Death. That's what (Y/n) was mentally preparing himself for as he stood about a hundred feet under New York city. Jessica, Danny, and Luke had already left after the group of Defenders helped to finish off the Hand once and for all. Now all (Y/n) can do is wait for death to embrace him, but as he awaits it he can't help but think what pain he's about to place both Wanda and Nat into. They current await for his return at their apartment. Together they watch from their bedroom window as smoke rises through the air further in New York City.
(Y/n) mentally thanks God for allowing him to at least meet two beautiful girls and that he was about to have a year to date them in somewhat peace. Sure, they couldn't really go out in public, but they made it work. But (Y/n) still couldn't help but be sad at the idea that he will never see, or hear, them again. I guess that's why, in his final moments, he dropped to his knees and looked down at his right hand, pulling off his glove to seem the savior scars that remained after his battle with Tony. The events of the Civil War that broke out seem remain fresh on his mind, his only regrets was that he never was able to fix things with Tony.
But he couldn't help that now. Instead, (Y/n) closed his eyes and began to pray. Pray that Wanda and Nat would be looked after, that his city would be protected, and that the Avengers would always remember to look like for the little guy. A smile forming on (Y/n)'s lips at his old job title. Unfortunately he wasn't able to dwell on past memories for long as the rubble of the falling earth above only grew louder. So, with a final intake of breath (Y/n) prepared for death...But before it came a bright light appeared in front of him, sparks shooting from the side as a man stepped through decked in a red cape and a goatee. (Y/n) tilted his head towards the man strangely, but the man just reached out a hand.
(Y/n): "Who are you?"
(???): "(Y/n) (L/n)? Or should I say, Daredevil?"
(Y/n): "U-Uh, yeah. That's me."
(???): "Great. Excellent. Listen, I know you don't know me, but I need your help. Well, not me personally, but someone you know does."
(Y/n) slowly lifted his head, and though he couldn't see anything, he did hear more footsteps. And the next voice he heard, he definitely knew.
(???) 2: "Friend Devil!"
(Y/n): "Frie-Thor?"
Thor: "Yes, it is I."
(Y/n): "What are you doing here, what are the both of you doing here?"
Thor: "Simple really. I need your help."
Slowly (Y/n) rose to his feet, his head in the direction of Thor and the other person currently accompanying him. (Y/n) goes to speak up before the sound of the ground above him beginning to crumble interrupts him half way and altering the others to their lack of time.

(???): "Uh, perhaps we should continue this elsewhere?"
Thor: "Yes, I believe that would be for the best. After all, I don't think any of us want to get buried my rubble and small pieces of dirt...at least not now anyway."
The Norse god merely chuckles at his friend and (Y/n), speaking of which, he goes to cut Thor off. Wanting to make it clear that he doesn't deserve to live, but before he could get even a full word out he was suddenly pulled into the bright orange portal along with Thor and his friend. The next thing (Y/n) sensed he was no longer underground, the sound of rocks grinding against one another was no longer filling his ear; instead the sound of car horns and countless street chattered filled his airwaves as he tilted his head in multiple directions.
(Y/n): "We're not under New York anymore."
(???): "No, we are not, Mr. (L/n)."
(Y/n)'s senses proceeded to pick up this man moving around the room, Thor merely throwing an arm around the Devil of Hell's kitchen shoulder with a chuckle before beginning to lead him up the stairs.
(Y/n): "I'll ask again, this time more clearly, where are we?"
(???): [Stops and turns around] "You're currently in The Sanctum Sanctorum , Mr. (L/n)." [Sighs] "You know, saving you from further questions, let me just give you all the answers right now. My name is Doctor Steven Strange, I'm the Sorcerer Supreme--"
Thor: [Leans over] "He's a wizard."
(Y/n): [Tilts towards Thor then back to Strange] "You're a wizard?"
Dr Strange: "No, I'm not a wizard. I'm a Sorcerer, there's a perf-Argh. You know what, forget it. Please, just follow me..."
