I seriously cannot sleep and I'm tired of watching TV' I grumble to the girls on FaceTime. Tomorrow is our first day back at high school after a long summer off.

Finally, I'm a junior and this can only mean one thing: only two more years until college. Don't get me wrong, I love high school but knowing my independence is a step closer gets me excited for things to come. The future! I know I know, I am only 16 but I am a true optimist, constantly planning how my life will look: college; degree; getting my own place.

But first things first, friends. I cannot wait to see Kerrys and Kayla. From looking at their instagram posts, they looked like they had the best time ever in Spain. Kerrys and Kayla are two of my best friends and I've known them since the first grade. There's also Theia, who I also cannot wait to see since she's been in Canada for the summer visiting her grandparents but from our nightly four way Facetimes, I think she has spent more time moaning and complaining than seeing the sights. Theia is my other best friend who I met on the first day of high school. Unlike Kayla and Kerrys, she didn't grow up in our small town but the four of us have been inseparable since.

My summer wasn't all bad. I had a great summer touring around in England with my younger sister Shay. The only downside for me was that we had to stay at our parents friends house and as a result of them letting us stay for free, we had to include them in all of our activities and let me tell you, it was not fun! Anyway, I'm expecting big things from this year, sophomore year was kind of boring, aside from a few mediocre dances and the Greyson's winning the lottery, therefore taking up early retirement and moving to France. Oh, and Miss Day, our Art teacher, got pregnant by a senior and they ran away together. Talk about scandal. Not much happens here in Jewel Bay, so that was bound to be the talk of town. It's going to take a while for the school to clean up that image and I can already imagine Principal Knox forbidding us from talking about it when we return tomorrow.

Currently, I'm talking to my girls on our last four way FaceTime before we see each other again, I yawn "It's getting late. Shit I should sleep." I look at my phone and it's 3:00am.

"We've got to be up in four hours." Kerrys reminds us all. After mumbling night to the girls, I end the call and fall face down. So much for not being able to sleep.

Beep Beep Beep... I swear I literally fell asleep five minutes ago. After groaning and restraining myself from throwing my phone at the wall, I drag myself out of bed and get ready. Walking past the mirror I chuckle in horror: Chanel would be proud of the bags I have under my eyes. Never again am I going to sleep that late. I share a bathroom with Shay and normally I'm in and out first but seeing as I overslept, I can already hear her in there murdering a Rihanna song.

"Turn up to Rihanna while the whole club fucking wasted..." screams Shay, rest in peace to that song. I can just imagine her doing gun fingers whilst screeching that.

"My blap blap blap" Are those even the words? I'm sure it's like bra bra...

I've had enough of this "Shay, this is a shower, not a world tour, hurry up!"

Seconds later Shay unlocked the door and walks out "Bitch better have my money", she raps whilst walking past me.

"How are we related?" I shake my head and mumble to myself, walking in and locking the door.

A shower and three outfit changes later, finally opting on a white crop top, black high waisted jeans and black leather ankle boots, I better get on my way and pick up Theia. She hates being late, even if it is by a minute.

Running down the stairs into the kitchen, I hear giggling and whispering. I freeze at the scene in front me, then promptly bring my hand to cover my eyes. Lord, if I am adopted as I suspect I am, now would be the best time to give me a sign. My parents are making out with my mom sat on the counter and my dad stood between her legs. Kill me now 'Not where the food is prepared, have you guys no shame?'

"Sorry hon" my mom blushes, pushing my dad back and my dad fixes his tie before rushing past me, kissing me on the cheek. I don't know why I am still surprised, that was PG for them. I have been scarred by much worse. Secretly I love seeing them like this, all happy and shit. It's the inner romantic in me.

"Is Dad on his way to hospital?" I ask.

"Yes sweetie, your dad and I are going out tonight and won't be back until tomorrow" wiggling her eyebrows. Ugh, it's too early for innuendos. It's their 20 year anniversary so they are staying at a hotel.

"Also, Shay is staying at Luna's tonight so you will be home alone. I will make dinner for you and leave it in the fridge for you to warm up" my mom adds on.

"Oh seeing as Shay isn't here, could I have the girls round please? We'll just order in so you don't need to make me anything and you can just leave me money on the counter for the pizza" I rush that last bit out.

