《Blood Red (Daredevil FF)》What Doesn't Kill

"Goodnight." I replied while Matt leaned a bit closer to me and my heart started beating faster.
I couldn't believe it but he kissed me. His lips were so soft and his beard stubble lightly scratched on my skin.
After our kiss he smiled and said goodnight again. Then he walked in his flat leaving me totally stunned by his actions. I took a deep breath and walked in my flat after some minutes.
As we met up on the next day it was quite awkward because no one of us dared to mention the kiss but probably it would have been even more awkward if we'd have mentioned it. We just made some small talk and afterwards I left the building and walked to work.
I arrived after a few minutes and walk inside.
In my office I sat down at the desk and started drawing a new comic for the newspaper tomorrow. I made some sketched and after a while I finally had a good idea which I imagine put on paper. I just finished drawing the first picture as my boss bursted in my office. He held the newspaper of today in his hand.
"What do you think is this?" He pointed at comic in the newspaper. "This is one of the worst comics I've ever seen. Right now I am questioning myself why I even hired you. Hopefully the next one is better, otherwise you are fired." He put the newspaper on my desk so I could see the pictures and left my office just as quick as he entered it.
I stared at the comic and sighed. I knew this wasn't one of my best works but still I put a lot of effort in it. This was depressing but the fact that I probably get fired was even worse because if I get fired then I wouldn't be able to pay the rent for my flat.

I shook my head to get rid of this though and continued drawing the comic but even more precisely now because it needed to look good. It took some hours to finish the comic and after I brought the picture to a colleague my shift ended. I walked outside and made my way home.
In front of the apartment building I saw Matt and ran to him because I wanted to talk with him about last night.
"Matt!" I shouted while running to him. The turned around to me and I stopped in front of him. "Can we talk?"
"Sure. What's going on?" He smiled at me.
"It's because of our kiss. I just wanted to know if you regret it because everything was so awkward this morning and you didn't mention it or anything like that." I said even though I wasn't even sure what I wanted to express. Matt chuckled and shook his head a bit.
"If I would regret it, would I be doing this?" I wasn't sure what he meant but just a second later he put his hands on my cheeks and kissed me. The kiss didn't last long but it made me smile like an idiot. Knowing that he likes me even though he isn't drunk made me really happy because I liked him a lot too.
We walk inside together and each one of us went in his own flat. I made myself comfortable on the couch and turned on the television right when the news started.
The reporter said that the man who put the bomb at the fun fair broke out of prison and police is trying to find him at the moment. They told everyone to be careful and to call the police immediately if anyone sees him. Then the report ended.

I felt quite uncomfortable thinking about that such a man was running around anywhere in New York again. I always knew that this city wasn't the safest place on earth but I didn't like the thought of this.

Seeker
The Gods are dead As they bled dry, so did the magic which gave them birth. In the new era of technology, its pathetic remnants must hide in the shadows or be locked away. In the ancient era of magic two beings often stood out: Galileo, an immortal scholar obsessed with knowledge and Angelica, the most loyal servant of the greatest among the now dead Gods. But why are they worthy of mention? Because after millennia of isolation, the two emerge in the new world beyond their reckoning. The entire story is told from the third person, however, each chapter will be told from the perspective of only one of the characters. This will be signified by the first letter of their names after the chapter number to avoid confusion. I submitted this fiction as a [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] as well as a participant in National Novel Writing Month. The original challenge had been to finish this entire faction within the month of November reaching the 55.5k word minimum. This goal had been achieved. I do not own the cover picture
