《Behind the mask - Erik Killmonger》Chapter 14

'GET READY TO FIGHT!' M'Baku yells. All the people march outside. Erik picks me up bride style and carries me to Shuri's workplace. 'Just like old times.' I joke. He takes a cotton swab with alcohol on it and begins to clean my wound. When it touches my skin I wince immediately. 'I'm sorry.' He apologizes. 'It's okay.'
I clench my teeth and let him do his job. After he is done he binds a colored scarf around my waist. He places a kiss on my forehead. 'I'll be right back. I love you.' 'I love you too.' I smile.
He transforms into his Golden Jaguar after he takes a tube full poison and smears it on his claws. He winks at me and leaves. I get up with great difficulty. I walk to the big window. What I now see before me.. no one should see. Dead bodies are scattered around the battlefield. I see a few Wakandans and Jabari's among the dead bodies.
I see Erik scratching a few outsiders with his claws before they fall lifeless on the ground. The poison that he chose, works in a matter of seconds. It is so powerful that you die immediately. For the first time in many years, I burst into crying. Nobody should live like this, seeing death everywhere and every time, is mentally exhausting.
After the alarm sounded I quickly put my armor on, grabbed my weapons and rushed outside with Shuri beside me.
I see thousands and thousands of people fighting. I see the outsiders struggling. We have many more warriors, more than they expected. A guy runs our way with a knife in his hand. 'I got this.' Shuri laughs. She raises her blasters up and blasts the guy away before he gets a chance to attack.

I run towards the battlefield. An outsider is about to kill one of our warriors.. when I push my sword deep in his chest.
After I have just finished killing an outsider, someone sneaks up behind me. I can feel it. I quickly turn around and stand in defense mode. The woman I despise the most at this point stands before me. 'Leena.' I growl. 'Hello baby.' She smiles. 'I'm gonna enjoy killing you.' I grin wide. She steps forward and swings her sword. I easily dodge the attack. 'Too slow.' I kick her in the stomach. She tumbles for a moment but recovers herself quickly.
She tries to kick me in my manhood but I swiftly grab her leg and pull her forwards making her fall. 'This is for Yara.' I say before scratching her multiple times in her stomach. 'AH! Erik stop! I love you!' She cries. 'YOU DON'T LOVE ME!' I yell. 'N'Yarai... Is using you.. I tried to.. to warn you. But you ne... ver listen. Be care.. ful.' Then she whispers in my ear something I never thought N'Yarai would do. 'Don't let.. her.. win.' She says weakly before taking her last breath.
Suddenly, the horn sounds. The horn that W'Kabi blows when we have won. Victory is ours! 'WAKANDA FOREVER!' I yell. Everyone follows my lead.
I have watched the whole battle go down. After W'Kabi sounded the horn they all return inside. I look at the snow. It was first a beautiful white color. But now it's a dirty red color. I look at the dead bodies that are being thrown in the sea by the guards. Poor people. They didn't know what they were getting into..
The door opens. I don't bother looking at the person. Nobody has to know that I've been sitting here crying like a baby. 'N'Yarai.' My father's voice tickles in my ear. 'Yes M'Baku?' 'Are you okay?' He asks while rushing to my side. I nod. 'I've been through worse.' And this true. When I was 17, I had been stabbed with a Kamikura sword.

And when I tell you that it felt like absolute hell. I felt as if my organs where being grated.
He sits next to me and wants to say something until the door opens again. I look and see Erik standing in the doorway. 'I'll speak to you later.' My father says before he places a kiss on my head and leaving. I run to Erik forgetting my pain. I hug him. 'Are you okay? Are you in pain?!' I ask concerned. He looks at me with a blank face.
He has killed many people before right? Then why is he acting so weird? He unwraps my arms from his torso.
I look at him with furrowed eyebrows. 'Erik, what is going on?'
'I'm breaking up with you.'

The Emperor's Concubine
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] The heroine is good and the villainess is evil. That was the absolute truth. That rule was undeniable as well as the fact that only the heroine would receive true love and her happy ending. Likewise, the malicious villainess would always suffer and leave the stage to clear the path for the perfect heroine in the end. So, for Blanche it felt like her world came crashing around her when she remembered the truth about her life. As the villainess in the typical romance novel “To Be Empress” she was fated to be condemned and abandoned by her lover. No matter how devoted she was to Theodore Estien, the emperor of Artias, she would only be the bratty concubine that would obstruct the heroine, who happened to be Theodore's lawful wife and the empress. In the end, the villainess would be deserted and executed. It was destined to happen like this, and yet she couldn't give up. She had to change the future. Preventing the romance between the main characters would get her killed. Much like trying to steer away from the enemies' intrigues, in which she was already caught up, would. But neither the heroine nor the emperor's political rivals would change the fact that Blanche loved the man that was supposed to be the heroine's. And no matter what happened she would always stay by her lover's side. So she wouldn't just follow the book's storyline and let her own doom arrive. Blanche would survive while trying to suppress all of the selfish desires that had made her the villainess. But was she truly fine with that? Did she not desire more than just surviving? Did she even have the right? Could the villainess ask for a happy end? Was she too brazen if she just wanted to stay with the man she loved and receive his affection? And wasn't there a bit more to this novel than she remembered? She didn't know and in the end that mattered little when the world around her changed with each day as more and more questions about the future and the past arose. "The Emperor's Concubine" will be updated thrice a week (usually on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) *The Profanity tag was added due to the characters' occasional swearing, which should not happen too often.
