my ringing phone in my hand with Hayley's name on the screen. I answered it, walking to stand in the middle of the pathway on the plane.
"Hayley?"
"Holy crap! Eris, you scared the living shit out of me!" She shouted over the phone, making me pull away from the phone a little. "Are you okay?"
"I'm alright, Hayley. Why?"
"Because I know about your little fight at the shipping containers."
"How do you know about that?" I queried.
"I have access to your phone and I tracked it and then hacked into the security cameras at the harbour. I saw the whole thing, you were awesome!"
"Hayley! You tracked my phone?!" I practically shouted, making Zemo, Sam and Bucky look at me with concerned faces.
"Only for your safety. You should be happy that I care enough to track your phone."
"Do not track my phone again! Don't forget who pays the bills, even when she's not there!"
"Oh please, I would pay the bills but-"
"But you don't have a job. So don't track my phone again, got it?"
"Mhm. Got it."
I shut my eyes and sighed as I listened to the typing of a keyboard across the phone. "That better be you un-tracking my phone."
"Okay, one- that's not how it works. And two- I'm gonna track your phone cos I worry for you."
I groaned, "Fine." I gave in, knowing that tracking my phone made Hayley feel better about where I was and if I was okay. "I'll be home in a week or so, maybe. I'll call you when we land, okay?"
"Yeah, just stay alive, alright? I need you."
"I'll try my best." I light-heartedly joked, making us both slightly laugh. "I'll talk to you soon."

"Yeah, soon. Oh! And tell Sam and Bucky I say hi."
I laughed again, "okay. I will do." And with that, I pulled the phone away from my ear and hung up, sitting back down again. "Hayley says hi." I told them, looking from Bucky to Sam.

Zemo's place he'd taken us to was nice, and I mean really nice. The ceiling was high up and the lights were fancy, little detailing on the walls and an intricate flooring design. The best bit, the overly-large sofa in the middle of the room.
"Well the Wakandans are here. They want Zemo. Bought us some more time" Bucky said after coming back from his walk.
"Were you followed?" Sam asked him, sat on one of the stools at the island in the kitchen.
"No."
"How can you be so sure?" Zemo questioned, wearing a navy blue robe after coming from the bathroom.
"Cause I know when I'm being followed."
"It was sweet of you to defend me at least." Zemo commented, turning away from the stained-glass window.
"Hey, you shut it. No ones defending you." Sam remarked, "you killed Nagel."
"Do we really have to litigate what may or may not have happened?"
"There's nothing to litigate. You straight shot the man."
"Sam." Bucky said, looking at his phone.
"What?" Sam said as we both turned our heads to look at Bucky.
"Karli bombed a GRC supply depot."
"Holy shit! What's the damage?" I questioned with an expression of pure shock.
"Eleven injured, three dead. They have a list of demands and are promising more attacks if those demands aren't met in full." Bucky explained, reading off his phone.
Sam sighed as Zemo spoke again. "She's getting worse." Zemo said, "I have the will to complete this mission. Do the three of you?"

"She's just a kid." Sam told him as I made my way around the island to stand by Bucky and poured myself a drink.
"You're seeing something in her that isn't there." Zemo said, "you're clouded by it. She's a supremacist. The very concept of a Super Soldier will always trouble people. It's the warped aspiration that led to Nazis, to Ultron, to the Avengers."
"Hey, those are our friends you're talking about." Sam said, his voice deep.
"The Avengers, not the Nazis." Bucky clarified.
"Karli is radicalised, but there has to be a peaceful way to stop her. Sam's right. She is just a child." I spoke up, holding a glass of water in my hand.
"The desire to become a superhuman cannot be separated from the supremacist ideals. Anyone with that serum is inherently on that path. She will not stop. She will escalate until you kill her." Zemo paused, "or she kills you."
"Maybe you're wrong, Zemo." Bucky stood up straight, "the serum never corrupted Steve."
"Touché. But there has never been another Steve Rogers, has there?"
"Well, maybe we should give him to the Wakandans right now." Bucky suggested, wandering the room over to the sofa.
"And you'll give up your tour guide?"
"Yes."
"From my understanding, Donya is like a pillar of the community, right?" Sam queried. "So, when I was a kid, my TT passed away."
"Your-your TT?" Bucky asked from the couch, confusement and curiosity mixing in his tone.
"Yeah, my TT, yeah."
"Who's your TT?"
"Fine. When I was a kid my aunt passed away," Sam clarified, making Bucky roll his eyes and head. "And the entire neighbourhood got together for a ceremony. It was like a week long. Maybe they're doing the same thing for Donya."
"Yeah, yeah. When my mother died everyone in Asgard payed their respects, there was a big ceremonial funeral for her." I added, backing up Sam's point.
"Worth a shot." Bucky gave in.
"Your TT would be proud of you." Zemo said, "Turkish delight." He tossed the Turkish delight to Sam and the one to me. "Irresistible."
꧁꧂
"Shame what's become of this place." Zemo commented as we walked down an outside area among a building. "When I was young, we used to come here for fabulous dinners and parties. I knew nothing of the politics of the time, of course, but I remember it being beautiful."
People lifted big barrels, moving them around whilst kids ran around playing.
"I'm gonna take a look upstairs." Sam said, looking up at the building. "See what you can find out here. And keep an eye on him."
"I'll stay out of your way." Zemo held his hands up slightly and Bucky looked at him with his signature stare.

First Draft
Taking care of someone was hard. Harder still when the only job you can find is a graveyard shift at your brother's school, which is apparently haunted by a man claiming to be the devil. Oh, no, how horrific. I'm so scared. So, terribly, horribly, atrociously scared. Whatever shall I do? My life as a janitor is a simple one, and that clingy asshole won't leave me alone, so forgive me if I don't put enough gravitas into the situation. The only really scary prospect to this whole thing is that the KKK is in town, and I really don't want to deal with their bull. The gang activity is enough, why do we need to have an all-out war on school grounds? That will be too much for me to clean as a poor, lonely graveyard janitor. Old Summary: My gaze raised, and I observed the darkened face of the ghost, only visible feature being glowing red eyes. They faded into darkness, and I thought the offer over even as the body seemed to grow heavier in my arms. My first friend since this whole thing started, a few years ago. My brother needed to survive. That didn't mean I did. "What's the price?"
