madelyn awoke to the load sound of her alarm. she shot up, looking for her phone to turn it off.
she checked the time, it read 9:45
"holy shit karev, we're gonna be late!" madelyn yelled. she got out from under his covers and ran to the bathroom to get ready.
quickly, she threw her clothes on and made sure karev was ready.
"alex, are you ready to go yet?" she yelled.
"yeah, yeah. i'm coming." he mumbled.
💙💙💙
"now, mrs. davidson, this form simply says you consent to the donation of your husbands major organs, heart, lung, liver, and kidneys." madelyn explained to the woman, handing her a form to sign.
mrs. davidson signed the form and handed it back to madelyn.
"now, i need to ask you a few questions. are you willing to donate his corneas?" madelyn asked.
"you want his eyes?" she repeated.
"um, corneal transplants can give someone back their sight."
"i suppose that's okay."
madelyn handed the form to mrs. davidson, who signed it and handed it back to her.
"what about his skin?"
"what?"
"it's used to help burn victims."
"you want to cut off his skin? what about the funeral? you want to me to have a funeral and have people look at him, have his daughter look at her father, and he doesn't have any skin? it's his skin!" the widow protested.
the wife started to cry and madelyn got up and walked out of the room, followed by bailey.
"what are you doing?" she asked.
"i'm not a people person."
"no kidding."
"i can't do that. i can't talk to the families of patients. i'm sorry."
"what's his name?"
"who?"
"the patient. what's his name?"

"kevin davidson."
"remember that. no gorked guy, not john doe, kevin davidson. he's someone's husband. someone's son. not a collection of body parts to harvest. a person. now, no one said this was easy." bailey lectured.
madelyn nodded, taking a deep breath and walking back into the room.
💙💙💙
"derek. derek!" madelyn called. derek turned around,
"yes madelyn?"
"i have to tell you something. and you can't comment, make a face, or react in any way cause you slept with my sister, okay?"
derek nodded.
"okay, here it goes. i slept with alex karev." madelyn said quickly.
"you what?" derek half whispered.
"i went to his apartment yesterday cause izzie and george were getting on my nerves, and one thing led to another, i told him i didn't hate him, and it just happened." madelyn explained.
"did you tell meredith?"
"no! she hates the guy. derek i don't know what to do, he was my only friend besides for you! what does this mean for him and i?"
"why don't you talk about if with him?"
"that's an awkward conversation waiting to happen."
"it's gonna happen anyway, you know."
"i know." madelyn pouted,
"might as well get it over with." she mumbled.
"thanks derek." and with that, she walked away to go talk about the one thing she didn't want to confront.
💙💙💙
madelyn paged alex to one of the on-call rooms, so they could get some privacy. he was there when she showed up.
"hey, alex!" she started, twirling her thumbs, not really knowing what to say. he took a step closer to her, making her butterflies go wild.
"i just wanted to talk about," she was cut off by him crashing his lips to her.

"hey hey, derek!" madelyn said guiltily.
"what did you do?" he asked.
"well, interesting story. so, i paged karev to an on-call room to talk about, you know what. so, long story short, we did not talk."
"you did it again." derek confirmed.
"i did. i did do it again." madelyn admited.
"it's only gonna get worse." he warned.
"i know, but right now it's so good."
derek rolled his eyes.
"here, go do some sutures for me. distract yourself." derek ordered, madelyn took the patient file and nodded, heading to the trauma pit.
💙💙💙
"hello, i'm dr. grey and i'll be doing your sutures today." madelyn said, looking at the attractive man sitting on the hospital bed.
"hi i'm harry. harry goodman." he introduced.
madelyn pulled up a chair and sat beside his arm, where 4 inch long, 3 centimeter deep cut was placed.
madelyn pulled out her suture kit and gloves, and started sanitizing the needle and thread.
"are all the doctors here hot?" harry flirted. madelyn blushed, but did her best to hide it.
"someone has already come down here and frozen the cut, correct?" madelyn asked.
"that's correct." harry smirked.
madelyn bit her lip, looking down at the task at hand.
she carefully threaded the needle, and started to stitch the wound.
"tell me if it hurts." said madelyn. harry gave her a nod.
after about twenty minutes, madelyn had sutured the whole wound. she stood up, taking her gloves off.
"okay. we are all done. you're good to go."
"can't go before i got your number."
"i'm your doctor."
"not anymore. i'm free to go."
"fine. but only so i can check up on that cut, okay?"
"fine by me."
madelyn grabbed a pen and a note pad, writing down a 7 digit number, ripping off a piece and handing it to harry.
he smiled, folding the paper and shoving it in his pocket and walking out of the patient room.
madelyn was cleaning up, when she was surprised by two hands grabbing her waist and spinning her around.
she was met by a pair of two very familiar eyes.
"karev. you scared me."
"just wanted to see how you were doing." karev explained, causing her to smile.
alex bent his head down, kissing her lips softly. after a second, madelyn pulled away. she looked up at alex, building up the courage to ask him the question.
"what are we?"

Cultivating Earth [Hiatus]
[This fiction is on indefinite hiatus. I'm currently acting as a 24-hour caregiver for my step-father who had a massive heart attack. I apologize for disappearing so quickly, but sometimes that's just life. I'll return as soon as possible. Sorry everyone!] Zhao Gang, after hundreds of thousands of years cultivating, has finally reached the penultimate threshold. He is ready to ascend to the level of True Immortal. Driven by the need for a place his enemies won't find him, Zhao Gang puts together an audacious plan. He has developed a revolutionary new formation which will allow him to ascend while on even the lowest planes. To avoid drawing attention, he has to choose a plane that is relatively desolate, however. He chooses Earth. Fast forward three thousand years. Zhao Gang discovers what his work has wrought - a cultivation-free culture that has delved the deep mysteries of creation - he can't help but think how this tiny little planet devoid of natural energy could affect the course of all creation. There's only one problem. For that to happen, he has to succeed in cultivating Earth. Notes: Chinese names should be ignored in the social context - they don't mean anything. Sorry for slaughtering such a beautiful tradition. This novel starts off slower than most. If the slow-roll isn't your thing, you might want to give this a pass. If it's not for you, I understand. Also, releases may be broken up into smaller chunks. The goal is 5k words, but definitely more than 4k. If you see a short release, be aware that more is probably coming. I'll be honest and say that I'm struggling with each new scene, if only because I want to balance the scope of vision with good pacing. I hope the work I put into it is worthwhile.