'Sure honey, just don't stay up too later, you have school tomorrow remember" my mom reminds me.

"Thank you mom, you're the best. Alright mom I am going to go otherwise I will be late to pick up Theia." And boy, she'll never let me hear the end of it. I shout up to Shay to hurry up before I leave her to get the bus.

"Aren't you going to eat this breakfast I've made for you both?" My mom pouts, pointing at the muffins, turkey bacon, etc assembled on the kitchen table.

At this point Shay is pacing behind me. 'No we haven't got time, sorry mom' Shay shouts back before rushing out the door.

What is up with her? She doesn't even like school.

"Well at least take a muffin for you and your sister, you need to eat." Grabbing the muffins, my mom kisses me whilst telling me to have a good day.

"See you tomorrow mom."

'Do you know how boring it is to stay with your grandparents all summer' Theia groans whilst getting into the back of my car.

"Well hello to you too, no I've missed you, how've you been Sage' I reply sarcastically. 'It can't have been that bad, I thought you met a girl up there", I say whilst Theia clicks her seatbelt in.

"Ah yeah I did and she was amazing, that was the only fun part about being up there. It's not like I don't love my grandparents, I do, but since they moved up to that Canadian nursing home they have gotten boring" moaned Theia.

After catching up on the drive, we arrive at school. 'Here we are, back at the prison', Theia moans as we approach the Jewel Bay High sign.

As soon as we arrived, Shay rushes out of the car and runs up to school. What is up with her?

Walking toward the entrance, I hear them before I see them. In sync talking, pointing me into their direction of my two best friends.

"Hey what took you so long, we have something to show use."

"Err hello, has nobody missed me like I've missed you guys?" I complain.

"Shut up bitch, you know we've missed you" Kerrys moves from her locker and puts her arm around my shoulder whilst Theia and Kayla link arms and walk in front of us.

"How are you Sage, after you know Thierry left..." Kerrys mumbles off.

"I'm fine" I lie. "I've had the whole summer to forget about him. With him moving away, we decided that long-distance wasn't for us."

"You mean he decided it wasn't for him when he slept with someone else, not to mention he butt dialled you whilst doing it " Kayla subtle as always. "I never like him and his creeping ways, little bitch."

"KAYLA!!!" Kerrys shouts, whilst I snort.

"What she meant to say was..." Theia starts off but I interrupt her.

"Guys, it's okay I get it, use didn't like him. I've had a lucky escape, trust me" I try to reassure them and me. You know what they say fake it until you make it.

"You're the real deal and one day you'll find your ride of die" Kerrys says whilst the other nod in agreeance.

They really are the best friends ever.

"So what is it you wanted to show... us?" I ask, changing the topic.

Kayla pointed up towards the ceiling at the big colourful banner and said "They're letting us have a back to school dance, and its themed."

"What's the theme" said Theia, which is a pointless ask because whatever it is she'll only wear black.

"The 1920's. I can't wait I'm going to start looking for something to wear soon as I get home" says Kerrys.

"Speaking of home, my mom and dad are out tonight and Shay is staying at Luna's so we should all do something at mine" I offered. They all nodded whilst we carried on walking down the hallway towards the lockers.

"So who has Mrs Greenday for Math?" Theia asks.

"I do but I'm so not looking forward to it" I replied back to Theia

"Kerrys and I have Mr Kwon, I swear his classes go on forever" moaned Kayla.

"Hahaha I'm so glad I don't have him" laughed Theia. Ringing sounds of a bell interrupting us.

"Let's get to class I don't want detention on my first day back. Happy Junior year bitches" Kerrys shouted back at us whilst walking away, Kayla slowly following behind and Theia and I drag ourselves to maths.

The bell rings. 'Oh my God it's finally lunch time, I didn't get a chance to eat breakfast, Kerrys kept on rushing me' Kayla shouts as we walk to the cafeteria.

'Yeah because it takes you forever to get ready in the morning, but of course blame me as always' Kerrys moaned'.

We all walk towards our usual table and see that there is a new guy sat at our table. We all sit-down anyway. 'Hey, are you new here? I haven't see you around before' Theia asks him, nosey as ever.

