《I Don't Like You - Beomgyu x Taehyun》IX

Taehyun woke up he couldn't move, it felt like he was being crushed by a ton of weight. He lifted his gaze to meet the other boy's sleeping face directly on top of him. Taehyun let out a loud gasp and his face almost immediately started to burn up. Beomgyu started to move around and Taehyun quickly closed his eyes and pretended to fall asleep in case the other woke up. It was only a few seconds later that Taehyun heard Beomgyu curse to himself as he pulled himself off of the younger.
"What time is it?" Beomgyu groaned, his voice husky from just waking up. He turned on his phone, wincing at the bright light, and checked the time. He looked back and forth between his phone and the supposedly sleeping boy and sighed, "There's still a little more time for him to sleep." Reluctantly, Beomgyu got out of bed and started to get ready for the day. He slipped on a tan hoodie with a matching pair of tan sweatpants and packed a second outfit in a bag since he won't be coming back to his room tonight. Next, he went to the bathroom and brushed his teeth. Looking into the mirror, he debated wether he should try to make himself look decent today, but his laziness got the best of him and he just put on a white hat to hide his messy hair and face. After Beomgyu finished getting ready, he figured it was about time for Taehyun to wake up. "Hey, wake up," Beomgyu shook the younger's shoulder.
"Good morning," Taehyun slowly sat up and rubbed his eyes.
"Wow, I don't actually have to drag you out of bed today?" Beomgyu chuckled.
"Be quiet," Taehyun went to swing at the older, but Beomgyu quickly moved out of the way.
"Come on," Beomgyu took Taehyun's hand and pulled him up, "it's time to start getting ready." Taehyun nodded and did as he was told.
After getting dressed and gathering all of his belongings together he found Beomgyu, "Are you ready to go?"
"Of course," Beomgyu ruffled the other's dark brown hair, "I've been waiting on you."
"Hey!" Taehyun whined and took a step back, "I just fixed my hair and now I probably look like a mess."
Taehyun went to walk towards the bathroom, but Beomgyu grabbed onto his wrist before he could leave, "You look beautiful."
"Huh?" Taehyun looked at him confused, hoping Beomgyu didn't notice the shade of pink growing on his cheeks.
Beomgyu, who was the same color, let go of Taehyun, "I-I mean let's go. You look fine and there's not enough time."
"Yeah, ok," Taehyun followed the older as they headed towards the school.
-
"You're pronunciation is awful," Mr. Min scolded Taehyun as he finished rapping the verse he was given, "and you're going too fast. You have to stay in time with the beat."
"I'm sorry," Taehyun looked down and played with the hem of his shirt, "rapping isn't my strong suit."
"I can tell," Mr. Min paused for a moment, "but don't be sorry. Just be better for your next assessment."
"Yes sir," Taehyun agreed, trying to hide the disappointment in his voice.
"Hey, if you need help I'm always here," Yeonjun wrapped his arm around the younger's shoulder after he had sat down.
"I appreciate it," Taehyun smiled at him, "but the last thing you need is an ego boost."
"Hey, my ego isn't that bad," Yeonjun pouted, "Well, it's not as bad as Beomgyu's, right Kai?"

Kai looked up from his phone and turned his attention to the two boys and grinned, "Nobody is as bad as Beomgyu."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Beomgyu interjected.
Kai's smile dropped, "Exactly what is sounds like." Beomgyu just shrugged and returned to his conversation with Soobin. Kai had to admit he was feeling a lot better than he was yesterday, but he still couldn't help being a bit salty when it came to the older.
"Good job on your evaluations everyone," Mr. Min addressed the class, "Some of you still have a lot of work to do, you know who you are." He specifically eyes Taehyun when saying that last part. "Anyways, I'm staying here for lunch today if any of you wanted to use my studio during that time for extra practice," Mr. Min continued, "My next class starts two hours from now, so you'll have a while."
Taehyun almost immediately raised his hand, "I'll come."
"Me too," Yeonjun raised a hand directly after the younger.
"What? Why?" Taehyun lowered his hand and looked at him.
"Because you need all the help you can get," Yeonjun admitted.
"It's ok, really," Taehyun said, "I can do it on my own."
Yeonjun raised an eyebrow, "Do you want to pass this class or not?" Taehyun sighed, realizing the other was right and agreed.
"It's just you two then?" Mr. Min looked at them, "Alright follow me, the rest of you are dismissed."