(Y/n) just looks blankly in the direction of Dr. Strange who realizes his mistake.
Dr. Strange: "Oh, uh, follow my footsteps? Whatever. Follow Thor."
Turning around with a groan Dr. Strange led the way for both (Y/n) and Thor to follow, the trio eventually reaching a small living room area.
Dr. Strange: "Would you care for some tea?"
(Y/n): [As he sits down] "Uh, no thanks. Hey, listen, I don't mean to be rude or anything...But why am I here exactly?"
Dr. Strange: [Takes his own seat] "Oh, right. Thor here has come into some trouble where he cannot locate his Father."
(Y/n): "Odin?"
Dr. Strange: "That would be the one."
Thor: "Loki has been disguised as my Father for years now, and I've found out that he is somewhere in Norway"
Dr. Strange: "Now, normally I would be able to find him, but I'm having trouble locating his exact position."
(Y/n): "And that's where I come in?"
Thor: "And that's where you come in." [Turns to Strange and smiles] "See, I told you he would be able to help. (Y/n) here is an Avenger, he's never let anyone down."
(Y/n): "Heh. Say that to Wanda. I ran five minutes late to dinner last night and she's practically turning the apartment upside down."
The Blind Lawyer smiles gently at the memory, but instantly that is replaced with the sudden worry being placed onto his girlfriends lives right now. Because from what he knows, they know that he's been buried alive underground and is presumed dead. He begins to feel incredibly bad and figures he should probably call them, but before he can he's cut off by Thor once more.
Thor: "Maximoff? Why would she-.." [Thor quickly dawns a grin] "(Y/n) (L/n), you blind lawyer you...did you sleep with Miss Maximoff?"

(Y/n): "Thor! What the...Why are you asking such a thing?"
I mean, it's not like Thor was wrong, (Y/n) had indeed engaged in such 'activities' with both girls, but he still didn't like to brag about it...much.
Thor: "What? You stated that she turned the apartment upside down, does that not mean you two formed the sexual act that an earth couple would make?"
(Y/n): "Thor, can you...well yes, but...Argh! Thor, can you drop it, please. I'm really not comfortable talking about my relationship with my girlfriends in front of some wizard."
Thor: "I'm sorry, did I hear incorrectly? But did you just say...girlfriends?"
(Y/n): "Um, well..." [A small smile forms on (Y/n)'s lips] "Well, I'm kinda seeing both Wanda and Nat. B-But it's not like they don't know, they do, in fact...it was more so their idea then mine."
Thor just stares blankly at (Y/n) before bursting out in laughter.
Thor: "Oh, oh I'm sorry, (Y/n). But that is the funniest story I have ever heard."
(Y/n): "Uh, it's true."
Thor: [Laughs] "There it is again. Seriously, I almost believed you when you said two girls liked you. Honestly, I cannot believe how the humor has progressed down here on Earth."
(Y/n): "But it's true...all of it."
Once more Thor broke out in laughter, but instead of the Norse god speaking up it was instead Dr. Strange who rose his voice.
Dr. Strange: "I'm sorry, would this be Wanda Maximoff and Natasha Romanoff? As in, the Wanda Maximoff and Natasha Romanoff who are fugitives of the government?"
(Y/n): "Um...No."
The Devil of Hell's Kitchen quickly dawns a regretful look as a strange look forms on Thor's face. He turns to Dr. Strange, clueless, before turning to (Y/n) with an even more clueless look.
Thor: "Fugitives? What happened while I was gone?"
(Y/n): "Oh, you know, a guy framed Steve's old war buddy for a crime which allowed a string of events to fold out which caused a law to be brought out around the world which forced heroes to work under the Government. A few heroes, including myself, Wanda, and Steve, along with a few others decided against this an a whole Civil War type battle broke out. Long story short the Avengers are split up, Cap's gone off the grid and I'm forced to do three times the shopping now because my girlfriends-[He tilts his head and smiles innocently]-who aren't heroes, are stuck at home all the time."
