《I Don't Like You - Beomgyu x Taehyun》XIX

looked around the familiar scene. It's only been a few days since they were last here, but it feels like forever ago. He recalled how jealous he had been over Beomgyu that night only to end up going home with that same boy. Taehyun let a small smile play on his lips before shaking his head, "That's all in the past."
"What's in the past?" Beomgyu asked as he placed their drinks down on the table.
Taehyun jumped at the older's sudden appearance, "Wha-I, uh, nothing!" Taehyun felt his heart start to rate as if he was nervous since they were alone and pushed back his hair in frustration, "Why am I still feeling like this?"
"Hey, you shouldn't be ashamed about how you feel," Beomgyu cocked one eyebrow and tilted his head to the right before sitting in the booth next to Taehyun, instead of the one across, pressing him against the wall like before, "Did you mean to say that out loud?"
"It doesn't matter either way," Taehyun narrowed his eyes to the orange colored drink in front of him, "What is this?"
"It's peach tea," Beomgyu pursed his lips together, "I-I remember at Kai's house he got you a bunch of peach drinks and it made you really happy so I figured..." the golden brown haired boy started to trail off, tapping his fingers anxiously against his own cup, and Taehyun felt a bit guilty for his cold attitude.
"Thank you," Taehyun grinned, "It's my favorite kind of tea behind matcha."
"Matcha! That's the kind you got when we were together," Beomgyu scowled, tugging at his collar, "I should have known you'd like that."
"Hey don't beat yourself up over it," Taehyun chuckled, taking a sip of the sweet drink, "I love peach flavored things and I'm surprised you remembered that considering what all happened that night."
"Yeah," Beomgyu sighed, "I'm really sorry about that I just got nervous and I was scared and I-"
"Stop worrying about it," Taehyun hushed Beomgyu by placing his finger against the older's lips. They stared at each other for a few seconds as both of their cheeks grew pink before Taehyun pulled away, "So what kind of drink did you get?" Taehyun asked, taking note of the slightly darker drink.
"Lavender tea."
"Ah, really?" Taehyun couldn't help but smirk, "I wasn't sure if you actually liked it or not, but I guess my gut feeling is pretty smart."
"I wouldn't go that far," Beomgyu giggled, "I actually never had tea before our little," Beomgyu scrunched his nose, "date."
"Is that really what you called it?" Taehyun rolled his eyes.
"Of course!" Beomgyu gasped, "but I have to ask, why lavender? It's an interesting choice."
"I picked it because of your scent," Taehyun replied, nonchalantly.
"My, uh scent?" Beomgyu looked at the younger confused.
"Yeah, your, wait," Taehyun's face suddenly glowed a bright red.
Beomgyu laughed at the younger's sudden change of mood, "I'm guessing you weren't supposed to say that out loud?"
"I meant, I meant, not your scent," Taehyun rubbed his hands together, trying to avoid eye contact with the other, "It's just your soap, and shampoo, and everything was lavender scented so I figured you would like it," Taehyun looked up at Beomgyu who had a goofy smile plastered on his face, "Don't make it weird!"
"It's a little weird," Beomgyu teased the younger, "but it's thoughtful. I'm just grateful you didn't bring me a glass of water."

"I should have," Taehyun playfully pushed Beomgyu.
"Ow!" Beomgyu yelped in pain as he hung his head and grabbed his chest.
"Oh my God Beomgyu, are you okay?" Taehyun reached out and grabbed the older's shoulders, "I'm sorry I didn't think I hit you that hard."Beomgyu tried his best to hold his breath but accidentally let out a slight cackle. "You faker!" Taehyun huffed, letting his hands fall back to his side.
Beomgyu couldn't hold back his laughter anymore, "I can't believe you fell for it."
"Whatever," Taehyun whined, "Keep this up and I'll punch you for real next time," Taehyun lifted a fist causing the older to flinch.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Please forgive me," Beomgyu cowered, a big smile still spread across his face.
"No, I'm going home," Taehyun pouted, "Let me out."
"You can't do that!" Beomgyu frowned, looked back up at the younger, "i have you trapped."
"I'll figure out a way," Taehyun shrugged.
"You can't!" Beomgyu furrowed his brows.
Taehyun snickered, "Watch me."