"Hey don't forget to come to my house after you guys are finished!" Kai called out to them as they were leaving, "Tonight is going to be a lot of fun." They both nodded at him before exiting the room. Kai grabbed his lunch kit out of his bag and went to go where Soobin and Beomgyu were, but they were already gone. Kai laughed nervously. They didn't leave him here on purpose, they were just in a rush because they're so excited for tonight, yeah that's it.
-
Kai entered the busy cafeteria and found Beomgyu and Soobin sitting in their usual spot.
"Hey," Kai greeted, taking a seat next to Soobin, "you guys left me."
"Oh, Kai," Soobin looked at him and back to Beomgyu.
"Is something wrong," the younger asked, concerned.
"Well, I was just hoping Beomgyu and I could eat lunch together," Soobin explained.
"Uh huh," Kai took a sip of his pineapple juice, still not fully understanding what Soobin was trying to say.
"Alone," Beomgyu said, causing him to receive a death glare from Kai.
"Sorry Kai," Soobin patted his back, "You should just go hang out with your other friends today."
Kai sighed putting his drink back in his lunch kit, "You guys are my only friends here."
"Please Kai," Beomgyu looked at him apologetically, "Just for today." He reached out to hold Kai's hand, but Kai quickly moved his away.
"Fine," Kai huffed, "I'll just go sit by myself."
"Don't say that, you're amazing I'm sure you'll make a new friend within no time," Soobin tried to reassure him.
"Doubt it," Kai stood up and grabbed his things.
"Yeah you will," Beomgyu smiled at him, "I'm really sorry Kai, we love you."
"I love you too, Soobin," Kai said as he left. Beomgyu parted his lips in surprise by Kai's cold attitude.
"Are you ok?" Soobin questioned him.
"Has Kai been acting weird to you?" Beomgyu asked, ignoring Soobin's question.

Soobin tilted his head, "No, why?"
"He's been acting really weird towards me today," Beomgyu said, seeming troubled about it, "Like this morning, when Taehyun and I first got to school, he ran up and gave Taehyun a huge hug saying how much he missed him and stuff. Then he looked at me and said 'Oh, you too, I guess' and walked away."
"Hmm," Soobin rested his head in his hand, "I wouldn't worry about it too much. He's probably just going through one of his mood swings again. I'm sure he'll get over it soon."
"But I didn't do anything to him," Beomgyu bleated, pressing his face against the table.Soobin just shrugged and took a bit of his food. "So," Beomgyu looked up, "What did you want to talk about?"
"The rumor," Soobin admitted, causing Beomgyu to sit up.
Beomgyu looked around to make sure nobody was listening, "What about it?"
"Now that a couple of days have passed, I was just hoping you could be honest with me. Are you actually gay?" Soobin asked. Beomgyu sighed, he has had some weird thoughts lately, but that doesn't mean anything. He's straight and that's not up for questioning. "Beomgyu?"
"Sorry," Beomgyu jumped out of his thoughts, "but no, they're still just rumors."
"Ok," Soobin frowned.
"Why?" Beomgyu eyed him suspiciously.
"Just wondering," Soobin shrugged, "Anyways, now that the concert is in two days I wanted to bring up my offer from the cafe."
Beomgyu had no idea what Soobin was talking about, "What offer?"
"Well I guess it was more of a suggestion instead of an offer," Soobin confessed, "I'm talking about the possibility of us flirting with each other on stage."
"Oh," Beomgyu had completely forgotten about Mr. Park's plan. He would of felt more comfortable flirting with Taehyun since they have been spending a lot of time together lately, plus the fact that he had kissed the younger, but Taehyun doesn't know that happened and he didn't want things to become awkward and ruin their friendship, "Sure."
"Great," Soobin looked happy, Beomgyu wasn't really sure why, but it was kind of weird. It was most likely a one-time thing.
"Do you have any ideas yet?" Beomgyu asked him.
Soobin shook his head, "No, because I didn't know who I was going to be flirting with yet. That's why I asked you so early."
"Oh," Beomgyu rubbed his neck, "my bad."
"It's not a big deal," Soobin reassured him, "there's still a lot of time. Plus now that you're here you can help me come up with some."
"Yeah sure."
-
Kai waited anxiously as he watched the clock. He was back at his home, luckily his family was out on vacation so he had the house all to himself for the weekend. His friends should be arriving any minute now and almost as if on cue, he heard a knock at the door.
"I'm coming!" he yelled as he ran downstairs to open the front door. It was Yeonjun and Taehyun. "Come in, come in."