A wave of silence set forth between the trio as Thor tried taking in everything he had just heard, meanwhile Dr. Strange grew increasingly board from the fact that things were moving much more slower then he would have first anticipated.
Dr. Strange: "I'm sorry, can we please move along."
Thor: "Yes. Yes, of course..." [Turns to (Y/n) suddenly] "Who won?"
(Y/n): "Oh, we did, obviously. Don't worry, nobody died or anything, but let's just say there won't be an annual Christmas party this year."
Thor: [Laughs] "That's funny..."
Thor chuckles at (Y/n)'s joke before his eyes align with Dr. Strange's, who merely offers the god of thunder a blank stare.
Thor: "O-Oh. Not funny...So not funny."
Dr. Strange: "Gentlemen? Can we move along, now?"
About a minute later (Y/n) could be seen standing in the center of an empty room in the Sanctum Sanctorum. Around him were multiple portals Dr. Strange had conjured, each forming a circle around the trio as (Y/n) waited for his instructions.
(Y/n): "So, what exactly did you want me to do?"
Dr. Strange: "Just close your eyes. From what Thor tells me, you can hear well."
(Y/n): [Mutters] "That's an understatement."
Dr. Strange: "Yeah, well so's being called a wizard."
(Y/n) just tilts his head in the direction of Strange's voice before proceeding to do exactly at the Sorcerer Supreme commanded him. Closing his eyes (Y/n) begins to concentrate on the portals around him and the noises that were coming out from them. Honestly, it felt no more different then being perched atop a church late at night as he listens to the cries of the victims this cruel world has decided to stab in the back....though this way ended less bloody, well, at the moment anyway.
Dr. Strange: "What do you hear?"
(Y/n): "I hear...kids playing together..."
Tilting his head higher (Y/n) transitioned his head towards the direction of another portal, this one placed in the corner of the room.
(Y/n): "A woman screaming...she's in pain."
He immediately opens his eyes and goes to approach the portal, but is stopped when Dr. Strange steps in front of him.
Dr. Strange: "You need to concentrate, (Y/n)."
(Y/n): "But she needs help."
Dr. Strange: "You must come to the realization that you cannot save everyone, (Y/n)...You are not a God."
Slowly (Y/n) dropped his head to the ground as the thought of Elektra dying returned to his mind, He hadn't been able to save her, and such a moment caused the thought of whether or not (Y/n) should join her in death. Thankfully before he could make that choice Thor and Strange showed up. Focusing once more (Y/n) lifted his head and nodded before walking back to the center of the room and closing his eyes once more.
Dr. Strange: "Try to focus on the voice of Odin, imagine seeing him directly in front of you...and reach out to him."
Listening to Dr. Strange once more (Y/n) did exactly that. He began picturing the person he presumed Odin would look like and reached out for him. A cliff face in Norway came into view, Odin sitting on a rock as he looked at the peaceful sky and crashing waves followed soon after before (Y/n)'s eyes burst open. But all he saw was that exact same black and bleak void he had come to know for most of his childhood, however he did find the right portal in the process.
(Y/n): "This one."
Now even though (Y/n) couldn't see, surely enough there was a portal directly in front of him. Dr. Strange turned to Thor with a raised eyebrow while Thor merely smirked before patting Strange on the back.
Dr. Strange: "Are you certain?"
(Y/n): "You asked me to imagine seeing him directly in front of me... this is in front of me."
Whether or not he mean't to make a quip out of that wasn't of much importance to Dr. Strange, but Thor merely kept his smirk as he took his place by (Y/n), his eyes glued to the portal in front of him.
Thor: "Excellent work, Friend Devil. Now, all we need to do is find my Father, return him to Asgard, and then we shall return you home."
(Y/n): "Um, excuse me? No, Thor, I have to go home now. The girls are--"
Thor: "Are probably laid out on a bed waiting for you back at your little house carved into a building, yes, we know that (Y/n). There isn't any need to remind us."