"But I love you," Beomgyu pulled Taehyun into a bear hug, knocking over his drink in the process.
"You what?" Taehyun dropped his smile, becoming a little more serious. Beomgyu responded by tightening his grip on the younger as he stared at the wall behind Taehyun, his face hot.
'Where did that even come from?' Beomgyu thought as he bit his lip, trying not to cry out of embarrassment.
Taehyun could feel the older tense up and started to play with his golden brown locks to comfort him, "Beomgyu."
"I'm so sorry," the older finally whispered.
"You're really going to be sorry when the barista sees the mess you made," Taehyun lightly hit the back of Beomgyu's head.
"Right," Beomgyu quickly pulled away and walked off to the bathroom to grab some paper towels, making sure to not look at Taehyun.
Once Beomgyu was out of sight Taehyun slouched back in his seat and covered his face with his hands, "What am I supposed to do?" Taehyun let his hands slowly fall down his face, pulling at the skin on his cheeks, "Can someone really change this much in just a week?" Beomgyu returned almost as quickly as he left and attempted to clean up his mess, key word attempted. The paper only spread the water around the table instead of cleaning it up. "Just leave a few paper towels on the table to soak it up," Taehyun finally suggested.
"But I don't want to leave a mess for the workers," Beomgyu explained as he frantically wiped away, causing the paper towel he was using to tear.
"It's a little too late for that, don't you think?" Taehyun giggled.
"R-right," Beomgyu weakly smiled and did as Taehyun said, "Come on let's go. I think you're really going to like what I have planned next."

Soobin stared out of the window from the comfort of his bed. Yeonjun and Kai had left leaving him alone, again. It was pretty safe to say that the brown haired boy was bored. He started to stare off into space, not thinking of anything in particular. His mind was like a a static screen. Suddenly his phone dinged, snapping him back into reality.
Soobin reached over to his nightstand to grab the device and examined it, "A package?"
Soobin really did not feel like getting out of bed but it'll give him something to do, even if it's just a five minute walk to the post office. He grabbed a pair of black jeans and tennis shoes and slid a green and white stripped button up over his already white tee shirt.

"This will work," Soobin smiled to himself, not even bothering to look in the mirror before heading out. It was a bit chilly, but Soobin didn't mind. He enjoyed the cold weather. It reminded him of the holidays at home. Soobin was so engulfed in his memories he arrived at the post office in no time.
"Good afternoon," an elderly voice greeted Soobin as he entered, "What can I do for you today young man?"
"Hello ma'am," Soobin slightly bowed, "I got an email saying that I recieved a package.
"What's your name, sweetheart?" she asked, as she began typing on the computer.
"Soobin," the boy replied as he got closer to the desk, "Choi Soobin."
"Uh huh," the lady continued typing on her computer before nodding, "It says right here you received one package today. Let me go get that for you."
"Yes, thank you."
The elderly lady scurried off to the back and that gave Soobin a chance to look around the office. He never noticed how dusty it was in here. Maybe he'll clean when he gets back home.
"Here you go, sweetie," the woman returned and handed the boy his package.
"Thank you," Soobin smiled before exiting the little building.
Soobin wanted to go back to his room but his excitement took over and sat down on a bench outside. Soobin ran his thumb over the address it was delivered from, it was home. Not wanting to wait another moment he tore open the box to reveal what was inside. He pulled out a bouquet of yellow roses. Soobin examined the delicate flowers and they were beautiful, not to mention yellow was one of his favorite colors. Soobin gently placed them on the bench next to him before pulling out the next item, it was a small turtle plushie. Soobin's lips immediately turned upright as he stared at the soft toy, the turtle's big blue eyes staring back at him. Placing him next to the flowers Soobin pulled out the last item, a folded note.
Dear Soobin,
How are you doing? It's been so long since we've seen you! We miss you so much Soobin, but whenever we see you preform on television you look so happy. Yes, we do watch you, even though you told us not to because you were embarrassed because you're no longer here to stop us! You're so talented and we're so proud of our little turtle. Well, I guess we can't really call you that anymore since you're all grown up. I guess instead of a little turtle you can be..... a tortoise! How does that sound? You're sister said that nickname will make you sound ugly but tortoises are cute in their own unique way, don't you agree? Your brother responded to her by saying it wasn't the name, but you didn't hear that from me! I know this letter is a bit short but we just wanted to let you know we miss you so much and more importantly how much we love love love love love you! Please take care of your health and stay happy up there. We hope you enjoy your gifts.
