《The Asshole with a Motorcycle》Rebel

The next morning, I woke up sprawled across Jay's body which was lying straight on the bed.

I looked at the time I freaked out, thinking I was late. Then I remember I had the day off.

I rested my head on his chest again, when I heard the soft flapping of wings.

"Rise and shine lovelies!" Malayeka announced from the window.

I groaned as Jay pulled me in for a hug and covered me with a pillow.

"What?" Jay asked, still half asleep.

"Now that I have met you, I have so many things to ask!" She started and walked over to the bed. "Like why is wrapping your arms around someone else until it hurts, affectionate? Or why do you sit and stare at glowing screens all day?"

"Whoa, slow down Malayeka." Jay said siting up, forcing me up as well. "We need a little time to actually wake up and realize that we are in fact talking to an angel."

"Oh don't worry about that! I promise no more zipping around." She nodded.

"Okay that's cool." I said looking at her, still tangled in Jay. "But I think we actually need to get dressed first. Then go to the mall in case his dad shows up."

"Dad?" Malayeka asked, tilting her head to the side.

"Yea. He's not fun." I shook my head and pushed off the covers. "Let's go."

I grabbed my clothing and headed to the bathroom.

"Oh yes. Humans have to keep up with hygiene. I'll be back, just call my name." The angel winked and was gone.

"Right." Jay shook his head. "I will never get used to that."

"Neither." I said standing in the door.

"So." Jay got up and walked over. "Do I permission to shower with you?"

"And if someone walks in?" I asked.

"We both shut up and shower." He winked.

"Right." I laughed as we stumbled though the door.

That day, we took Malayeka to the mall and sat by the fountain as she asked her questions.

"So you and Jay are dating, so that means going places together and kissing?" Malayeka frown at me. "That's it? What's the point of dating?"

I looked at Jay. "To try different people. See if your compatible."

"Oh! Like what the Cherubs back home do?" She smiled.

"Cherubs exist?" Jay laughed.

"Yes, of course. All the love power, it's all them." She beamed.

"So, Mali," I said changing the subject. Mali, courtesy of Jay, was Malayeka's nickname. "Enough about us. Tell us about you."

"Well I am an angel, here..." She hesitated a bit as she said the next words. "Here to look over you and Jay."

"That's it? " Jay asked.

"Well, sometimes when I am bored, I singing in Angel Chorus." She nodded.

"Of course." Jay smiled.

Over the next few days, we hung out with Mali. She was really lost most of the time, but we helped her along. She was a fast learner and curious about just about everything.

I was working with an agency, so taking time off was no problem.

I don't know how to explain her, she was fun to be around. She became the first close friend I had since middle school.

One night, while Jay was at the garage, I decided to take her to a look out over the city where the light pollution didn't affect the night sky.

We sat on the hood of my little car and looked at the stars. I had grabbed a beer and was drinking it, but Mali was just staring at the sky in awe.

"This is what it looks like from down here. It's even more beautiful." She sighed. "Humans are beautiful."

"You could say that." I scoffed and took another sip of beer.

"What else could I say?" She asked, confused.

"No, I mean, being human is not as amazing as you think."

"Why? You have affection, amazing food, joy and light. What more could you need?" She asked, sitting up, her blue eyes staring at me, full of confusion.

"Pain, heartbreak, darkness, sickness..." I shook my head.

"But... free will." She pushed. "If you want to scream and cry and punch a tree, you can. You're allowed to question things."

"Well, you can question all you want, but never get answers. Like why some people are such shitty people."

"They are their for the good people. Keep people going. Inspiration." Mali nodded, agreeing with herself.

"How?" I shook my head. "Having shitty parents are suppose to improve character?"

"Sorta. Like, you wouldn't be strong, independent and faithful if it weren't for your parents. It's a guide of what not to do." She said taking the beer from my hands and taking a sip. She made a face and handed it back. "Tastes like a lot of alcohol molecules.

I laughed and whipped the mouth of the bottle on my shirt."That's why we drink it."

She made a face and shook her head. "Gross."

I laughed again and looked at they sky again. "I guess your right. Being a human is beautifully ugly."

The next few weeks, Mali came to say in my little basement, but it was more of a place to wait for me to finish work. Angels don't sleep, or eat, or do anything a human would need a house for. She couldn't go out, her wings weren't getting better. They were getting worst.

I asked her about it once and she tensed up. "I contacted my brothers and sisters about it, they said on Earth it's hard on an angel and their grace. I'll have to repair them once I get back to heaven."

"Why don't you go now, nothing his happening now, we were actually gonna plan a date night..." I started.

"NO!" She said, her eyes flashing electric blue. "I mean, I can't go yet. Orders.

"Okay..." I said, not wanting to push anymore.
