《Dear Insanity》xWithout The Bitter, The Sweet Isn't As Sweetx

I'm absolutely loving all of the reads i've been getting on this story c: Most of you said that Alexxa and Gabriel have been taking it slow, but you have to see this in their point of views. Gabriel probably wants to start something with her ( I think that's quite obvious ) but respects her distance. Alexxa on the other hand, doesn't know how to trust. Would you trust a random boy if your entire family killed themselves on your birthday? She's just letting him touch her, and recently started talking. That's a great milestone for her, and eventually things will get more intense, you horny weirdos.

Dedicated to Corrrinn, for commenting and voting for every chapter I've written :3 Thanks so much (:

By the way, BONUS CHAPTER RIGHT NOWW! For all of the people who love Gabriel (:

(Gabriel's POV)

Waking up with a sleeping body in your arms is one of the best feelings. What makes it even better is that it's Alexxa's. After hours of crying in her sleep she had finally calmed down, resting her small head on my chest and shaking her head softly. I wondered what her dreams were about, if they were the reason she was so distrustful.

I knew almost nothing about her, but yearned for more information. There were only two things I was positive of- Her name, and that her family had died. The night at the cemetery when she went mental on me, I saw three gravestones that she had been lying by. Christofer, Alexxa, and Matthew. The two were her parents, I was sure, judging by their date of birth. Christofer had to be her brother, or a cousin or something. They all died in the same year, which was strange.

Was there a freak accident or something that she had been in? I wanted to know why she was in an institution for two years, why she had moments where she forgot everything and got drunk to forget. I wanted to help her, so badly, but she wouldn't let me in.

It was late afternoon when I finally awoke again, in the same position as before. Only this time, Alexxa's forehead was pressed to my nose, breathing warm against my neck. I supressed a shiver, checking my phone with the hand that wasn't around her waist. There was a message from Kira, and a missed call from Nash.

Huh. The message from Kira was just a simple 'hey', which I replied to without a second thought. Alexxa stirred lightly in my arms as I let out a sigh, not wanting to but having to go back to my apartment. I pulled away from her grip, not being able to stop my lips from pressing to her forehead.

That was all it took for her to wake up, murmuring something that sounded a hell of a lot like "Chase?"

I shook my head, sitting up. "Who's Chase?"

She went back to being silent, biting her lip and looking down. I shrugged it off, running a hand through my hair. "I have to go," I said softly, pulling the covers off my legs and staring past her at the snow layering the backyard.

I watched her drag herself upright, looking insanely adorable as she yawned, covering her mouth with one of her unmanicured hands. She nodded, a look in her blue eyes that made me want to lay back down with her. Instead I bit the inside of my cheek, glancing at her ivory features and leaning over to peck her cheek.

On instinct, she flinched away, but I could feel her melt into my embrace. "I'll pick you up tommorow for class," I told her, standing and grabbing my vans.

"Goodbye," she whispered suddenly, her voice hoarse.

I turned and smiled at her as I grabbed my keys off the bookshelf. "Goodbye," I repeated, a smile growing on her own. "Will you be okay? I'm not sure if Luna's home."

She nodded, just as I heard, "Liar!"

Luna looked exhausted, bags underneath her eyes. Dressed in a baggy sweater and shorts, she was barefoot, her hair a mess of tangles. For the hell of it, I leaned over and gave her cheek a kiss. Luna blushed, patting my cheek. "I'll see you tomorrow night," she said.

Alexxa rose a questioning eyebrow. See, Luna and I had made an agreement. Since every other night she has to work the night shift at the cafe, I spent every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday here. She offered to pay me, like a babysitter, but I wouldn't hear of it. Maybe if I spent enough time with her, she'd open up to me.

"Okay-" I started to explain to Alexxa, when my phone rang. Giving them an apologetic look, I said a quick goodbye, answering it on the fifth ring. "What's up?" I answered, playing with my keys and hopping into my black Chevy.

