《The Midnight Man》Part 2 - Chapter 1- Kids?!

Three years later...
Sam's mum, Cindy, was sitting on her lounge when her husband, Kirk, walked in and sat next to her. Kirk was reading the newspaper while Cindy was slowly sipping her cup of peppermint tea.
"Kirk," Cindy said suddenly,
"Yeah," Kirk said, not really listening.
"I-I-I want kids." Cindy stuttered. She looked down at the cup of tea in her hands for a while, before finally looking up and seeing her husband completely frozen. "Kirk?"
"Cindy,"
"Yes?"
"K-kids?" Cindy went silent."KIDS?! ARE YOU CRAZY?!"
"Kirk! I-"
"NO! I WON'T HEAR IT! SERIOUSLY, CINDY?"
"I'm serious! I want kids!" Cindy shouted. Kirk took a deep breath and put his hand on his head.
"Cindy," He started, "We already have a son!"
"Kirk, our son is dead!" Cindy said loudly. Hearing this made Kirk's blood boil.
"CINDY! DON'T YOU DARE SAY THAT!" Kirk screamed, standing up.
"WHAT?!"
"OUR SON IS NOT DEAD! SAM WILL NEVER TRULY BE DEAD! NEVER!" Kirk screamed before walking to his room and slamming the door behind him.
Cindy was still sitting on the couch, holding her tea. Tears streamed from her face as she sat there, alone.
Sam stood in the doorway for a while, staring at his mum crying her eyes out. He walked to the couch and sat next to her for a minute before putting his arm around her shoulders. He would always be there for her, even though she had no idea. Sam got up, once his mum had calmed down a bit and started walking to his dad's room.
When Sam got to his dad's room, the door was wide open and his dad was staring out the window, watching the cars zoom past, with their shining lights flashing. Sam sat on the bed and looked at the floor. Sam was startled when he heard his dad's voice from behind him.

"Hello, Sam," He said. Sam turned around, surprised, and saw his dad looking at him. Sam was speechless. Sam's dad smiled a weak smile before sitting next to Sam on the bed. "It's rude not to answer someone when they talk to you, Sam. I thought I raised you better than to ignore your own father after not seeing him for years."
"Wait. You can see me?!"
"Yep."
"And hear me?!"
"Obviously."
"But, how? I'm dead! I'm a ghost!"
Sam's dad sighed. "Sam, did you ever wonder why I didn't cry when I came back from Hawaii and saw you dead? Didnt you ever wonder why I stayed home instead of going to your funeral?"
"Well, it was a little strange but I just thought you were too sad to go."
Sam's dad chuckled, "No, Sam. It's because I'm a medium. I can see ghosts," Sam was silent for a while.
"But... why?" Sam asked confused.
"what do you mean why?"
"I mean, why now? I've been dead for three years, and you have not even looked at me during that three years. So, why now? What changed?"
"I-I cant let your mother just replace you like that."
"Dad, its ok."
"What?"
"Its ok. If she adopted some kids, then she would have something to do everyday other than sit around and be miserable thinking about me."
"You sure?"
"Positive. Go adopt some kids; As many as you want!"
"Ok, thank you Sam,"
"Just promise me one thing,"
"Anything"
Sam took a deep breath and closed his eyes, holding back tears. He had to make his dad do this, it was for the best. Sam opened his eyes and finally spoke, "Move somewhere else. Dont let the kids know I ever existed, don't tell them anything, especially about The Midnight Man. They cant know. they don't understand the danger, no one does, until its too late." Sam's dad was silent for a few minutes, his brain processing everything.

"Ok, son. I promise." And with that, Sam's dad got up and walked out of the room, closing the door behind him. Sam laid down on the bed and started crying hysterically.
Cindy was still downstairs, sipping her ice-cold tea.
"Cindy," Kirk said, walking in and sitting down next to his wife,
"Kirk," She replied
"I'm sorry for how I acted." He said.
"Me too"
"So, kids?" He asked. Cindy's head snapped up.
"Really?" She said, her face lighting up.
"Really."

BOOK 1 DONE. THE STORY WILL PICK BACK UP IN THE REWRITE, BUT THIS DRAFT IS COMPLETE. BIG NOTE: This story is currently being rewritten. However, the rewrite has strayed so far from the original that they're hardly the same story anymore. If you want a better story with higher-quality writing and much better pacing, check that one out. (If you liked this story and want to show your support, consider rating the rewrite! I would be super appreciative if you did!) When a mystic has reached the peak of their world’s growth, they are able to ascend, leaving it behind in favor of a higher, more potent plane. Since the dawn of existence, ambitious prodigies have pushed the boundary of what seems possible, ascending beyond countless worlds in search of the peak. Hong Tang Kiro… is not one of those geniuses. However, his twin sister just might be. Secluded on a border world and selected for their talent in fire mana, the siblings are unknowing participants of a centuries-long experiment, hosted by a powerful eccentric on the verge of immortality. Follow the twins as they learn of and attempt to escape their predicament, before venturing out into the wider world(s).

Wandering Dungeon
Garrett finds himself reborn as a small crystal, a dungeon core. Why does he exist? How did he get here? His dungeon guide will have to work extra hard to make him a great dungeon, but how is Garrett suppose to become a great dungeon if he can't even create monsters? This story might sound like a standard dungeon core story and might be a little slow or awkwardly paced sometimes, (This is my first story that I'm seriously writing) but I promise it is a dungeon story unlike any others. Any and all comments and reviews are welcome. They will help me learn and become a better writer so I can provide a better and more well written story for you and others to enjoy.