"You should really be more careful," Yeonjun said after stepping in the house.
"What do you mean?" Kai asked, closing the door behind them.
"You called out to us before even checking to see who it was," Yeonjun scolded, "We could have been kidnappers for all you knew."
Kai rolled his eyes, "Ok Mom."
"What?" Yeonjun frowned, "Why does everyone keep calling me that?"
"Because you're such a great mom, Mom," Taehyun teased, joining in on the fun. Yeonjun growled at him.
"So, how did the extra practice go?" Kai asked, leading them to his room.
"I think it went well," Taehyun answered, setting his bag down.
"He's getting better," Yeonjun acknowledged, "but there's still a lot of room for improvement."
"There always is," Kai smiled at them, "Keep up the good work." Another knock was heard from downstairs. "Oh that must be them," Kai started to head to the front door, "I'm coming!"
Yeonjun hit his face with his hand, "I swear he never listens." Taehyun just laughed. A few minutes passed before Kai reentered the room with Beomgyu and Soobin.
"Everyone is here!" Kai exclaimed, "What do you guys wanna do first?"
"I thought you were planning things out?" Soobin asked him.
"I-I thought about a few things," Kai stuttered, "but I wanna see if you guys have anything you wanna do? Plus we have all night to do what I want."
"How about we play a game," Beomgyu suggested.
"Like what?" Taehyun asked.
"I didn't think that far," Beomgyu giggled.
Yeonjun's eyes lit up, "Can we do a dance off?"
"You're gonna win," Beomgyu huffed, "You're so good at dancing, it's not fair."
Yeonjun shrugged with a smirk on his face, "It can't be helped."
"A dance battle sounds fun, but let's do that later," Soobin suggested, "We literally just got here."
Yeonjun sighed, "Promise we'll do one."
"I promise," Soobin said, and the others all nodded in agreement.
"I'm going to go get drinks," Kai announced, "You guys figure out what to play while I'm gone."
"How about we play Truth or Dare?" Soobin proposed, after Kai left.
"That sounds fun," Beomgyu smiled.
"Yeah, let's do it," Yeonjun agreed.
Taehyun wasn't a big fan of the game, but he didn't want to be left out, "Ok."
"Cool," Soobin clasped his hands together as they waited for Kai to return.
"I'm back," Kai declared, holding five bottles of peach juice. Taehyun clapped his hands together and bounced on his toes, they were his favoirtes. Kai laughed as he handed Taehyun his bottle, 'I got them because I knew you were coming over."
"Thank you," Taehyun grinned.
"So did you guys decide on what to play?" Kai asked, after passing out the rest of the drinks.
"Truth or Dare," Yeonjun stated.
"Oh spicy," Kai gasped, "When I was younger my friends and I played Extreme Truth or Dare."
"What's that?" Taehyun asked warily.
"It's just like regular Truth or Dare," Kai explained, "but whenever you don't complete your dare, don't answer your truth, or lie about your truth, you recieve punishment. We would always hit eachother with my baseball bat," Kai made awkward eye contact with Soobin, "Umm I mean, hold on." Kai ran back downstairs and returned with a red drink, "If you break any of these rules you have to chug down this spicy pepper drink I just made."
"I can't handle spicy food," Taehyun laughed timidly.
"Same here," Soobin admitted making eye contact with the younger boy.
"Just don't break any rules," Kai laughed, sitting down on the floor and placing the glasss directly in front of him, "Come on let's start." The others agreed and they sat down in a circle. "I'll go first," Kai announced, "Hmmm Beomgyu, truth or dare?"
"Dare," he said confidently.
"Go walk down my street and flirt with everyone you see," Kai smirked, "You aren't allowed to come back nside until you get someone's number."
Beomgyu laughed, "That's easy, you should have saved that one for Yeonjun."
It took a second for Yeonjun to register what Beomgyu said, "Wow, ok. I hope you get an old guy's number."
"Still more than what you could get," Beomgyu laughed.
Yeongun sighed, "This kid, I swear."
The four boys gathered to look out of the window as they watched Beomgyu travel from stranger to stranger in attempt to find a number. The third person he talked to was a young girl and after a few seconds he got slapped. The four boys all laughed at him. The fifth person was a woman much older than him, possibly in her late fourties. They talked for a bit before the woman took a pen out of her purse and wrote something down on Beomgyu's arm. After she left he looked up at the window and raised his fists up in victory before coming back inside.
