《Smile》Five

"Alright here's the room." Stevie said holding the door open for me.
"Thanks." I walked in.
"You ready?" He asked closing the door behind him as I nodded. "Great, so I want you to take a bunch of pictures," he stood in front of me. "The more pictures you take the better chance you have to show your talent."
I nodded looking around the big room seeing other models and photographers, the photography crew, hairdressers, and makeup artists.
I spotted Vanessa sitting on a chair facing a mirror. A hairdresser was standing behind her putting her hair up into a messy bun. Looking up, her eyes met mines through the mirror. She raised an eyebrow and smirked. "Your taking pictures of me?" She mouthed. I nodded and she clapped softly looking away.
I smiled. "You got that Y/n?"
I looked back at him and nodded quickly. "Yup, every word."
"Right, let's meet Vanessa then." He started towards her and I followed. "Vanessa, I want to introduce you to Y/n," he gestured to me. "Y/n this is Vanessa."
She stood up and walked closer to me. "It's great to meet you Y/n."
I smiled down at her. "It's great to meet you too Vanessa." She smiled back as we held eye contact.
I really love her smile.
Stevie cleared his throat. "Well, let's get to work."
Vanessa slowly backed away still holding eye contact. "Let's." She turned and walked towards a stool that was in front of a blank background farthest away from everyone.
"Alright, Y/n come with me," we walked towards a table filled with camera equipment. "This is Tristian and he's an intern." Stevie introduced me to a scrawny boy.
"Hi," he said. "Here's the camera you wanted sir." Stevie grabbed the camera and handed it to me.
"Y/n this is a Nikon D850, one of the best high-resolution cameras on the market."
I stared at the camera in awe. This shit cost damn near $4,000 but, what did I expect this is a photoshoot.
"Yeah awesome," I looked over at Vanessa who was waiting patiently. "Let's start this photoshoot."
He nodded. "Yes, meet me in my office when you're done."
I frowned my eyebrows. "You're not staying?"
He shook his head. "No, I have business to attend," he patted my shoulder walking away. "Good luck."
I inhaled deeply and walked over to Vanessa smiling. "You ready?"

She nodded and stood. "About time," she smirked. "Where do you want me?"
"Um, back on the stool." She sat down and looked up at me.
"Now what?" I kneeled down in front of here. "Woah I think it's too soon to be proposing to me Y/n."
"Haha," I fake laughed. "Now give me a serious look." Her face instantly went straight as she looked down at the camera.
"Hmm," I hummed looking through the lens. "Put one arm behind your head and the other in the air." She got into position and nodded her head to the music playing in the background.
I snapped a few pictures then shook my head. "Lean back some." She did as I said and I moved closer.
I held her leg and she tensed. I pulled it towards me and tapped her foot. "Put your foot on your leg."
She followed my request and I nodded.
"Perfect."
-
"I think that's all I need." It was around 4 now and we were finally done taking pictures.
We stood and she leaned forward to see the pictures. "Damn Y/n," she put her hand on the camera. "Your pretty good."
I smiled. "So are you."
She looked at me. "Was that a sly way of saying that I'm good looking?"
I chuckled. "Come on Vanessa you know you're beautiful," I looked at her. "I don't have to be sly to tell you that."
She smiled up at me and blushed. "Smooth."
"Thank you I try," I bit my lip. "So I have to get these pictures to Stevie but, if you're not doing anything today I was wondering if you'd like to go grab something to eat."
"Are you asking me on a date?" She tilted her head to the side.
"Maybe."
She hummed. "Well if you're not sure then I'm not sure if I want to grab a bite to eat."
I let out a breathy laugh. "Vanessa Moe, can I take you on a date?"
"That's better," she patted my chest. "Go turn those pictures in and I'll meet you in the lobby."
She walked away and I did a little happy dance as a smile broke out on my face. We're going on a date.
Hell Yeah.
-
"So," I said as I took a sip of my milkshake. "Tell me about Vanessa Moe."

"Um I'm 21, I was born in Denmark, I have a brother named Dion, and I've always wanted to be a model." She said.
I quirked up an eyebrow. "What inspired you to want to be a model?"
She bit her lip and sighed. "Well, when I was younger I always got bullied for being "too skinny," she said putting up air quotes. "I guess it just became a goal of mine to be idolized for my beauty but, as time passed I realized I don't care what others think of me just more so of what they think about themselves if that makes sense."
I nodded putting my cheeks in my hands. "Keep going."
"I just want every young girl out there to know that it's doesn't matter how you look but it does matter how you see and you carry yourself."
I smiled. "Look at you being all inspirational."
