《Smile For Me || Niall Horan》16: A Special Moment

After the show we went back to the hotel. By the time we got there my energy buzz had worn off and exhaustion had kicked in. I was ready for sleep. I definitely needed it after a day like today.
I crawl into bed and turn off the light, falling asleep.
"Come on lazy bones! Keep up!" I call, laughing as I run through a forest I had never seen before.
I couldn't see whoever I was calling to. Eventually I stop to wait for whoever it was. As I look behind me, wondering where they had gone, a pair of arms wrap around my waist.
"Boo," Niall whispers in my ear. I giggle as he rests his chin on my shoulder. "You're it!" he says, running off again. I playfully roll my eyes at his childish games, but run after him anyways.
I was sad he stopped hugging me though. I liked the feeling of being in his arms.
I saw as he stopped for breath, using a bare tree for support as he breathed heavily. His back was facing me so I ran up and jumped on him. We both fell to the ground, laughing as we rolled over the orange and brown leaves. We ended up on top of each other by the time we landed. He was above me, supporting himself with his arm which was planted on the ground next to my head. He smiled down at me and I smiled back up at him.
"I love you Niall," I say to him.
"I love you too," he says back, leaning down and kissing my lips. It was a quick kiss, but it left me smiling. His words repeated themselves over and over.
I love you too.
I love you too.
I love you too.
My eyes open. I sit up in bed, a small smile playing on my lips.

That was strange. I had a dream, but it wasn't a bad dream. It was a nice, happy dream. I woke up smiling instead of crying. But if it was nice why did I wake up in the middle of the night? It left me confused.
I see Niall staring at me from his spot on the couch. He had a half-eaten sandwich sitting in front of him on a plate.
"What was your dream about?" he asks immediately. I was thrown off by his demanding tone.
"Nothing, why?" I lie. He looks at me like he knows something.
"Why won't you tell me?"
"Why are being so demanding all of a sudden?" He looks a bit annoyed for a split second before his expression softens.
"Please tell me?" his tone weakens. I close my eyes and take a breath.
"It was just about...that day at the park. A memory. That time when we met at Starbucks and then went to the playground after." More lies.
He looks at me like he doesn't believe me, but doesn't say anything else. He knew I was lying. He looked a bit hurt by it. I sigh and pat the spot next to me on the bed.
"Come here you big baby," I joke as he rolls his eyes playfully and walks over. He lays down next to me. I rest my head on his chest and he plays with my hair, wrapping it around his finger and letting it unwind and fall down again.
"You know you talk in your sleep right?" he says, looking at me. I bite my lip.
"Oh..."
"Yeah."
Awkward.
"What's wrong?" I ask him, furrowing my eyebrows up at him. I could tell something wasn't right with him. His expression said it all.
"Can we talk?"

"Okay..." I say, confused. "What's up?" He sighs.
"I have to ask you a serious question. Just a simple answer is all I need. But I don't want it to ruin anything between us."
"Niall, what is it?"
"Promise me it won't ruin anything?" He asks. I roll my eyes.
"I promise."
He holds out his pinky and I smile and lock mine with his. He takes a deep breath.
"Today, you said that you love me." I nod my head.
"Like a brother," I remind him.
He rolls his eyes again. "Right. Like a brother."
"So what's your question?"
"Is it...possible...that maybe you could one day love me as something...other than a brother?" He looks at me, studying my face intensely as I think of what to do. "Not right now necessarily but...someday," he adds on.
I didn't know how to answer him. How was I supposed to know what would happen? I couldn't just fall madly in love with Niall and get married like you see in romance movies and shit. I had to be cautious. Love is a fragile thing for me. It's a fragile thing in general. I had to be wise and think before I made silly decisions. I couldn't tell him I would love him one day when I wasn't certain I would. I couldn't tell him that I would never love him in that way because one day I might. No one knows.
I bite my lip and take a deep breath before answering. "Niall....I just..." I hesitate. "I don't know." He sighs.
"It's okay. I get it."
He gets up to walk away, back to the couch. I look at him as he leaves. I get up and grab his wrist gently, making him turn back around.
"Why did you ask?" I question him. He looked sad. When he doesn't answer, instead just looking at me, I ask him again. "Niall, why did you ask?"
He shakes his head. "I shouldn't have. I'm sorry I asked."
"No. Don't be sorry. I just want an answer. You asked your simple question and now I'm asking mine. Why did you ask?" He stares at me for a moment.
I was nervous of his answer. Part of me knew what he would say. But part of me doubted he would admit to it. I wanted him to tell me and reassure me that I wasn't the only one feeling like that. But I didn't want to mess up the relationship we had.
Ugh. Love is so confusing.
He doesn't say anything to answer my question. Instead he does something I would have never expected.
Something that felt more right than anything I have ever experienced in my life before.
He kissed me.

Shadowrun: Blake Island School of Magic
It's a high tech, low life. It's the Seattle Metroplex in 2074. It rises like a steel and concrete cancer out of the earth. Poverty is rampant, corruption is everywhere, crime is out of control, corporations basically control everything, the old United States is fractured, magic has come back and now it turns out that humanity has been joined by elves, dwarves, orks and trolls. The old world ended but the rent is still due. Life goes on. You'd be surprised what people can adapt to, especially if they don't have a choice. One of the places where life goes on is just west of Seattle. Surrounded by the waters of the Puget Sound is an island. On that island is the Blake Island School of Magic. A decade ago it was known for producing some of the most talented awakened in the world. That reputation was hijacked by the wealthy corporate elite who now park their teenage children there. And since it's a boarding school, their parents mostly forget about them. Three young people, who are certainly not wealthy or elite, are chosen this year to attend this school of magic in hopes of revitalizing their reputation for talent. One from the ash drifts of the Puyallup Barrens, one from the most densely populated slum hive in the world and one from prison. This is their story. -- This story is set in the Shadowrun universe. If you're not familiar with Shadowrun, it mostly tells the stories of deniable mercenaries called shadowrunners in a cyberpunk dystopia. Instead of telling another story solely about shadowrunners, this story will tell the tale of young people navigating a world that is indifferent to them at best and actively hostile at worst. Shadowrunners will be in the story and we'll see them operate, but they won't be its main focus. This story originally began in 2017 as a passion project and continues to this day on the Somethingawful.com forums. The unedited version is over a million words strong. There are currently seven books in this series and I am currently in the process of editing them. If you read this story then you won't lack for content. -- The Topps Company, Inc. has sole ownership of the names, logo, artwork, marks, photographs, sounds, audio, video and/or any proprietary material used in connection with the game Shadowrun.