"Wow congrats. You caught yourself a cougar," Yeonjun teased him.
"Thanks," Beomgyu looked proudly at his arm, "Still more than what you can get." Yeonjun rolled his eyes and Beomgyu sat back down in his spot, "Ok, umm, Soobin! Truth or dare?"
"I'm not scared of you," Soobin stook his tongue out, "so dare!"
Beomgyu grinned, "Go jump in Kai's pool, fully clothed."
"What!" Kai exclaimed.
"Yeah!" Beomgyu smiled.
"Fine," Soobin stood up, "I'm not scared."
"Umm, please don't get my carpet wet,"Kai quickly got up, "I'll grab some towels." After Kai returned they all headed downstairs and to Kai's backyard.
"Soobin! Soobin!" Yeonjun started chanting his name and it wasn't long before the other three boys joined him. Soobin climbed the ladder and hesitated, looking back at his friends.
"Don't be scared," Taehyun tried to encourage him.
"Yeah, you wuss!" Beomgyu teased. Soobin, now fueled by Beomgyu's insult, jumped. The four boys gasped as the heard the loud splash. It wasn't long before Soobin resurfaced and quickly made his way over to them.
"Kai do you s-still have those towels?" Soobin was shivvering, "It's freezing!"
"Yeah," Kai ran to a table he placed them on and threw one over to him.
"Can s-someone get my dry clothes out of my bag please?" he begged.
"I'll get them," Yeonjun ran inside and returned with what Soobin asked for.
"Thank you," Soobin took the clothes from him.
"We're gonna go back inside. After you dry off and get dressed just come meet us back upstairs," Kai instructed. The older nodded and the others left. About five minutes passed before Soobin returned. He was wearing a brown sweater and black pants with the white towel wrapped around his neck.
"You guys ready to continue?" he asked, sitting back down. They all nodded. "Alright," he scanned the group of boys before locking eyes with someone, "Taehyun, truth or dare?"
"Truth," he answered meekly.
Soobin smiled deviously, "What are your true feelings about Beomgyu?"
Taehyun felt his stomach drop, "W-what?"
"You heard me," looked at him. Taehyun could feel himself shaking as he looked between the drink and Soobin. Even if he wanted to drink it, he physically couldn't, plus it would look too suspicious anyways.
"You don't have to answer that Taehyun," Kai said through gritted teeth, eyeing Soobin down.
"Then he has to drink that," Soobin pointed to the drink, "Your rules not mine."
"What's going on?" Beomgyu asked, noticing the thick tension in the room.
"Beomgyu," Taehyun breathed in, "I-I like you. In fact I've liked you for a long time." Taehyun immedately hid his face in his hands. He never wanted to admit his feelings towards the older and now he was embarrassed.
"Taehyun," Beomgyu quietly said causing the younger to look up at him. Beomgyu made eye contact with his now glossy eyes. Beomgyu liked him, but not like that. It was impossible. Well, maybe? Beomgyu was still trying to figure all of it out for himself. He wanted to look away before saying anything else, but he couldn't, and before he could think of a proper response he just spoke, "No."
"I-I know," Taehyun felt like his heart was being torn out. Don't cry. Don't cry. Don't cry. These past few days gave him a little bit of hope, they way he talked to him, the way he acted around him, made him feel like there was a possibility, but Taehyun was stupid. "I know, I'm sorry. I didn't want to tell you," his voice began to crack, "I-I hope this doesn't affect our friendship." He could feel a tear slip down his face, "Sorry, I-I'm going to get some water." Taehyun quickly stood up and ran out of the room.
Kai looked Soobin with disgust, "That's low, even for you," and ran after Taehyun.

The Weather Vane
This is the first few chapter of my new book available on Amazon. The beginning is very light and fun, but more mature content comes later. From medieval fantasy to ultra high-tech to dinosaurs, The Weather Vane is a grippingly fast-paced adventure full of fun and excitement, literary flourish, and colorful characters. A group of ascendant masters find themselves in the afterlife and learn that they are newly recruited into the cosmic battle of good versus evil. Before they can join the fight, shipwreck strikes and they are lost in the ether. Stranded in a magical land beyond the reaches of the universe, The Weather Vane follows our crew of heroes as they try to piece things back together even while The Dark Lord’s forces march, maraud, and murder at every turn. Themes of darkness chase the overall levity of The Weather Vane which suffers not a lull as the climax begins near the beginning of the book and drives on through the greatly satisfying finish. The most epic of epics.
