《People Meet Percabeth》Darrius

Darrius' POV:
"Hey Percy," I call out casually. "What to come to my birthday party? It's on Saturday. We are going to have a paintball fight!"
"Sure! Can I bring my girlfriend?" Percy asks. I nod. I had met Percy's girlfriend at a recent swim meet when we were briefly introduced to each other. I wanted to get to know her more.
" "Kay, see you Saturday, man," Percy holds out his fist and I bump mine against his.

Saturday morning...
The doorbell rings and I know who it is. Percy and Annabeth. They are the only one's who aren't here yet. I open the door to see the pizza man. Huh. I guess I was wrong.
"3 large pizzas?" The delivery man asks.
"Yes," I hand him $50. "Keep the change." He smiles and takes back to the elevators. I set the pizza on the table.
"Guys! Pizza's here!' Everyone attacks it hungrily. The doorbell rings again. I open it to see Percy and Annabeth.
"Hey, Guys! The pizza just arrived! Go help yourself!"
"YAS!" Percy heads of to the table. Before you know it, he has 5 pieces of pepperoni pizza down his gullet. Annabeth facepalms.
"Sorry we got here late," Annabeth addresses me. "I couldn't tear Percy away from his Mom's blue cookies." I laugh. I had had Sally's blue cookies and they were heavenly.
"Hey!" Percy complains through a mouthful of his sixth piece of pizza. "They were good!"
"And I see that hasn't limited your appetite!" Annabeth teases him.
"That was just my appetizer!" Percy says reaching for his seventh piece of pizza. Annabeth slaps his hand away.
"Leave some pizza for the rest of the of us!" Percy pouts. The rest of us, including me, stare at them amused. I snap out of it.

"Guys, this is very amusing watching you snipe at each other, but I think that we should move this party along?" The last part is a question.
"Yeah, we get that a lot..." Percy says. "I guess we should get going on this paintball!"

At the paintball place...
"Okay teams!" There are 10 people here, so the teams are even. Percy and Annabeth are on the team opposing me.

About 5 minutes later...
My entire team is drenched from head to toe in paint. And it is all because of Percy and Annabeth. We stand in shock, staring at them.
"Darrius, can we go together against the rest of you?" Annabeth asks. I nod, unable to comprehend what just happened.
"Oooo! Lovebirds! YOU ARE GOING DOWN!" James says.
"Do not call us Lovebirds!" Annabeth glares.
"And we are not going down!" Percy glares. #Scary.

During the game...
"Πίσω σου!" Percy shouts. Annabeth ducks. Wait... did he just shout in Greek? Before I can comprehend that two perfectly aimed paintball splatter on me. On from each side. Two shots. I look up, to see Annabeth and Percy back to back, there faces are mirrors of concentration. They can shoot twice as fast as everyone else. They can anticipate each other's move so easily. That is how I met Percabeth.

Theodran [A Slice of Life, Progression Fantasy]
Release schedule: Thursday and Sunday at 12:00am CST. The world of Uneira is a desolate wasteland full of horrors and danger behind every rock, every bush, and every scraggly tree. Except for inside the Chalices, humanities frontiers and city states that have been protected by colossal white shimmering walls for generations. Only the most exceptional people brave the Unholy Wastes. But, inside of the Aetheline Chalice in its capital of Aethel, rank and status is determined by talent, skill, and archetype, but those that are extraordinary compete for prestige in the Pageship Games, where they’ll climb up the ranks to stardom or earn the right to carve a name for themselves in the Unholy Wastes after winning. *Magic is split up between Talents, Skills and Archetypes. It's my approach with a System like story without the system or other front-end applications of one. It's going to start as a bit of a slowburn coming of age, but that's really only for the first book. **There are three POV characters: Theodran, Modran, and Alanna.

Flashback: Siren Song
The year is 1969. Yancy Lazarus—bluesman, gambler, future world-class mage and fix-it man—is just a dumb, unlucky kid serving with the 3rd Battalion 3rd Marines in Vietnam. With just a few weeks left to go until Yancy gets shipped back to the States, he’s just trying to keep his head down and avoid a body bag—no mean feat in Nam. But when his squad is tasked with conducting a routine patrol deep in enemy territory, everything goes to nine kinds of hell, and he quickly sees his chances at survival slipping away. When the radio operators start to pick up some funky, dirty ol’ blues all the way out in the backcountry, it’s a nice change of pace. At least until the men in Yancy’s squad start losing their minds, turning on each other with murderous intent as the music works its deadly power within them. Convinced it’s some kind of new psychological warfare initiative, the squad leader forces the men to push deeper and deeper into the Vietnamese jungle, obsessed with locating the music’s source. What they find, however, isn’t some new technology, but an ancient spirit awoken by the terrible war. Even worse, the music is changing Yancy too, awakening something buried inside of him. Only one thing is certain, nothing is ever going to be the same.See how it all began … *** PRAISE FOR SIREN SONG:Hunter's writing is as low-down, gritty, and insidious as the blues Yancy Lazarus loves. Just like the mysterious music drifting through the jungle toward Yancy's squad, Siren Song will get under your skin and sink its hooks into your mind. —eden Hudson, Author of Halo Bound (the Redneck Apocalypse series) *** Hey everyone, this is James Hunter. This story isn't a full length novel--its a novella length work (25K words), and is part of my Yancy Lazarus series. Its already free on Amazon, so I thought I'd post chapters here for the good folks of Royal Road. If you don't want to wait for updates or would prefer to read it on Kindle, you can pick it up for free here: https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B01066TLC0
