《The Thorned Rose》12

New levels of boredom that I had never felt before ran through me. The Russo's excited me, they made me feel an emotion, although it was anger, it wasn't so bad. I quite liked it to be honest! I swear, I have a deathwish or something. I opened my computer and hacked back in to the Russo's system.

'What do you want with me?' was the first note that appeared on the big TV screen. Only Romeo was in there, but he called in everyone else and they quickly ran to the room, all sitting around and reading the note.

"How the fuck are we supposed to contact her?" asked Mateo, loudly, standing up and waving his arms around.

'I'm listening, Mateo.'

"Fuck," he sat down.

'Why are you looking for me? Stop looking for me.'

"We wanted to offer you a job," stated Fabri.

'I have a job.'

"I haven't seen you working recently. People think you are dead."

'Maybe I am dead, maybe this isn't me.'

"I know you're alive."

'The only reason I can't do my damn job anymore is because you lot are searching for me. Stop looking, then I can do my job.'

"Fine. We will stop looking, continue with your job, but our offer stands, and if you ever want to come back and work for us, we will welcome you."

"Hey! I don't want that bitch here" protested Rico.

"Fuck off Rico," spat Fabricio.

'Hope you got your car back. Goodbye all.'

I turned my computer off and went to sleep. In the morning I told Nadia, and she gave me my first job. Fuck yes. I was so excited. I had to fly all the way to Nice, France, to assassinate someone who conned a lot of money out of someone they really shouldn't have. One benefit of doing some work in administration is now I can see who ordered the attack, and why. I was so excited for this one kill, but all I got was some old fat guy, who didn't even put up a fight.

The next job was even worse, it was a literal old woman, and the next was a man with eighty dogs that stank so bad they hurt my nose when I had to go into his house to kill him. Every single job that I undertook disappointed me, I thought more and more about the Russo's job offer.

"Nadia, I am bored, these people I am killing, they bore me," I started, walking into her office. She looked up. "I have been offered a job in the Italian Mafia, and I think I am going to take it, they are just SO much more interesting, they actually put up a fight, and I'm bored." Nadia clenched her jaw, then released.

"That is what you want to do?" she asked. No, I just fucking walked into your room and told you as a joke, idiot.

"Yes."

"Very well, pack your things and leave, now."

"Damn Nadia, are you kicking me out?"

"Yes." Fucking bitch. I am her best employee, and her closest friend... oh, that must be why she is annoyed I quit. Well, it's not my fault its got so boring now and I just need a bigger challenge.

I packed my bags, went back to my apartment and packed some more stuff, including my favourite yellow mug that is the perfect size for a hot drink, and headed back to Rome, this time to stay, this time to live with the Russos, but I swear to God, if I get bored again I will probably just jump off a bridge because I actually hate being fucking bored. There aren't enough interesting people to kill these days.

Once I was outside the main gates of the house, I opened them with my computer by pressing a button, causing all of the guards to start running around like headless chickens, and start aiming their guns at me.

"Fucking relax, its Phoebe," I yelled, and they let me pass. I was met on the driveway by Dimitri, who saved me over a month ago. He welcomed me with a warm embrace, I think, I have never really hugged or been hugged, my dad said emotions make an assassin weak, and they should be supressed as much as possible.

"So, Phoebe..." started Dimitri.

"I know I announced myself as Phoebe at the gate but I swear to God if another single person calls me Phoebe I will take my gun, jam it down their throat, and pull the trigger."

"I will let everyone know," he chuckled, "so what should we call you?"

"I haven't decided yet."

"Well, what is your real name?"

"Depends which one of my birth certificates you read."

"What name do you associate yourself with?"

"Sav," I replied.

"Then we shall call you Sav," he smiled, "come inside, we were just in the middle of dinner. Nice to see you got the cast off by the way."

In this enormous dining room with really intricate and ornate details, there was a huge, long dining table, but the family was only using the end of it. There they all were there, Fabricio at the head, the empty space for Dimitri to his right, Donna to his left. Donna sat next to Loretta who sat next to Rico, and the two twins sat next to Dimitri.

"Are you hungry?" asked Fabricio.

"No, but thanks," I replied, "which one is my room, or am I staying somewhere else, but I quit already if I am staying somewhere else." Everyone laughed, it made me uncomfortable.

"Second floor, third door on the right," said Donna, giving me a warm smile.

"Thank you."

I unpacked my things in my room, which was the same as the one I woke up in, but the hospital bed was replaced with a large, soft double bed, with way too many pillows and blankets, do they think I have back problems or something? Once I had unpacked, I left the room and went to Fabricio's office. There was no one in there, so I browsed, looking through his books. I wanted to find a new book to read, that was the reason I went in there, not to see Fabricio, I don't think. I grabbed something that looked interesting and sat on the sofa, with my legs crossed, and read.

"You know, anyone who calls me Fabricio usually ends up dead, or really hurt, anyone who dares call me Pugliesi gets their tongue chopped off and forced to swallow it, then they die," said a voice from behind me.

"Well, Fabricio Sandrino Pugliesi Russo, what are you going to do to me now?" I asked, raising one of my eyebrows.

"Is playing chicken one of your favourite games?" he asked, laughing.

"Yes, because I always win." He laughed again. What the fuck is going on? I never make people laugh, well I never have anyone around to talk to except Nadia, who never laughs at anything, but still.

"I'm waiting for you to chop my tongue out, Fabricio," I was toying with him, seeing whether his threats were real.

"Why do you address me like this?"

"I refuse to call you Don Sandrino, it sounds stupid."

"I like the way it sounds."

"Well then you're stupid," he smiled at me after I said that, "tell me, why did you send me a bottle of champagne at the ball?"

"Why did you reject it?"

"I asked first."

"I asked second."

"So, Fabricio, you are going to argue like a child then. Interesting tactic," I started reading my book again.

"I sent it to you because you were the most gorgeous woman I had ever seen, and you were the only woman in the room who wasn't trying to get my attention."

"Do you realise how much of an egoist you sound right now?" He laughed at me, again.

"No, but I have a feeling you're going to tell me."

"I'll let you figure it out." I finished the conversation by getting up, picking my book up, and walking out.

"Hey," he called out, grabbing my arm as I tried to leave. I turned around, with pure anger in my eyes.

"You should know not to grab me." He instantly dropped my arm.

"You didn't answer my question."

"I didn't want to feed into your ego," I smiled and skipped out of the room.