(Y/n): "Um...I didn't mean too..."
Thor: "Nah, uh. (Y/n), we don't have time for that. We need to get my Father back to Asgard."
The god of Thunder goes to push (Y/n) through the portal, but the Devil of Hell's kitchen resisted, continuously stating how he couldn't just leave. But as Thor argued against the Devil, while also trying to push him through the portal, the both are brought back to the third person in the room who decides to add his own voice into the conversation.
Dr. Strange: "Uh, whatever is happening here, you may want to be taking this with you."
Strange proceeds to open a portal on the roof. The sound of a male screaming echoes from inside before suddenly Loki drops from above and crashes into the ground. He staggers to his feet, on edge, yet confused at the same time.
Loki: "...I have been falling...for Thirty minutes!"
Dr. Strange: "You can handle him from here."
Thor: "Yes, of course. Thank you very much for your help."
Thor proceeds to shake Dr. Strange's hand before the Sorcerer Supreme turned to (Y/n) and did the same. Loki on the other hand grows an angry look as he summons a dagger into his hand.
Loki: "Handle me? Who are you?" [He then notices (Y/n) standing there] "Who's the devil baby?"
Loki turns around and points to Thor then to (Y/n).
Thor: This is (Y/n), or as he prefers to be called, Friend Devil."
(Y/n): "I don't prefer that, actually."
Thor: "Yes, you do. You love it when I call you that."
(Y/n): "No, I don't."
Thor: "Yes, you do."
(Y/n): "No, I definitely--"
Thor: "Anyway!"
Loki: [Turns his attention back to Strange] "Don't think for one minute, you second-rate..."
Dr. Strange: "Bye. Bye."
Before anyone could say another word Dr. Strange waved his hand which caused the portal in front of (Y/n) to cross the room. First swallowing (Y/n) before doing the exact same with Thor and Loki, seconds before the latter could attack Strange. The next thing (Y/n) knows he in a silent area, the sound of waves crashing together fill his ears, suggesting he's at the cliff face in Norway which he pictured in his head. As for Thor and Loki, the duo appeared there seconds later with the latter slashing through the air, but to no suffice in attacking Dr. Strange.
Loki: "Where are we?"
(Y/n): "Norway."
The Devil of Hell's kitchen said as he walked passed Loki, the god of mischief turning to (Y/n) before grabbing his shoulder, forcing (Y/n) to turn around and face him.
Loki: "I am a god, you address me like on--"
(Y/n): "There's only one god, and I'm pretty sure he isn't you." [Tilts his head in Thor's direction] "This the brother that attacked New York?"
Thor: "Well, yes...but he's adopted."
(Y/n) smiles and nods his head before turning back in the direction of Loki where he proceeded to punched the god of mischief directly in the face. This forced Loki to stagger backwards before grasping at his lip where a trail of blood now rested. However, instead of being angry, Loki just smiled.
Loki: "Oh, I like this one."
Both (Y/n) and Thor ignored Loki as they began approaching the cliff where surely enough Odin sat atop a rock. The former king of Asgard sat in silence as the birds chirped around him, his gaze set upon the beautiful waves and pretty sky in front of him.
Thor: "Father?"
Odin: "Look at this place. It's beautiful."
Thor indeed listens to his Father and does admit it does look beautiful, but he was far more focused on returning his Father back to Asgard.
Thor: "Father, it's us."
Odin: "My sons..." [He glances around him before his eye lands on (Y/n)] "Oh, and I see you have brought a devil baby with you."
(Y/n) doesn't say a word, he merely sighs in defeat as Thor smiles gently.
Odin: "I've been waiting for you, you know."
Thor: "I know. We've come to take you home."
Odin: "Home, yes. Your mother, she calls me."
Thor dawns a worried look as he glances at Loki, Odin does the same but merely smiles at his son.
Odin: "Come, sit with me. Oh, you too, Devil baby. My son tells me you are quite the warrior, a place in Valhalla would look fine for you."
