Quinn sat on her bed staring at the time on her clock. 5:15. Ugh! What will I do with myself until 7:00? She thought to herself. I guess the surprise is for me, I should probably try and make an effort with my appearance.

Quinn walked into her closet and began rummaging through her clothes. Hanger after hanger and there was nothing she was comfortable in anymore. Michael took away the little comfort in her body she had. She wasn't just fat now, she was damaged.

She stopped on this peach spaghetti strap dress. It had a lacy top that cinched just above the waist. The skirt came down right below the knee and it was flowy. Her favorite part were the pockets. She paired it with a faded jean jacket to cover up the marks on her wrists and a pair of white sneakers.

Quinn hopped into the shower, quickly washed her hair and began to get ready. She started with her hair which always took the longest. After applying the products in her hair, defining and diffusing, she started her make-up.

She filled in her brows and then attempted to cover the bags under her eyes with some concealer. She looked at herself disheartened. No luck. So, she moved on. She applied a shimmery brown eyeshadow on her lid, lined it with a brown pencil and finished it off with mascara.

Quinn quickly got dressed and started her walk towards the pack house. Her mother greeted her at the dining room entry and told her to go ahead and sit. Alivia, Ruben, Evan and Christopher were all seated and waiting for her. Dinner was about to be served.

Quinn could smell the rich coffee scent she remembered from all those years ago. He was smiling at her and for just a moment things get right; things felt the way they were supposed to feel. She looked to his right and realized there was a girl that she hadn't met sitting next to her. She looked at her and back at him then looked away as she made her way to her seat next to Alivia.

Christopher smelled the sweet peaches and cinnamon before he even saw Quinn. He looked up and couldn't believe how beautiful she was. Her smile and sparkling blue eyes lit up the room and a fire inside of him. Not realizing he was smiling when she walked over and sat down, he quickly shook himself out of it, looking at the girl he invited to dinner.

Alivia was starring dagger at the pair.

"Quinny, you look amazing!" Squealed Alivia.

"Thanks," Quinn gave a half-hearted smile. "You look beautiful as always Alivia."

"Girl, stop it," said Alivia with a flick of her hand.

"And Luna Sarah, that dress looks absolutely stunning on you. You're truly glowing."

"Thank you, Quinn," said Sarah "that's very kind of you."

Quinn bowed her head and turned back to Alivia, stealing a glance at Christopher who was busy talking to the girl next to him.

"So who's the girl, Chris?" asked Alivia with a sarcastic tone.

"This is Emma," said Christopher glancing awkwardly at Quinn. "She's a warrior of the pack and I invited her to sit with us."

"Hi," said Emma shyly, giving Christopher a flirty smile.

Quinn rolled her eyes, refusing to let it affect her. This was for her and she was going to enjoy it. She knew this would happen sooner or later and she had to get used to it.

Dinner was served at about 7:15. Quinn was smiling from ear to ear. Her mother had made all of her favorites and she was so thrilled to eat it all. She looked around for her mother and when she spotted her at a nearby table, she excused herself and walked over.

Quinn hugged her mother and whispered in her ear. "Thank you mom. This is all just incredible."

"You're welcome sweetie. Now go enjoy your food with your friends. I know they've missed you. Christopher over there wouldn't stop asking me how you were."

Quinn smiled at her mother, the wonderful woman that she was. "I love you mom."

"I love you too. We'll catch up over coffee at home. Now go." Said Ellie patting her lightly on the butt.

Quinn returned to her seat and began to eat. Christopher couldn't help but smile at the way she savored all of the food. When dessert was served her eyes lit up. It made his wolf yip slightly to see his mate so content. But the betrayal hung over him like a storm cloud.

When Quinn was finished, she sat back in her chair and patted her belly. "Wow, that was delicious."

"Your mom is quite the cook, Quinn," said Evan taking his final bite.

"I don't think I'll be able to eat for a week," said Ruben pushing his plate away and making the group laugh.

"What are you doing after," asked Alivia to her friend.

"I think I'm just going to go home and catch up with my mom."

"Why don't you come with us on a run."

"No, uh, not tonight. Maybe some other time." Quinn could feel the anxiety building in the pit of her stomach at the thought of a run with everyone. She was going to hurl. "Excuse me just a moment." Quinn got up and ran to the restrooms.

"I'll be right back," said Christopher quickly following behind her.

Quinn stood in front of the bathroom mirror trying to slow her breathing. She looked at her reflection, not recognizing the panicked girl in front of her. Slowly regaining her composure, she patted some cold water on her face, walked out and started heading back to the dining room.

Someone grabbed her wrist, pulling her into an empty closet. She let out a yelp. The bruising on her wrist was still tender. Sparks ran up her arm and she knew who it was.

"Christopher.. what are you doing?"

"Hello Quinn," he said taking a step towards her.

Quinn didn't move. The mate bond was pulling her to him. Suddenly, he had his arms around her and sparks were flying all over her body, every which way.

"Christopher, I'm.. I'm.. sorry," Quinn sputtered out.

"Sorry for what, mate?" Asked Christopher cupping her cheek with his hand. Quinn leaned into it.

"For betraying me," Christopher continued. "For fucking someone else."

"You came to my welcome home dinner with someone else...you've clearly moved on. Make it easier on us both and reject me already." Quinn pushed at his chest but he grabbed her wrist making her yelp in pain once more. He held her arms out in front of him and noticed the marks.

"Quinn what happened to your wrists?"

"Nothing!" She said snatching them from him. "Just reject me and leave me alone... you've clearly chosen someone worthy." Quinn felt defeated. She pushed past a dumbfounded Christopher and ran straight out the dining hall door.

Christopher stood there with his mouth open, unsure of what had just occurred. He thought he had it under control. He just wanted to mess with her before letting her go. What happened to her wrist? Where did those marks come from? Goddess! How stupid was I thinking making her jealous would work.
