《Magai Story: The First Encounter》College Prep

We reappeared in my apartment, where the window was fixed. I heard the gasps as my friends breathed in the air, after holding our breaths for the trip.

"hA!" I yelled wildly.

"Ah," was all that Sabine said.

"You're kidding," Stacey still just couldn't accept all that was going on.

We all got up and walked to the window.

When I was there, I got to see the city from above for the first time. Which basically meant I could not see anything other than the building in front of mine.

"Well, I mean," I began, "I thought we would have a better skyline view."

I noticed that at a certain angle I could see grid lines in the sliver of sky available to me, so I conjured a Statusin and asked it what the grids were.

"Ha ha!" Grady laughed and jumped at the sight of the technology.

As far as I could tell, everyone was in awe, too.

"What is that?" Stacey pointed.

"The Sky Grid," a Statusin voice began, "was installed into the planet's genetic core in Gregorian year 1980 to seal the hole in the atmosphere after Triumvir Merlin Talanjanix' century-old plug enchantment deteriorated. The Sky Grid not only plugs the hole but also provides global access to Statusin technology and provides the infrastructure necessary for the generation of holograms with mass for the usage in X Fliers and other such technology."

"That was informative," Marco said sarcastically.

Grady ignored him, "So where do we go now?"

"We get a taxi to take us to whatever school necessary, but not right now," I say, "right now we need to get Marco in flight," I grinned.

The window opened on cue, and in one swift motion we all pushed Marco out the window. I heard him scream, but he opened his wings and tore through his shirt, leaving him gliding. I jumped after him, using my telekinesis to fly.

He refused to flap his wings.

In frustration I called out, "Flap your wings, dumbass! Bring them backwards then forwards!"

He refused to be taught, so he aimed a flamethrower attack at me. It missed me completely. I decided to save him from humiliation and float us both back to the apartment. I accelerated and grabbed him from behind, then I floated us back to the apartment.

"Now we can go learn," I tell Grady.

"Okay? How?" Sabine asked.

"I'm going to call Uma. You know, the lady who was my nurse. Hopefully she's not busy,"

I dialed her up on a Statusin videochat.

"Hi, Uma!" I said with a smile.

"How have you been?" she exclaimed, "I wasn't able to contact you so I figured you had gone back to Earth."

I guess she doesn't know I was attacked, I thought.

"Well, an bird girl knocked me out of the window, so I went back to Earth, like, half an hour after I registered for citizenship," I said.

"And who is this girl?" she asked looking at Grady.

"I brought her back from Earth... as well as several others," I said wincing. I guess I could get in trouble.

My crew came into the shot to wave and say hello to her.

Her face had a confused look on it, "What do you mean you brought them here?"

"I kinda forced them to see past the Oblivion Effect," I explained.

"This is all very irregular," Uma drank something steaming out of a mug. Her round face made an expression of worry that didn't fit her.

"And also, I mean..." I didn't know how to phrase it.

"We kinda got superpowers," Grady stepped in, "Well, we're still waiting on Jozeey, but he's probably just not figured them out yet."

"We must enroll all of you in the University of Montressor," she looked distracted now. She obviously was handling a lot all at once.

"And is this something where we can go home on the weekends?" I ask.

"We're still in high school, miss!" Sabine shouted.

"I do not have a full comprehension of your social constructs," Uma furrowed her brows, "But at this rate you'll only be able to go home if Carlos somehow takes you. Are you also suggesting you are too young?"

"Yeah, we're still in high school," Sabine explained, "It's the highest level of education that you actually have to go to."

"But it's not career or ability oriented. It's all the same for everyone," Dania added.

"I understand now. You should be fine. The main purpose of UM is ability training,"

"Wait, so we won't be able to see our parents?!" Stacey exclaimed.

"I don't think so," she answered simply, "There's no connection to Earth."

Stacey had a look of defeat on her face.

"When do we start?" I asked.

"Go right now, if you want," Uma smiled weakly, "It'll be fun."