"I try," she chuckled. "Your turn," She leaned forward. "Tell me about Y/n Y/ln."
I went to talk but got interrupted by the waitress.
"Here's your food, enjoy." She smiled and walked away.
"Ooo your burger looks good." I reached over to grab a fry but Vanessa smacked my hand away.
"Dont get killed on our first day Y/n," she raised a brow as I chuckled. "Now go ahead, tell me about yourself." She said and took a bite out of her burger.
I smiled and looked down at my plate. "Well as you know I'm 19 so your on a date with a kid." I winked as she giggled.
"I don't know why, I'm obviously out of your league."
"Don't flex," I rolled my eyes as she smiled. "Anyways, I had a sucky childhood, well I didn't actually have a childhood, but I'll save that story for another date."
She hummed. "Ok wait, you think we're going to have another date?"
I nodded. "Of course, your interested in me so your obviously gonna want to go on another date."
"Sure," she shook her head smiling. "Can I know a little bit about that sucky childhood."
"I was going to get to that before you so rudely cut me off." I playfully rolled my eyes.
She scoffed. "I didn't even-"
"Shhhh-"
She threw a fry at me and I caught it.
"Ha jokes on you," I popped the fry in my mouth. "I got a free fry."
"Shut up."
"I thought you wanted me to cont-"
"Y/nnn." She groaned causing me to huff.
"And now you're cutting me off again."
She laughed leaning forward. "Oh my God just continue."
In all honesty, I didn't want to tell her about my "childhood" which is why I'm not sure why I brought it up but, whatever. I just know if I start I won't be able to stop. That's means I'll bring up my dad, and my insecurities, and my third arm...
Ha, I wish it was that big.
"Fine fine," I looked down at my plate. "Look I haven't even started to ea-" I stopped talking as I looked up at Vanessa who was glaring at me causing me to chuckle. "Okay okay, I'll continue."
"Finally."
"Okay so, I have a brother and his name is Travis and um, I live with my gay best friend Quincy."
She laughed. "I feel like he's not gay but you wanted to say that anyway."
I shrugged chuckling. "Maybe maybe not."
"Aw, you have a really cute laugh too Y/n."
I smiled and hummed. "Stop, your making me feel all pretty."
She chuckled and laid her head on her hands staring into my eyes. "You kind of sound like Jim Carrey in Ace Ventura."
My eyes widened and I threw my head back laughing. "Oh fuck you Vanessa."
-
Vanessa and I reached her car. She unlocked her doors and turned to look at me. "I had a good time Y/n."
I nodded. "I'm glad you did," I bit my lip. "It might be too soon to ask but, we're definitely going on another date right?"
She smiled. "Still not sure if you can handle me but, maybe."
Oh, that should be vice versa considering all the problems I have.
I smiled rolling my eyes and leaned forward. Vanessa bit her lip and took a step back leaning against her car door. I smirked and grabbed her waist pulling her body into mines.
"Um, y/n-" I cut her off.
"I can't open the door for you if you're leaning on it." I whispered pulling her door open. I took a step back as Vanessa let out a small laugh.
"Wow." She whispered.
"Have a goodnight beautiful."
She smiled and climbed into her car. "Goodnight Y/n." I closed her door as she started her car and slowly pulled away.
I walked towards my car with a big ass smile on my face.
Wait till Quincy hears about this.