"Hey," Kira chirped. I smiled, tapping my fingertips on the steering wheel. After checking to make sure no cars were coming up behind me, I started the engine, driving off towards my house.

"Morning," I greeted.

She laughed. "It's three o clock in the afternoon, Gabriel."

I returned it. "Oh," I muttered, not having anything else to say. Kira was a great girl, and pretty damn cute too, but I don't think I could have feelings for her even if I tried. She reminded me too much of a sister I'd wanted but never got.

"So do you want to grab Subway in a few and walk around or something?" She asked.

I nodded, forgetting completely she couldn't see me. "Sounds good," I said, "Want me to pick you up?"

She gave me her address, and instead of going back to my Apartment like I wanted to, I drove up the street to where she directed me. A girl sat on the steps, her black hair falling over her shoulders and grazing her knees. As I killed the engine, she grinned, standing and wandering to where the truck sat.

I laughed as she attempted to get into it, but tripped and had to grab onto the handle. At that I cringed- She better not hurt my truck. "Clumsy," I stated, leaning over and kissing her cheek like I had with Luna and Alexxa.

She made a face. "Ew, hetero p.d.a. . ."

I grinned, wiggling my eyebrows. "Don't tell me you don't like it," I teased.

She wiped her cheek, glaring at me. "Unless there's a lady down there, I'm not sure I enjoy that."

"Remind me why you're not out of the closet again?"

Her face softened and she let out a sigh. "My parents. And friends."

I rolled my eyes. "Alexxa wouldn't care."

Kira was a lesbian, plain and simple. She pretended to have feelings for boys to please her friends and family, and went as far as flirting with boys. A part of me thought that she didn't want to be that way and was trying to cure herself of it, but I never really dwell ed on it too much.

My mind has been too clouded with Alexxa.

"I know. . . It's just. . ." She broke off, leaning her head against the window and glancing out at the snow. I nodded, understanding a bit, and squeezed her cold hand. It wasn't as rough as Alexxa's, who had stiff marks on her fingers from guitar playing, but it was nice.

"Does Georgia know you're still in the closet?"

Georgia was her girlfriend of two years. They met just after Alexxa went into the institution -which I still don't know why- and immediately fell into love. Seeing as Georgia's parents were both guys, they accepted her almost instantaneously when she came out. "Yeah," she replied quietly. "She said she'd wait for me."

I smiled at that. She sounded like a sweet girl. "Do you want to visit her?" I asked. She gave me one of those looks that said she really wanted to but didn't want to burden me, but I waved it off. "I want to meet her, anyways." I said.

She nodded, pointing out where to go. Eventually we stopped at a sea-foam colored house, the shutters a deep crimson and the door mahogany. A calm look passed over her features before she hurriedly unbuckled her seat belt, opening the door and walking up the stairs to the front door.

Rolling my eyes at her eagerness, I left my truck, wandering up behind her with my thumbs in my front pockets. She bounced as she rang the doorbell, smiling widely when a girl with long, purple-streaked hair opened the door. "Kira, hi," She grinned.

"Hey," Kira's tone softened and she shyly ran a hand through her hair. No longer was she excited and cocky like she always was, but self conscious and soft spoken.

"Who's at the door?" A deep, male voice called out in question.

"Just Kira and her friend!" She shouted back, glancing at me. "And who are you, exactly?" She wasn't snapping, or being rude, just questioning me. Her brown eyes were soft as she looked me over, reaching towards Kira and taking her hand.

"I'm Gabriel." I answered. She cocked an eyebrow, waiting for more information. "I'm a friend of her friend."

Kira punched my shoulder, none too lightly, and stuck her tongue out. "What, we aren't friends?"

I rose my hands in surrender, making Georgia snicker. "Calm down, babe," She chuckled.

She gave me a glare that said 'we-aren't-done-here', but followed Georgia with puppy dog eyes as we went inside. The living room was made up of three couches, all the same green as the exterior color of the house, with a tiny little television propped up on a stack books in the middle of the room. A chandelier made of cd's hung from the ceiling, and a mini fridge buzzed underneath a small table. The room itself was creative, and I loved every second of it.

