"How is she doing?" I asked in the phone. On the other side was Sister Mary, the head of The Rainbow Children's Orphanage.

"She is having fun, don't worry, sweetie." Sr. Mary said in her usual cheery tone. She was a really sweet and kind woman, a very good mother figure to the kids of the orphanage.

"I miss her already. When can I bring her home?" I whined as sister Mary chuckled. I totally acted like a child but I really missed my daughter, Avery.

Avery is my adopted child, she is 10 years of age. An accident took away her eyesight when she was only 2. Wherever she belonged to, I can say she wasn't treated well. The child had deep scars on her body. Her childhood was a blur and black and dead to her. She remembered nothing at all, obviously she was just 2.

I still remember when the sisters found her in the cold winter night, lying unconscious on the steps of the orphanage. That night I was staying in the orphanage with the children. From that night on, I wanted to give all the happiness that this little girl deserved. The girl looked so fragile and lonely and battered that night, it tore my heart to see her like that. A girl of her age is deserved to be treated as a princess.

I was the only person who was there sitting beside her in the middle of the night when she opened her eyes. After her medications we were informed that she can't see. Though we doubted that with her actions because she did everything on her own.

Over the years, I tried my level best to cure her but everything seemed to fail. Finally last year in London, the doctors confirmed that she is safe to have an eye surgery. After adopting her my goal was to give her everything she deserves. First, her eyes. And finally, I moved ahead to get my success.

"Ashna? Honey, are you there?" I heard a voice in the phone that I was still holding. Her voice snapped me out of my thoughts. Sister Mary was still on the line.

"Yes sister, so when can I bring her back?" I asked while coming out of my thoughts and focusing on the person at the other side of the phone.

"At evening come and pick up your little angel." I can clearly picture the smile on Sister's face which masked mine with a similar one too. My daughter was my happiness.

"OK, have a nice day sister."

We hung up the phone after that and I let out a contented sigh. I'll have my angel home finally. If I had supernatural powers, I wouldn't let her out of my sight for even a second.

10 minutes later.

My personal assistant came rushing into my cabin, huffing and taking deep breaths, looking like a zombie with thick black rimmed glasses and black hair properly made.

"I apologise mam, but this lady..."

Before she could complete, a tall woman with a plastic face barged inside my cabin unceremoniously.

It was none other than The witch. Remember, every story has a witch to deal with. No story is complete without a villain in it.

"What do you think..." the witch started yelling. Jesus! How people tolerate her screeching voice?!

Before she could complete her blabbering, "Does this lady have an appointment with me now?" I asked my P.A with a straight face but I was quite amused with the present situation. Obviously, they didn't have to know that. But my PA looked she would faint right now.

"No mam." She replied in a nervous voice. Almost panic stricken! Poor girl.

I held up my hand, signalling my P.A to leave with hand gestures.

The witch who was standing in front of me now, grabbed the chair to have a seat. I'm not at all surprised with this behaviour, she did worse. We have shared the worst history of our lives....correction - my life.

"What do you think of yourself?" Witch gritted her teeth. By now you might have noticed that I like calling her a witch because no other name suits her best. A female dog would sound much better but dogs will be insulted if I compare this woman to them.

"What do you want?" I asked, totally bored. She is always here to waste my time.

"How could you put Annie in my place?" My eyes went wide from her accusation. Was that even an appropriate question to ask? I rolled my eyes. She should know better.

"You really want to know the reason?" I smirked. Totally enjoying this.

"Yes!" She bellowed.

I pointed my finger at her. "Keep your voice down, lady!" I said in a very stern voice that can freeze the volcanoes.

She kept quite and I continued, "Well, you see, Annie is just perfect and I like perfection."

"No she is not, I'm perfect, she is fat." Witch gritted her teeth again. I swear her teeth will get jammed one day and never open up again.

"You are a walking stick." I murmured loud enough for her to hear. She is the thinnest straw, I would better say. Even a walking stick is fatter than her.

"What did you just say?!" Witch yelled, my ear drums are about to burst. Which part did I say was wrong? Stupid woman!

"You heard me." I smirked again. Oh, I'm loving it.

"You're messing with Natasha! You'll pay for this!" Natasha the witch, fumed with rage. She should really buy a new book of dialogues. Repeating the old ones are getting boring for my ears. And Wow... This one really came out from an Indian daily soap, I swear.

"But before that let me treat you properly." I punched the security alert which was under my table and smirked at her.

She had a confused look on her over-bleached face. At that very moment, the guards came in.

"Please throw this lady out of this building, make sure she doesn't get hurt. She is a supermodel after all." Sarcasm dripping from my mouth. The bitch inside me laughed her guts out at Natasha's shocked expression.

The guards pushed her out of the building. I heard my employees laugh at Natasha's misery. Her face was worth of million-dollars right now. How do those teenagers do it? Take a picture and post it in Facebook. Exactly! Her picture must be taken right now and posted on Facebook. It was priceless!

Cruel much, Ashna? I removed the thought as soon as it came to my head.

"You really did that?" Annie couldn't keep a straight face and burst out laughing. My best friend would have done worse to her, I'm sure.

Avery and I came home from the orphanage and Annie came at dinner time. Annie was a member of my little family.

"Why is aunt Ann laughing like that?" Avery asked hearing Annie's boisterous laughter. She seems confused by the commotion around her.

"You know sweetie, your momma kicked Natasha auntie out of her office." And again Annie was laughing. Her laugh was contagious because it made me want to laugh too.

I rolled my eyes. "You really did that momma?" Avery was also laughing.

Guess what, Avery also didn't like that witch. No one is a fan of her, excluding those boys in high school and some men who want to grab hold of her fake round ass.

Once Natasha called Avery blind and my little baby was crying for that witch. I just hate her, she made my baby cry, me cry. I wonder what people get by insulting others? In this case, a child got insulted by an adult, publicly.

"Yes!" I said smiling.

Avery clapped her little hands and did "Yay!"

All three of us laughed heartily. I know it's not good to teach my daughter to laugh at someone's misery but I think you learn to live life in a hard way. Sometimes, you should payback and only sometimes you should forgive.

Few minutes later we were sitting at the wooden dining table and having dinner. It was a quite, happy evening with the aroma of home cooked food.

"I need a break!" Annie exclaimed suddenly. Oh! It's that time. Break time. My best friend has her stupid moments.

I know her sudden changes in mood. "Go for an holiday." I told her casually. "But for 3 days only." She was under a contract with my company for two years, a year of which is passed already. Technically, she works under me.

"Yay!" She exclaimed again. "You're coming too."

"No, I can't come." I declined immediately.

"Momma you should go, then I'll also go for the picnic with my orphanage buddies in Darjeeling." Avery announced excitedly.

"When did that happen?" I narrowed my eyes and asked. God only knows when and what they decide without informing me.

"Long back, you were busy momma so I didn't tell you then momma and Sr. Mary and everyone will be coming and I'll call you every one hour..."

"But..." I hesitate. Will it be safe? I can trust Sr. Mary but still should I send her?

"Please momma say yes." Avery made her trademark puppy dog eyes which gets to me every time.

"Do I even have a choice?" I sighed.

"No." Annie and Avery said in unison.

Both of them were happy and grinning, so was I. If they both wanted to take a break and enjoy then who am I to stop them from having fun?

"Darjeeling?" Annie asked, confirming the place which we'll visit.

"Darjeeling!" Avery exclaimed in agreement.
