? Why would he dream about that?
Remus took a deep breath. There was a logical explanation for this. People had dreams about kissing their best friend all the time. This wasn't unusual.
It was just a fluke, it would never happen again.
Remus sank out and appeared in the living room. "Hey Remus? Do you know where my gloves are?" Deceit asked as he walked in.
Remus turned bright pink. "No! I-I don't! They're probably not in here though! I-I'll go look for them!" He stammered as he walked past Deceit and towards the door.
"Oh, you don't need to--"
"I insist!"