Love,
Mom, Dad, Sister, Your Favorite Brother, and Your Actual Favorite Brother
P.S. A CALL EVERY NOW AND THEN WOULDN'T KILL YOU
Soobin watched as his tears hit the bottom on the paper, "They still love me," Soobin wiped at his eyes with his sleeves, "Even though I've been busy and haven't spoken to them in a while they still love me."
Soobin quickly threw all of the items back in the box before heading back to his dorm, not forgetting to dial his mother's number on his phone.
-
"My throat hurts," Beomgyu whimpered as they stepped out of the karaoke bar.
Taehyun chuckled, "That's what you get for belching those high notes in Young."
"I have to!" Beomgyu defended himself, "I can't just disrespect Adele like that. I have to sing it right."
"Try telling that to Mr. Jeon and Mr. Kim when we go back to school," Taehyun stuck his tongue out at the older.
Beomgyu froze and his face paled, "T-they don't have to know."
"You're right," Taehyun snickered, "You just better hope you don't lose your voice tomorrow morning." Beomgyu pretended to zip close his lips and held his hands up in defense, causing the younger to laugh. "So are we done?" Taehyun asked, looking up at the sky, 'It's starting to get dark."
"Since when has that ever stopped us," Beomgyu raised his eyebrowns, his voice cracking on the last two words. Taehyun burst into laughter and Beomgyu quickly covered his mouth with his hands, "It's not funny!"
"It's a little funny," Taehyun smiled at the older.
"Okay, I guess it's a bit funny," Beomgyu admitted.
Taehyun shivered as the wind hit them, "So where are we going?"
"Are you cold?" Beomgyu ignored the younger's question.
Taehyun slowly nodded as he rubbed his bare arms,"Yeah," he didn't think they would be out this late so he didn't bother bringing a jacket.
"Here you can take mine," Beomgyu said as he began to take off his pink sweatshirt.
"Beomgyu, it's okay! You really don't have to," Taehyun tried to stop him but it was already too late. Beomgyu now only wore a tank top as he held out his jacket for the younger to take.
"It's fine, I'm not cold," Beomgyu grinned at the younger.
"A-are you sure?" Taehyun questioned, and Beomgyu eagerly nodded. "Thank you," Taehyun took the jacket, blushing, and slipped it on. It was really soft, a tad bit big, but warmed Taehyun up. He felt a bit guilty as he watched Beomgyu try his best not to shake as the wind continues to blow. "Beomgyu," Taehyun softly called out to him.
"Yeah?" the older replied, rubbing his hands together. Taehyun didn't say anything, just held out his hand and Beomgyu hesitantly held onto it. Taehyun smiled as he pulled their hands inside the pocket of the hoodie. It didn't do much but it was the thought that counts, "Thank you Taehyun."
"Where are we going?" Taehyun asked again.
"Let's go back to my dorm," Beomgyu suggested, "I have some white macadamia cookie dough that's waiting to be used."
Taehyun bounced on his toes, "Sounds like fun!"
-
"What are you doing?" Yeonjun eyed Soobin as he entered his dorm, who was sitting in the corner of the room going through several pieces of paper.
Soobin quickly glanced up before looking back down at what he was holding, "Fan mail."
"Oh really?" Yeonjun went to sit next to Soobin but the way Soobin looked at him made him feel like that wasn't a good idea, "What inspired you to go through it all."
"I think I found the love I was looking for," Soobin explained as he reread the lines over and over.
"That's great!" Yeonjun clapped, "Does this mean you're over Beomgyu?"
"If you're just going to taunt me then leave me alone," Soobin stated, picking up a new letter.
"Sorry, I didn't mean it like that," Yeonjun rubbed the back of his neck, "I'm just really happy for you, that's all."
"Thanks," Soobin placed the letter down and motioned for Yeonjun to sit down, "How are you and Kai doing?"
Yeonjun managed to squeeze himself between the wall and Soobin, "Things are going great!"
"Are you sure?" Soobin looked at his friend suspiciously.