The unknown guy looks up at us and then resumes eating his food. 'Okay, so he doesn't want to talk to us. Anyway, about tonight, can we order pizzas and watch To All The Boys?' Kayla asks.

Before anyone can answer her, the unknown boy stands up and walks away. 'I found him kinda cute' Theia concluded.

'How, he didn't even say anything' I ask amusingly.

'Exactly, dangerous and mysterious' Theia winks.

Cue a group eye roll.

The bell rings, indicating lunch time is over. 'Alright, there goes the bell, I'll see you all after biology' I waved back to the girls whilst I walked in a different direction.

The school bell rings and everybody rushes out like they were held hostage. Walking toward my car I overhear Kayla walking behind me with the rest of the girls sighing 'Thank God school is over, I was so not into today.'

'You're never into school' Theia replies back to Kayla.

I turn back to catch Kayla side eyeing Theia and I chuckle. 'I'm gonna order the pizzas now' I say to the girls.

'Oh great, get a half and half for me and Kerrys and the usual for you and Kayla' Theia replies.

'Well actually I'm a vegetarian now' the girls stop in their tracks as I say that.

'What, since when? Hold on, you were just eating a chicken wrap at lunch' Kerrys asked looking perplexed.

'Well I'm new at it, I never said I was an expert at this vegetarian lifestyle. My brain has agreed to it but my stomach hasn't.'

The girls bowl over laughing at me. 'Well thanks for the support girls' I try to keep a stern face but I start smiling.

After we regain our composure, we continue to walk 'So I will meet you guys at mine in, let's say an hour?' I ask the twins.

Everyone nods their heads in agreement and we separate to our cars. Shay and Luna are leaning against my car waiting for me to unlock it. Once we get in I drive the girls to Luna's house and then Theia and I go back to mine.

I arrive at my house at the same time the twins pull up outside my house and when we all get out of our cars the first thing I notice is a moving van parked up outside my next-door neighbor's house. 'Sage, why didn't you tell us that you were getting a new neighbour? What happened to Mrs. Butterfield' enquired Kayla.

'I didn't know someone was moving in. She probably die or something, she was old and she was cranky all the time, I never knew why', I replied as I glanced over to see what was happening. 'Even when I was a kid she uses to shout at me and my sister whenever a leaf from are tree fell into her yard.'

'Wow like a tree losing it leaves is your fault' laughed Theia.

Just as I opened the door, a convertible drove up to the house driveway. We all turned our heads to see a tall dark haired guy. His hair was a dark as raven feathers, his face looked like it was sculpted by God. It's like God decided to take a really long time making this guy. He took of his shades and his eyes were amazing: one blue one green. He was wearing a black leather jacket, a black t-shirt and black jeans with black and white converse. Then another guy came out of the passenger seat. He was tall too, but not as tall as the first guy. His hair was chestnut brown and curly. His face looked like God took time with him to. His eyes were blue so blue it looked like you were staring into the ocean. He was wearing a varsity jacket with a school on the back that I'd never heard of before and blue jeans with sneakers.

We all looked like creeps staring at these guys with drool coming out of our mouths. 'Hey I think we should all stop staring before they notice and think we're all weirdos'. Once Kerrys said that, the guy with the dark hair turned and looked, gave us a wink and then disappeared into the house. We all headed quickly to the door, laughing at being caught staring.

I closed the door behind us and fell to the floor in laughter. 'So I guess he's going to think we're all weirdos now' said Theia.

'They were both really hot I've never seen two guy that look like that before, I don't think they're from this world', Kayla replied.

I looked out the front door window and then quickly turns back. 'Yep they are definitely from a different planet.' We all get up and carry our things into the living room. Kayla takes her laptop out of her bag and so does Theia. I look around for mine. 'I think I left mine in my room I'll go get it but if any of you need a drink you know where the cups are.' As I walked towards the stairs the doorbell rang, 'Hey Kerrys, get the plates, the pizza is here.'

'Pizza, pizza, pizza....' I sang as I opened the door. Stood in front of me was the most gorgeous man I'd ever seen in my life. Golden brown skin, dark hair, and a hit of a tattoo on his neck. As I make eye contact with him, I notice him smirking a little because he noticed me checking him out. I realised I was staring at him and quickly composed myself. 'Sorry, I thought you were the pizza guy'.
