We were sat in the lounge, I was sat back with the Xbox remote in my hand carelessly killing bastards that got in the way.
"Mind if I join?"
I turned to look at Chris, he had a sly smirk slapped on his face. I shrugged and gestured towards the other remote that was by the television. I was tired and not ready to argue.
He sat himself down next to me as soon he'd grabbed his remote. I restarted the game of Call Of Duty 4 and turned the multiplayer on. We sat in silence as we played against each other.
"Face it Chris, you've lost, we've played ten games and you've won two." I said.
"Don't say that, I like playing with you, can't we continue?" Chris frowned.
"No," I sighed and got up to turn the TV back onto the satellite. I felt his hands on my hips as he turned me to face him.
"Why ya so stubborn for? Huh? I promise I'll be good to you," Chris leant down and brushed his lips against my collar bone. "I swear I'm loyal, give me a chance."
"No, Chris, I can't." I grabbed his wrists. "Please just stop."
Chris was handsome alright, he was hella fine. He wasn't as big as Jayceon, his skin was slightly lighter and his hair was dyed blonde and short. He had numerous tattoos that scattered all over him that I'd seen various times. His eyes were like angels, they were stunningly beautiful. If it wasn't for his cocky attitude I'd definitely tap that, but I was here to play Jayceon not Chris.
"Girl I know ya want me." Chris took several steps forward, backing me against the wall. "You're just bein' stubborn. Ain't ya?"

"Chris." I tried to keep my voice steady, inside I was trembling. I knew that if I fucked up with Jayceon he wouldn't be afraid to lay his hands on me.
"Just trust me baby girl." Chris whispered and kissed my neck, his lips were soft and warm against my skin. His hands loosened my wrists and his hands trailed down my body. His touch sent shocks through me. I came to my senses seconds later.
I shook violently and pushed him away, "Stop!"
"What's all the fuss about?"
Both Chris and I turned to look at Jayceon. He was stood in the doorway with his bulging arms crossed and a stern look written on his features.
"Jay." I took a step forward.
"Get ya ass upstairs, I need a word."

Journeys in the Fairworld: The Gatekeeper
Lindsey Fluger was only slightly past eighteen. There was nothing particularly special about her, save that she happened to be the right person at the right time. When Lindsey is asked to join an expedition to another world she makes the mistake of saying yes, plunging herself into a sea of perilous adventure and dark intrigue. Journeys in the Fairworld is a fantasy anthology series set in The Fairworld, a magical realm existing in parallel with our own world which is governed by a group elfin beings known only as “The Good Folk”. These mysterious entities work in secret to keep the peace between the myriad of peoples and nations which dwell in The Fairworld. Complex relationships and bitter rivalries emerge against a backdrop of constrained resources and conflicting values to produce a world of high adventure and tangled mysteries. This novel is technically already completed, and I am currently in the final stages of proofing or editing. As such, there may be a few typos and errors here and there. The final version should be about 130,000 words long, which I will be releasing in stages as I continue editing. I'd love to hear your feedback and comments! If you want to read more stories from Journeys in the Fairworld, please checkout “Journeys in the Fairworld: The Brigand of Potham”, which is also available here on Royal Road Legends. https://www.royalroadl.com/fiction/19369/journeys-in-the-fairworld-the-brigand-of-potham

Corinth
This is the story of an expanding empire, not understanding its reach, unfulfilled by its goals, and misled by its gods. It follows a group of travellers as they try to expand the empire, and probe the edges of its control. It is set in a world in which power is directly connected to origins, ancestry, and the gods of a culture. It examines the effects of conflict on a people when they can’t be disconnected from their surroundings, and thus true mobility is not possible. The first book will be focusing on a group trying to explore and settle the lands east of their empire. Deciding that a new push is needed, groups are being funded to take and farm the near-empty land, and this group of four is heading out ahead of many of the settlers. The four - Sojo, Mirrel, Eyn, and Brehen - hope to find and chart something of importance in a vast, nearly unexplored landscape, and bring the knowledge back to make their fortune.
