《Prince's Assassin Mate ✔》Chapter 09

Writers POV
The light grew steadily outside until the curtains glowed just the same as stained glass. She stuck her head behind the fabric to survey what the day might bring. The grassy yard was slick with water, though the puddles remained quite still, no hint of rain still falling. Above the clouds were still grey but without the denseness of yesterday, allowing patches of blue to form.
She walked back to her bed and sat down. The horizon was just beginning to take on gold hues, and the sun had not yet risen. She awoke an hour ago, having gotten the most sleep she had in years. There was still an hour until dawn. Throughout the hour, she tried to find her way out of this castle, or at least out of this room. She still can't believe The Prince put metal bars on the balcony, preventing her from jumping out. Did she mention the guards stationed just down the balcony and outside the bedroom door? She turned to face the man, who was sleeping soundly on his stomach. His dark hair was messy, and he had a calm expression on his face. She did not have the opportunity to see him properly before. His thick lashes were brushing against his cheeks, he had a well-defined jaw and cheekbones, tanned skin, and full plump lips. He wasn't wearing a shirt, so his well-toned back muscles were on display. His muscles flexed in response to his slight movement. He was stunning! She could feel her beast's presence inside her, but it wasn't prominent. She and her sides were weak too. Her beast was also taking in the scene in front of them through her eyes. She took her gaze away from him and stared at the floor, drifting off to her own world of thoughts.
"What are you doing up so early?" She turned to face the owner of the voice. In the morning, his voice was huskier. As he stared at her, his head was resting on his hands.
Through his droopy long eyelashes, his beautiful sapphire blue eyes looked straight at her. She hadn't noticed it before, but he had dark circles under his eyes and his features appeared tired. He arched his brow in anticipation of an answer when she noticed she was staring at him.
"I got enough rest." He frowned at her statement, looking at the clock on the wall and back at her.
"It's only six o'clock, and you've only slept for four hours."
"That was more than enough for me." She stated void any emotion with a cold tone. He still had a scowl on his face. She got up to use the restroom, but he grabbed her wrist gently so he didn't hurt her and pulled her back into bed with him.

She tried to wiggle free from his grasp, but his grip on her waist only tightened.
"Let me go!" She snickered
"Never!"
"Go to sleep, princess," he said, planting a soft kiss on her forehead and dripping his nose in the crook of her neck.
"Don't call me that!" She snarled
"Call you what princess?" She huffed, sensing the smirk forming on his lips. She tried to stay awake, refusing to give in to his wishes, but her eyes soon became heavy, and she fell into a deep sleep in his arms.

The alarm clock on his bedside table was set to go off, but he was quick to snooze it. He returned his gaze to his soundly sleeping mate in his arm. Her face was serene, and despite the cuts and bandages on her face, she was looking stunningly beautiful. She refused to sleep earlier, and now he doesn't want to wake her up because she's sleeping so soundly. He begins to sit up, but her grip on his arms tightens, and she snuggles closer to him in her sleep. A frown appears on her lovely face, and he gently caresses her cheeks. He quickly gets up and replaces his position with his soft pillow, and she nuzzles close to the pillow. He softly peeks her forehead, causing a soft smile to form on her lips.
-
There were soft knocks on the door as she awoke little by little blinking a few times as she adjusted to the bright room. She was surprised at first when she awoke in a different room than her usual one. There was another soft knock, and she got up, moving closer to the grand double door she responded
"Yes?"
"His Highness requests your presence in the hall for breakfast," a male voice said from behind the closed door.
She doesn't say anything and returns to her bed. She still can't believe how quickly her life was turned upside down. The assassin, who had been hidden from all eyes, has now been revealed to the world. What if it was discovered that she had murdered so many of their beloved leaders? What is her master going to do to her? She did not report back! Hell, she did not even complete the assigned job! He will severely punish her when he finds her! Maybe before that, the King and his people will figure out who she is and do the punishing part! She needs to get out of here as fast as she can. Her beast growled at her weakly at the thought of leaving their mate again. They were healing much faster than the previous time. Which is a good thing, it would be easier for her to flee. She was about to get up when the double door opened, revealing her mate in his full glory dressed in a white shirt and dress pants. His shirt fit perfectly over his well-toned body, and his sleeves were rolled up to his elbow. His hair is neatly styled, and he has a relaxed expression on his face. His blue eyes begin to darken as they take in her entire form, becoming fixated on her bare legs.

