《The Snake In My Dreams》Ch. 1

Remus woke up with a rope tied around his ankles, hanging him upside down from the ceiling.

He yawned, having not fully awaken yet. He looked around, taking in more of his surroundings. He appeared to be in a dungeon of sorts, and the rope was actually chains.

An orc (that suspiciously resembled Roman) marched towards him, a sneer on his face. "Remus Sanders, I finally have you in my grasp."

"You'll never get away with this." Remus' line tumbled out of his mouth, and he internally groaned. He hated it when he had dialogue, it meant he wouldn't be able to speak for himself until he left the Imagination.

"Oh? And who on earth could stop me?" The orc smirked. "I've killed all your allies? Do you forget?"

"What?!" Remus asked, bored beyond belief. "You've slain my pets?!"

Remus laughed internally. Of course his dream involved the murder of animals, cause why not?

"That is right, oh brave one." The orc bared his teeth into what barely resembled a smile. "You shall never save your prince now."

Remus perked up. Prince? That was new one.

"I swear on my life that I will never see the two of you wed!" Remus heard himself bark, though he was barely aware of it. He was more focused on finding out who "his prince" was.

"Well, it's a good thing that I shall strike you down before you can see it." The orc smirked.

Suddenly, Remus broke out of the chains and pulled a sword out of nowhere. The moves automatically came to Remus, as he flipped over the club of the orc.

He delivered one swift slash that cut the head of the orc clean off.

The orc had blue blood, and Remus found that incredibly cool.

This dream was pretty sweet, he decided.

You're probably confused as to what's going on right now.

Remus Sanders had always been a little more unstable than Roman, everyone knew that.

But what everyone didn't know is that unlike his brother, Remus awoke every day without any recollection of his dreams.

Still, he could tell you with amazing detail about what they were about.

How, you ask?

When the Imagination was split, Remus got the darker, harder to control side. Ever since then, he'd awake to find that his subconscious had taken hold of the Imagination and morphed it into what Remus had dreamed about. Much like Roman's adventures, Remus was usually the protagonist.

In other words, Remus woke up every day to find that he had become the main character of his dream, and would now live through it.

Once the dream concluded, the Imagination would go blank yet again, and Remus would leave to face the day.

So Remus began his journey, wondering where on earth he was going.

He appeared to be following a path in the middle of a forest. The blue blood that was splattered across his chest became red, which he shrugged off because dreams often didn't make sense.

He appeared in front of a tower, one that looked almost exactly like the one in Tangled.

Remus began his journey upwards, excited. Huge tower often leads to someone being inside. Was he finally going to meet his prince?

Just as he got to the window, his surroundings flickered and disappeared.

He fell to the floor, landing on his butt. After a few dazed moments, he let an annoyed scowl overtake his face. After pounding a frustrated hand on the floor, he huffed.

Had to cut it off at the good part, huh?

He stood up, and sank out.

He rose up in the dark mind palace common room, an annoyed expression on his face.

"What's wrong?" Someone behind him asked. He whirled around and spotted Deceit sitting on the couch.

"What do you mean?" Remus asked.

"You were so stiff, what's up?" Deceit asked, tilting his head slightly. Remus tsked and crossed his arms.

"Dreams." Remus mumbled.

"Did you have a nightmare?" Deceit asked, a concerned look on his face.

"No, not anything like that. I woke up right when I got to the good part." Remus pouted, and Deceit snorted.

"Oh, poor baby. Go eat something." Deceit chuckled, going back to what he was doing.

Remus had never told anyone about his dreams, figuring it wasn't important. All Deceit knew, was that his nightmares got bad.

Remus hummed as he walked into the kitchen, looking for something to eat.

He couldn't help but noticed the excessive amount of water bottles in the fridge. Virgil always stocked up in fear of them running out.

Remus frowned a little, scolding himself for thinking about Virgil. Virgil was a light side now. He didn't need them, so Remus didn't need him.

Remus huffed, grabbing a raw steak. He put it in the blender and turned it on, while he thought back to his dream.

Who on earth could that prince be? He only caught a glimpse of him before the dream faded away.

The human brain cannot come up with unique human faces, Logan had told him that once. He assumed his brain worked the same way.

Remus had only ever interacted with Thomas' friends and the other sides. Meaning, the roles in his dreams were often filled by one of them.

The role of the prince, which was usually occupied by Roman, couldn't have been him today. He was the orc.

So who--

"Remus! I'm sure it's been blended enough! Could you turn the blasted thing off?" Deceit yelled from the living room.

Remus obeyed this command, and poured himself a glass. He didn't know why he was so bothered about this anyways.

Probably because he had never had a love interest in one of his dreams before.
