Sam spoke over the phone as the three of us walked through the city of Latvia. "Hold on. Hold on. I know, I know. Listen, pack an overnight bag and take the boys."
"What happened?" I asked as Sam pulled the phone down from his ear.
"Karli called Sarah. She threatened my nephews." Sam explained before putting the phone back to his ear. "Okay. Go somewhere safe. Only pay cash. Alright? Let me know when you get there. I know. Look, I love you. I'll never let anything happen to you and the boys. You know that. Okay. Bye."
Sam hung up the call, putting his phone into his pocket before speaking again. "Karli wants to meet. She left a contact number."
Sam's phone then chimed, a message from Karli saying where to meet her. Rooftop above north plaza. Now.
"She said come alone." Sam noted.
"We're coming with you." Bucky told him and I gave a nod of agreement.
꧁꧂
After getting our suits on, Sam wearing his signature red and grey with his wings on his back and Bucky in his winter soldier outfit, I wore my usual purple and black suit that Tony had made for me a few years back, the three of us had arrived where Karli wanted to meet Sam.
"Karli!" Sam shouted, standing in the middle of the space amongst the building. Karli leaned herself over the stone balcony, showing herself to us.
"You called my sister? That's how we're gonna play this?" Sam queried as we joined her upstairs.
Sam walked closer to her whereas Bucky and I dropped back. "Sam I would never hurt her. I wanted to understand you better. I see you, um, didn't come alone." She said, pushing herself off the stone.
"You have to end this now." Sam told her.
"I don't wanna hurt you. You're just a tool in the regimes Im looking to destroy. You're not hiding behind a shield. If I were to kill you it would be meaningless. I was gonna ask you to join me. Or do the world a favour and let me go."
Sam and Karli stood looking at each other for a moment before Sam's head snapped in the direction of Bucky and I. "It's Walker."

Bucky climbed onto the stone wall just as Karli did, the two of them clashed into each other but Bucky was the only one who got delayed. As he crashed to the floor, I jumped down, landing by his feet.
I grabbed Karli's arm, she turned around and swung at me but I managed to duck in time to miss it. Throwing a strong, quick hit I managed to knock her in the face, making her mask slightly fall. As she placed the mask straight again on her face, I took an opportunity to kick her legs from under her.
That was when Sam jumped down, taking over the fight. As he and Karli fought, I went over to Bucky who was still laying on the floor. I gave him my hand to pull him up just as Sam turned to us after knocking Karli down.
"I'll send you the location. Go!" Sam raised his voice.
Sam got his robotic wings out, Bucky ran in one direction and my wings lifted me up, following after Sam.
꧁꧂
Sam was first to crash through the roof window, glass shattering everywhere inside. I landed inside after him, wrapping my wings close to my body as to not cut them when I passed through the broken glass.
Sam looked to me, nodding in front of us for me to follow him. I gave him a singular nod back, showing him I understood. Just as we took a step, one of the flag smashers came tumbling down the stairs, crashing and denting the wall. After him came storming John Walker, the two have a little fight before Sam and I.
John managed to bend a piece of metal tubing the flag smasher was using as a weapon and my eyes almost popped out of their sockets. Crap. John threw the other man again and once he was back on two feet he ran off, clearly now scared of Walker.
"What the hell did you?" I asked John urgently as he began walking past me and Sam.
"They've got Lemar." Was all he said, Sam then rushing after him and I reluctantly followed with a roll of my eyes.
After a short while of running through the old building, the three of us came to a gradual stop inside a larger room on the top floor. The roof had stained windows of different shades of green, a few tables lined up in the middle of the floor and some curtains draped around.

My eyes scanned the area slowly, taking in every little detail that I could. As a realisation sunk in me, my eyes softened and I jolted to face behind us. Just as I did, three Super Soldiers jumped down which got John and Sam to turn around as well.
John threw his shield which hit the three but didn't take them out. As John and Sam had their own fights, I had mine.
Lifting myself off the floor slightly, I pushed my feet forward into the Soldier's chest, making them get knocked back. As they lay on the floor, picking themselves up, I stalked towards them. Grabbing them by the arm, I threw them back towards the wall behind them by the stairs, landing with a hard grunt.
They were quickly up again and charging at me. I tried to block them but they managed to grip onto my wings, wrapping their legs around my waist. As hard as I tried, they weren't moving and I had no way of getting them loose. The weight on my wings hurt and I did the first thing that came to mind.
I ran backwards, slamming myself and the Super Soldier into the wall. The two of us grunted as I continued to do so until they'd fallen loose.
As the fight went on, I had seen Bucky join us in the corner of my eye. He appeared to be having a sort of knife fight with one of the super soldiers, doing all types of knife flips which was pretty attractive.
During our fight, the Super Soldier got a hold of me and lobbed be across the room, my body hitting the tables and then sliding off until I'd hit a pillar. A slight cry of pain came from me as the dark feathers of my wings ruffled behind me as they came in contact with the concrete.
John got held of by a Soldier when Karli came running in with a knife in hand. Shortly after, Lemar ran at her, pushing her away from stabbing John. Once her and Lemar were up on their feet again, she hit him, which sent him flying back. His body headed for mine, luckily I had managed to roll out of the way before he hit me. Instead, his body went smack into the pillar, much like I had.
Silence was all that filled the room as the hard pillar cracked at his blow. I was positioned on one knee, resting my arm on the other as my wings slowly sunk behind me and my whole face weakened at the sight of Lemar's lifeless body as his head flopped to his shoulder.
John pushed the Super Soldiers away from him, then just as shocked as us, and made his way to his best friend.
"Hey. Hey. Hey. Lemar. Lemar." He begged continuously, holding Lemar's face in his palm.
Karli and her Super Soldiers left, knowing that Walker would most likely be out for revenge. Sam and Bucky followed, however I didn't move. I watched as John's eyes followed them.
He was then suddenly on two feet and ran to the window, pushing his body through the glass and landing on the ground outside. I was following after him, flying out the same window.
Flying overhead, I ended up losing John as he went through an alleyway that was too small for me to fly in. I searched the area, keeping a sharp eye for Walker or the Super Soldiers.
Soon, I had spotted the familiar red, white and blue of John's suit. He stood above one of the Super Soldiers. The man begged, "it wasn't me. It wasn't me." But John lifted the shield, shouting in anger and sadness, bringing it back down. Up and then down. Over and over again, hitting the same spot until the man's face was beaten to a pulp and red blood coated the ground. And the shield.
Bucky and Sam jogged to my side, one either side of me. My blood ran cold, my eyes filling with water threatening to spill as I stared at the bloody corpse.
Reluctantly, I looked to John. I saw the very thing Steve never was, the last thing Steve ever could be.
A large crowd had formed, people recording with their cellphones. John Walker was fucked.