He lets out a low growl, and she looks down to see that she is only wearing a t-shirt that reaches her mid-thigh. She pulls back under the blanket, suddenly feeling vulnerable under his gaze. He shifts his gaze elsewhere, coughing, and asks,
"Why didn't you come downstairs, princess?"
"What makes you think I'd go downstairs? And don't call me that!" She questioned back, raising an eyebrow.
"Because I had told you to come for breakfast."
"And who might you be ordering me?" She crosses her arms void of any emotion.
"I'm your Alpha." He glared at her, as no one has ever spoken to him in that manner.
"As in a Greek alphabet?" She arched her eyebrows.
"Just come downstairs and have breakfast." He turned around, scowling at her.
"I'm not hungry. First, tell me what's the point of kidnaping me?"
"I didn't kidnap you."
"Yeah, and chicken has three legs!" She scoffed.
"Don't make me carry you downstairs, I wouldn't mind though." His lips curl up in a smirk.
"How about I am not interested?"
"Okay..." He shrugs.
He takes a few steps forward before coming to a halt in his tracks. His eyes become cloudy before returning to their normal blue colour.
"Okay, you stay in this room and don't leave. I'll have breakfast brought here, and if you need anything, just ask the guards outside. I'll be right back." Much to her surprise with a soft kiss on her temple before he storms out of the room. She sits for a few moments before walking to the bathroom and taking a relaxing warm shower. After properly cleaning herself, she wraps a towel around her naked body and walks into the walk-in closet. She puts on a long hoodie and sweatpants, much to her annoyance. Even though her beasts appear to enjoy the feel of his clothes on their bodies and the fact that they smell like him. There was a soft knock on the doors as she entered the bedroom.
"Yes?" she asks, a little loudly for the person behind the closed door to hear.
"Your breakfast, My Lady," says a soft female voice.
"Come in," She says and a small female walks in, with a tray in her hands. She has long black hair that is braided, a tanned skin complexion, bright brown eyes, and pink lips. She also noticed cuts, bruises, and scars on her skin that were not covered by clothes. Her aura exudes innocence and purity, and she doesn't appear to be any older than eighteen. Her eyes soften as she notices how tense and terrified she appears.
"Please keep it there," she says, pointing to the small bedside table to her right. She gently keeps the tray in place and looks down.
"What is your name?" she asks softly.
"F-freya, My Lady." She answers in a trembling voice.
"Well, it's nice meeting you, Freya." She says with a small but genuine smile on her face. Freya looks up at her and she smiles too.
"You may leave now." She tells her with the same smile and Freya bows.
"Oh, don't bow please." She says and Freya looks up at her with surprised eyes.
"B-but My La.."
"Just don't bow before me. Okay?"
"Yes, My Lady." She says with a nod and leaves shutting the door with a soft thud.
She lets out a small sigh, thinking about how badly they must have treated the omegas for them to fear the high ranking so much. Her stomach growls as she returns her gaze to the tray of food. She had only had lunch the day before, and after the events of the day before, she is starving.
She quickly finishes her meal and walks into the balcony, which is now surrounded by metal bars. She has to find a way out of here, she thinks. She sits on an armchair on the balcony, taking in her surroundings while her brain devises an escape strategy.

It was late afternoon when Prince Aiden completed his interrogation of the rogues who had the audacity to invade his territory just when he had his mate in his arms. He walks towards his private wing, through the large sitting area, and up the flight of stairs to his bedroom, enthused to see his mate's beautiful face. As he approaches his bedroom, his enthusiasm fades and is replaced by rage and anger, as the two guards stationed in front of his bedroom lie unconscious on the marble floor. He storms into the bedroom, only to find that it is empty.
"Not fucking again!"

The Little Things...
Set in the fictional universe of Runeterra (League of Legends™), the story follows four stout spirits known amidst circles of sorcerers and sages as Yordles on their journey across the vast and fantastical world they inhabit. From the treacherous waves outside Bilgewater to the parched deserts of Shurima and the peaks of Mount Targon. The party at first seeks monetary gain in the acquisition of noteworthy artifacts desired by their employer and fellow explorer, but soon finds that there is more to be gained in the relationship forged along the way and the experiences found within them. This series is more a conglomerate of short stories than a fully fledged novel with every two or three chapters being confined to its own miniaturized arc before another one starts.