Thief of Time
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Book 1: The Legend of Tot Synopsis: Claud Primus, a self-declared master thief, has a simple goal. To live forever. It's a rather easy task, for miraculous objects called lifestones are able to extend one's lifespan. These lifestones are best found in the treasuries of nobles, lovely resorts that Claud pays a visit to every so often. Unfortunately, one of those nightly visits go awry, and Claud is forced to escape with just a single lifestone and a box in hand. Normally, that's when things die down. The guards yawn, the gates close, and the night continues. But this time, the night isn't that forgiving. A dozen schemes result in the murder of someone important, and with a convenient scapegoat — Claud — at hand, it doesn't take long for him to be framed as a heinous criminal, wanted for the indirect murder of someone high up...and it just gets worse from there. Book 2: The Moon Lords' Rise Synopsis: As ordered chaos sweeps across Licencia, Claud leaves for Julan Barony, intent on making some profits there. Accompanied by the erstwhile heiress of Julan, a fellow member of the Moon Lords, the two plot against the barony's wealth...as well as a promise to bring about its downfall. Meanwhile, back home, the Moon Lords have busied themselves with digesting their gains. Eyes, however, are beginning to turn to this proverbial fish in a small pond. The fishermen are coming. When they cast their hook, what will Dia and the others do? Book 3: Murders under the Moons Synopsis: In the sleepy town of Nachtville, where Claud and Lily are forced to stop at, a set of nasty murders occurs. Victims scream out in fright, before a spear falls from the sky to end their suffering. Cowed and cautious, the master thief and his partner slink in the shadows, their objective that of home... A new task, however, has fallen on Dia. With a trusty helper at her side, she has to set off towards Nachtville itself, to solve the mystery Claud had abandoned. Faced with an enemy whose sole skillset is geared towards killing, how will they succeed? And what dark secrets will they find? Book 4: In the Dark of the Moons Synopsis: The year has ended. The four months of the full moons will soon be followed by two months of the new moons. Duke Istrel's ascension is around the corner. Amidst this political upheaval, Count Nightfall, Licencia's strongest defender, has been called away. The Moon Lords' largest task yet — to protect Licencia in the absence of its ruler — has begun. And yet, trouble is unrelenting. A distinguished personage, one that Claud fears, has been found dead in the county, his brains dug out and his body disemboweled. The inquisitors of the White Church have been dispatched to investigate and apprehend the murderer...as well as the person behind this puppet. Tormented by a call to fight, Claud directs his eyes out of the city, looking for the puppetmaster. Skulking in the shadows, the master thief will soon confront his greatest foe yet. A foe just like him. Book 5: Moonlit Tides and Darkened Seas Synopsis: A new era has begun. For the privileged, the sands of time dribble away for every passing moment, counting down to the arrival of a entity of mythical proportions. The night now harbours shadows and fog, and operatives of the Moons and the Dark clash in shadow. Claud, as usual, is investigating a spate of nasty disappearances in the city, but little does he know what these disappearances truly mean. And yet, a tide is coming. When it finally breaks, what will he do? Book 6: Secrets in Shadow Synopsis: The person behind a strike that would enter the annals of history flees his home, bringing with him the person closest to his heart into a new land and into a new world. Having left Istrel for the first time in his life, the two of them attempt to settle down in foreign lands, only to be caught in the middle of hostilities between two mighty powers grappling for dominion. Yet, none of that has anything to do with him. Following his desires, Claud eventually makes his way to the fabled Celestia Ruins, a fragment of another world. Bearing witness to truths he cannot yet comprehend, he returns from his exploration, a small break away from the machinations of destiny. One thing, however, is for certain. Destiny will not wait for him. Book 7: Reddest Rage Synopsis: Destiny churns on, heedless of mortal machinations, and Claud watches as the battlegrounds between the Moons and the Dark are drawn up. With the forces of the great Dark occupying Lostfon, Claud comes to a startling realisation — that he may have very well be a murderer of heinous proportions. Grappling with that realisation, he struggles to prepare for his Second Tutorial... Back in Istrel, Dia finds herself confronted with a perennial truth. Even in a time of writhing destiny, the machinations between nobles never cease to end — and unfortunately for her, the group once known as the Moon Lords are forced into dealing with a petty squabble between two counts. What they didn't account for, however, was the startling discovery they would soon make... And the shadow of the Red God's Holy Son behind it all. Book 8: Darkness Descends Synopsis: Nightmares haunt the horizon as Claud sinks and awakens from a seeming dream. What was once illusory begins to play out before him, in a way he cannot imagine. Dia, forced to wield arms, begins and ends a battle that opens her eyes to the vast dangers that lurk in this sundered world. Under the banner of humanity and divinity, she beholds the silent, forgotten protectors of Orb...but there is no forgetting the battle between the divinities. The Dark descends, the Moons writhe, and the horns of war blow once more. But this is not their battle. Not yet. Book 9: Moons Muster Synopsis: As more and more events fall into place, Claud finds himself desperate. Not for himself, but for the person who has turned into his world. Armed with the knowledge of a certain future, he approaches the only person that could possibly help him in his time of need, trading information for a promise of help. With that as solace, he returns to the grim task of understanding and seeking, revisiting an ancient, shattered fragment of another world...unleashing changes that he never knew was possible. Back in Istrel, Dia and the others must now navigate around a familiar spirit, who seeks to investigate the death of his master's Bearer. With them as prime suspects, the Seekers of Life must move carefully...but the Coloured Gods are not the only divinities eyeing them closely. The Moons, bristling from repeated defeats, are looking for new recruits, and the Seekers of Life are prime cannon fodder. Above all, destiny marches on, the unfeeling clock a warning to all. The Trial of Aeons will soon arrive. Book 10: Destiny Divine Synopsis: ??? Release frequency: one every few days or something, I guess. (This work is also being serialised on Webnovel under the name Revile as a trial run)