Yeonjun scowled, "What's that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing, just an innocent question," Soobin sighed, "You guys were fighting in here earlier, remember?"
Yeonjun's face lit up, "I forgot you were in here for that," he bit his lip, "Look I'm really sorry about all of that."
"It's fine," Soobin rolled his eyes and smiled, "I just want you two to be happy, that's all."
"Thanks Soobin," Yeonjun grinned at the younger.
"No problem," Soobin cheekily smiled and pushed back Yeonjun's hair, "I gotta make sure Mom is happy."
"That's right," Yeonjun smirked.
-
Taehyun couldn't help but grow excited as he watched Beomgyu place the cookies in even rows across the baking pan, "They look so good!"
"How?" Beomgyu questioned the younger, "They're still raw."
"That's when they taste best," Taehyun licked his lips.
"Well you have to wait until they're fully cooked," Beomgyu poked Taehyun's cheek, "I don't want you getting sick."
"But I never get sick whenever I eat cookie dough," Taehyun whined.
Beomgyu shook his head, "You've just been lucky, not immune."
"So?" Taehyun puffed his cheeks, "It doesn't matter how I avoid getting sick as long I don't get sick."
The golden brown haired boy chuckled at Taehyun's whining, "No means no."
"Fine," Taehyun groaned and pulled the pink hoodie over his head.
"Come on," Beomgyu watched as the brown haired boy walked away and positioned himself in to stare a wall, "Don't mope about it."
"I'm not moping."
"If you say so," Beomgyu laughed, when the oven started to go off, "It's time to put the cookies in." Beomgyu walked to the other side of the kitchen island to turn off the alarm and Taehyun took the opportunity to dash to the tray of unbaked cookies and swipe one.
"Taehyun!" Beomgyu yelled as the younger ran to the opposite side of the kitchen island. Taehyun laughed as he started to eat the raw cookie batter. "Just wait until after I put these cookies in the oven."
Taehyun shoved the rest of it into his mouth, "I'm not scared of you."
"Ew, Taehyun," Beomgyu giggled, "At least finish eating before you talk." Taehyun just shrugged as he finished his dessert. Beomgyu waited for Taehyun to turn around before sneaking around the kitchen island and grabbing one of Taehyun's wrists. Taehyun tried to run but Beomgyu was able to grab the other wrist as well.
"Rude," Taehyun huffed.
"I warned you," Beomgyu smiled as he pressed Taehyun's wrists against the kitchen island.
"I know," Taehyun rolled his eyes, "but it was worth it."
"I'm sure," Beomgyu tried not to laugh, "Also you got a little bit of dough on your lip."
"I'd be able to get it off if you'd let go of my hands," Taehyun explained.
"I can help with that," Beomgyu placed his soft lips against the younger's and this time Taehyun didn't mind.
After a few seconds Beomgyu pulled away and they both smiled at each other and it was Taehyun who broke the silence, "Is there still stuff on my lips?"
"Nope," Beomgyu smirked.
"Oh no," Taehyun furrowed his brows in worry, "That's not good!"
"What do you mean?" Beomgyu tilted his head.
"That means you just ate raw cookie dough!" Taehyun gasped, "You're going to get salmonella!"
"It's worth it."

Of Men and Dragons, Book 1
Book 1 is now available on Kindle, or in paperback/hardcover! You can buy it here! Jack crash-landed on a planet where the natives are seven-foot-tall carnivorous cat-lizards currently somewhere between stone and bronze age. The good news is the natives think the ship that crashed into their mountain is a dragon and are steering clear of it. The bad news is they just left one of their own as a sacrifice to appease the beast. No matter what Jack and his AI co-pilot decide, his life just got a lot more complicated... ATTENTION: This is soft sci-fi rather than hard sci-fi, hence why I chose that tag. For those of you unfamiliar with the distinction, here's what Wikipedia had to say. 1. It explores the "soft" sciences, and especially the social sciences (for example, anthropology, sociology, or psychology), rather than engineering or the "hard" sciences (for example, physics, astronomy, or chemistry). 2. It is not scientifically accurate or plausible; the opposite of hard science fiction. Soft science fiction of either type is often more concerned with character and speculative societies, rather than speculative science or engineering. The term first appeared in the late 1970s and is attributed to Australian literary scholar Peter Nicholls.

Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.
