《butterfly; tsukishima kei》14

walking beside you was like walking forever. i don't mind the quietness that we developed together, somehow we both got lost and we find comfort in each other's presence. at this point, i don't mind if i won't be able to get my feelings accepted, if that means i get to spend more time with you.

and as i watched you walk further away, each step creating more distance between us. each step making you a bit more higher. but i've reached you enough, haven't i?

"tsukishima," my voice was shaking, but even so, i kept a smile on my face, "take care."

those same words that we always speak to each other at the train station and after that, we both part our ways. unknown to when we'll be able to see each other like this again.

"you too."

and with one last step, he stood higher than me.

i forced my body to turn around, my eyes to leave his figure and for my feet to move away. if i stayed more, i'm afraid i'll reach for him even more.

"(l/n)." his voice echoed, the same lazy tone lingering in his voice and i turned my head to look at him.

blank, "whoever that boy is, i'm sure he'll accept your love soon." he said bluntly, but each words had warmth in it and i saw how a small smile form on his face before he walked away.

if only you knew that boy is you, i'm sure you wouldn't say the same thing right now.

i hummed a happy tune as i walked on a path towards the school. it was an odd and strange action, considering that i rarely do this, especially on days like this. but for some reason, every image of him that popped up inside my mind made me paint a smile on my face.

it gave a mixture of colors to my surroundings, a scenery that i haven't seen before. an art with meaning and feelings. an art with me and you in it, in a form of love we never expected to feel.

"oh... (l/n)." kenma mumbled in surprise, eyes widening a bit at my actions.

i rose a brow at him and hummed a tune again. i noticed that he stared at me after that, i just don't know if he's judging me or what. a minute have passed and he shoved his phone back in his pocket, continuing walking beside me.

i gasped and my eyes widened at his actions too. kenma would always play games while on his way to school, he said it was his way of having energy and to encourage him.

"kenma!" i gasped and he let a small smile form on his face.

"you're smiling." he said and i nodded as a response.

"yeah and you're not playing."

he just shrugged and gripped on the straps of his bag, "i want to spend more time with you when you're happy."

although it came out in a quiet tone, my ears are still able to catch those warm words. it made me have a reason to smile even more, but before i can even reply, a weight on both of our shoulders suddenly appeared.

"yo, my stray cats!" kuroo grinned and dragged us, the smile on kenma's face faded away.

"kuroo, you're heavy." he mumbled, but kuroo just patted his head and the three of us continued walking away.

"(l/n), i'm glad you're looking happy today." kuroo said while ruffling my hair and i groaned at his actions.

"care to tell us why?" and with a teasing smirk plastered on his face, i knew exactly what's going on in his mind.

and i'm not going to deny it.

"well, there was this boy i met in the flower shop."

"tsukki!"

a loud, enthusiastic voice echoed in the hallway as a wild freckled boy ran towards the tall beanpole. he stopped in front of him and started panting, trying to catch his breath.

tsukishima just stared at him, putting his headphones down and letting it hang around his neck.

"tsukki..." he said while out of breath, "you visited her, right? what happened?"

"like i said, we ended it." tsukishima answered bluntly.

"that was a week ago! you went out last weekend again." yamaguchi lifted his head up to meet his blank and uninterested face staring back at him.

"well, i was bored again." he looked away and the freckled boy sighed as he straightened his posture.

"did you really end it?" yamaguchi asked in a sad tone, his eyes glued to the ground.

the tall figure looming over him like a tower, "yes."

yamaguchi released another disappointed sigh and tsukishima rose a brow at his actions, "what's with your expression? it's not like we were in a relationship anyways."

this caused yamaguchi to sigh and whine even more, "you're not interested in girls again!"

to tsukishima, that part wasn't really true.

"i don't rush things, yamaguchi. i'm not like those two idiots." he clicked his tongue and glared at the two boys who are having a race in the hallway once again.

their loud shouts drained his energy even more and yamaguchi was startled as usual.

"don't worry, tsukki." yamaguchi patted his back, "you'll find the right one soon."

tsukishima stopped on his track, causing his friend to look at him in confusion, "well..." he trailed off.

and yamaguchi was stunned again to see a smile, a genuine one, forming on his friend's face.

"there was this girl i met in the train station."
