《naruto character one shots》Milk & Honey {Naruto Uzumaki}

The high pitched wail of the tea kettle startled you from your daydream, steam hissing from its spout. Already a mug in hand, you poured the steaming hot water and plopped in a bag of green ginger tea. You spooned in a religious amount of honey and sugar, only whirling around the spoon several times before tossing the used silverware into the sink with a clang, drowning in the abyss of water murky with soap and grime.
Your frame stood unabashed in front of the window sill, the sun's hearth, a sigh of pleasure escaping your lips as the sun's rays splashed your face instantly basking you with vitamin D. Your lips met your steaming mug of green tea, the sticky, syrupy honeycomb sticking to your lips; your heart warmed by the therapeutic beverage.
Hugging your cardigan tighter to your body you allowed yourself to relax, taking in your surroundings.
Your kitchen was cozy and fairly tidy. A bundle of freckling bananas and shiny, honey-crisp apples lay untouched, the bowl of fruit a classic kitchen décor necessity. The island was granite and the cabinets were of rich mahogany stained to perfection, achieving a very rustic, classic feel. The curtains adorning the windows were dusty pastels, peaches and lilac, sky blue and mint green, etched into a whimsical embroider. You're so grateful for everything you have, when you were a child these were things you longed for and dreamed about.
Growing up you resided in a village plagued with poverty, famine, and war. Riches and luxuries were just that: riches and luxuries- unattainable to the common folk who slaved at farms, desperately searched for jobs, and were away from home fighting for a lost cause.
It wasn't until your village allied with Konohagakure, the Village Hidden in the Leaves, that you won the war and found a new home in that very village that saved your life.

Konoha didn't suffer from poverty or hunger; it was the land of milk and honey. Riches are abundant and luxuries are plentiful, the village itself a beautiful glittering beacon of hope. It's a place worth fighting for. And although you may not be a ninja who fights for her village, you admire those who do and have fallen in love with the only person who couldn't possibly love it any more.
Naruto is without a doubt Konoha's strongest, most loyal ninja. This also means he's absent from home quite often. Sure, you feel gloomy and melancholy spending so much time by yourself, but you don't let it get to you. Like I said, you're eternally gracious for what you have and if Naruto was home all the time you wouldn't have all the things you're blessed with.
The front door opened and closed with a squeak and a small smile awoke your features. You felt his arms circle your waist and titled your head into his presence. His eyes shone periwinkle, his headband glistening with valor. He bent down placing a long, chaste kiss against your forehead; he was so close you could see the whisker-like markings etched into his ivory complexion. Your eyes closed, if you were a cat you'd be purring; leave it to Naruto to be able to blow the sadness out of you like a candle with just the slightest touch.
"Welcome home, Lord Hokage," you declared, feeling a deep, tired sigh release from your lover's lips. His hand tightened tenderly around your waist, as if he couldn't be more close to you.
Seemingly out of nowhere, he was placing an orange hibiscus flower into your amber locks, nestling it into the curls of your hair. His arms wrapped around your frame and his chest rested atop your shoulder, right in the crook of your neck, his eyes looking longingly outside the window where now in the sky was the beginning of a liquid sunset: cotton candy and molten gold, the color palette of a god.

The feeling of his breathe against your neck and the lingering presence of his lips on your forehead put you in an everlasting state of tranquility. You heart felt warm and the happiness radiated from your pores.
You truly do live in a land flowing with milk and honey.