I'm sure Alexxa would too, if Kira would come out to her best friend already. They sat on the love seat , curled up into one another already, and mumbled to themselves as I looked into the doorway. A man, about the same height and build as I with black hair and brown eyes smiled at the couple, not even noticing me yet.

I bit my lip, glancing up at the ceiling. "Hey, Kira. Want a drink or something?"

She grinned at him while I averted my attention back to them. "A beer," She said. I rose an eyebrow at the same time that he did, making her giggle. "Fine," She sighed, rolling her eyes, "Some apple juice."

I laughed at that, crossing my arms over my chest and leaning back in the sea green couch. "Oh!" The man suddenly exclaimed. "Vic, we have a visitor!"

Another guy, apparently known as Vic, popped his head into the doorway before smiling brightly. "And who are you?" He drawled, clearly teasing me.

I straightened. "I'm Gabriel," I repeated myself.

"Are you another one of Kira's fake boyfriends?" He questioned.

I shrugged. "Something like that."

"Oh," his green eyes brightened. "Well, I'm Vic, and that's Ricky." He leaned over, ruffling Ricky's hair. He scrunched up his face, biting the tip of Vic's finger.

"Stahpit." He mumbled, his finger between his lips.

Kira and Georgia rolled their eyes in sync, obviously witnessed this exchange before. Vic winced as he bit harder, tugging his hand away. "Jeez," he backed away. "You're so violent."

Ricky laughed breezily, sitting himself down next to me. "We've been together for like, 8 years. You know my ways."

At that, Vic took the spot to my right and swung his arm around me with another sigh. "Remind me why I love you?"

Ricky wiggled his eyebrows. "Because," he purred, leaning over me to whisper something in his ear. Vic turned bright red, covering his face with his hands.

"Riickkyy!" He whined. "That's so gross!"

"That's not what you said last night," he commented slyly.

Georgia groaned. "Jesus, Dad, you still do that?"

He scoffed, as well as Vic, who looked offended. "We're twenty five old, George, not fifty!"

They fought like siblings- I found it funny. "It's still weird," she whined.

"That would mean . . ." I furrowed my eyebrows together, doing the math. "One of you was nine years old when you had Georgia?"

They laughed. "Adopted," She explained, right when Ricky and Vic high fived across from me.

"Who's up for call of duty?" Vic said out of the blue. I halfheartedly raised my hand, not having much else to do today, and was greeted with a cheer from both.

"C'mon, lets do it."

"Oh, deja vu," Ricky said, sounding comically breathless.

"Babe!" Vic cried out, blushing again. "Stop it!"

He leaned over me to kiss his cheek. "Aw, you know I can't help myself. Maybe you should just stop making pornographic references. . ."

They shared a look. "Not gonna happen."

Kira and Georgia stood, a lusty look in their eyes. "We're, um, gonna go, um, watch a movie. . ." Georgia started heavily.

"If you need me. . .Don't bother." Kira finished, and with that, ran up the stairs with Georgia following behind.

Vic sighed. "Horny lesbians."

Picture of Kira on the side.

The song is Without The Bitter, The Sweet Isn't As Sweet, by Mayday Parade. It's pretty much about how happy endings couldnt happen without the sadness, and this chapter shows a part of the happiness <3 besides the fact that this one was in GABRIEL'S POV!

and thank you, PrettyLittleRebel, for pointing out the fact that I put 'mouth' instead of 'hand'. That might've screwed with a bunch of you.

THEY. HAVEN'T. KISSED.

kay?

Kay.

I'ma start something :P it's called author confession, and it looks fun :3

Author Confession #1:

Gabriel was never intended to come into the story as a romantic figure. It just sort of spun out that way... Originally, she was supposed to run into her ex boyfriend and things would happen from there.

Do you like this way better, or would you rather have it with her exx? Im not changing anything, just open for thoughts ;)