(Y/n): "Uh, thanks...But I think I've already got a place reserved somewhere else."
Odin smiles and pats (Y/n) on the shoulder before his attention is drawn towards Thor.
Thor: "I know we have failed you. But we can make this right."
Odin: "You are not the one who has failed, I have failed you...my two sons. Ragnarok is upon us."
Thor: "No, I've stopped Ragnarok. I put an end to Surtur."
(Y/n): "Uh, Ragnarok? What's that?"
Loki: "Asgard's doom. You know, for one of Surturs devil baby's I expected you to know this."
(Y/n): "I'm not a--"
(Y/n)'s half way from jumping out of his seat but stops himself when he turns to see Odin watching with a smile.
Odin: "Ragnarok has already begun. She is coming now. My life was all that held her back. But my time has come."
Once more Thor and Loki share a glance as (Y/n) remains clueless to the matter.
Odin: "I cannot keep her away for much longer. Thor, Loki-[Turns around to you]-Devil baby, you must return to Asgard and prepare the people for battle."
(Y/n): "Um, who are we talking about now?"
Thor: "I...I don't know. Father, who are you talking about."
Odin: "Goddess of Death. Hela. My firstborn. Your sister."
Confusion and frustration lingers on Thor's face as he tries to understand everything his father had just told him, but in the end he is left with nothing more other then more questions as Thor and Loki watch as their father fades away. (Y/n) chooses to rise first and place his hand on Thor's shoulder, comforting his friend in his time of loss.
(Y/n): "I'm sorry, Thor."

The Deathseeker [Under Revision]
NOTE: This story has dark elements, but it's neither grimdark nor particularly edgy. It's also currently being revised. Satan's Axe...Lord of High Honor...The Immortal Giant...The Black Maelstrom...Son of Thunderfield...The Gods' Retribution. Dalric had many names. None were as fitting as his last, Dalric the Deathseeker. Born from an unwanted mating between the greatest warriors of the time, death was his only true kin. It birthed him, molded him, and now standing in the middle of a lifeless battlefield, it drenched him. The blood of thousands of soldiers soaked his skin. Two hundred thousand men approached him that day. All of them sought his life, none of them left with theirs. But they would not die in vain, they had accomplished their mission. Hidden beneath a thousand layers of their blood, was Dalric's very own. Feeling his life fade, he gazed weakly at his work. A seemingly endless array of corpses laid battered and disfigured before him. Some bore faces of horror, most had no face at all. His most trusted companion floated in front of him, blocking the view. Waves of sorrow flowed between them. “My time has finally come. I’ve begged for death and it’s finally arrived. My work is done...and so is yours. You’re free to be who you were meant to.” With his contract with the gods fulfilled, they were truly free. The centuries of torment would end. No longer would they have to walk the path of a monster. Little did Dalric know, the devil was in the details. What To Expect: A good time. In a few more words than that, a cast of believable characters in a unique world dealing with conflicts and problems a little bit more complex than punching the big evil guy in the face. Just a little though. Minimum Word Count a Week: 5000 Release Time(s): Between Friday 12pm EST and Monday 6am EST I also write A King in the Clouds

The Heart Grows
Dungeon games? Yeah, they're a good way to waste a few hours. The trick is to know the map and plan appropriately. Of course, it doesn't matter if you get beaten. You revise your plan for that map and do a bit better next time. Man, it'd really suck to wake up as a dungeon heart in a fantasy world you know nothing about, barely able to even work out how to control your dungeon. Lucky that wouldn't happen to anybody, huh? What with only having one chance at getting things right, you'd have to plan extra-defensive. This story should be getting chapters published weekly. I have a comfortable buffer set up and on top of the weekly writing I am committing, a commissioner has donated two monthly writing slots to ensure this remains on a weekly schedule. There will be a stat block at the beginning of every chapter bar the first, and a handy map at the end. All my works come with a CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license. This means you are free to download, publish, and even make derivative works of my writing so long as you include this license, attribution, and don't sell the works. Keep it free!
