《Nick Wilde X Reader | A New Partner》Safety First

You turned back around and propped yourself over the console once again. Not too far ahead lay the massive gateway out of TundraTown. Beyond that lay a sea of sand with waves of canyons.

"How will we lose them in Sahara?"

"Those limousines aren't made for sand—they'll never make it through the dunes."

The car flew out of icy TundaTown and into Sahara Square. The scenery changed so quickly. No longer were we all surrounded by blues and whites, rather, everything was coated with earth tones.

The road was different too. The car went from sliding a little on the frigid road to grinding on sand that seemed to permeate everything.

You watched as Jade swerved to make her way down a less used street. The road quickly became much more rough.

While slowly sinking back into your seat you started wondering what Jade's plan was. You were jolted from your thoughts, however, as a warm mass moved over you. Your heart rate jumps as Nick reaches around you.

A swipe, a click, and a grin from Wilde as he put your seatbelt on you.

"Safety first." He winked.

This guy. Flirting with you. In a car chase. Unbelievable.

You can play that game too.

"Your turn."

You reached over and basically laid yourself on him as you purposefully fumbled for his seatbelt.

"Whoops! Almost got it..."

You pulled the belt across him and grazed your muzzle against his. He had wide eyes with fire burning in his iris's. He obviously didn't expect any retaliation on your part.

"Got it," you winked.

Positioned back into your seat, you were pleased with yourself.

Your eyes trailed back towards Nick. He was blushing and quickly held a paw up to your face in an attempt to block you from seeing.

Smacking his hand away playfully, you got a glimpse of a small snicker and his cute little fangs revealed themselves.

The fun was over quickly, however, as the SUV began off-roading and the seatbelts turned out to be a really good idea.

Nick and you returned to your post of gazing out the rearview window. Trying to keep your balance as the car moved up and down, you both watched as the limos took a similar off-road path.

However, they did not last very long. The dunes were too close together and surely enough both of the cars became stuck and they quickly faded away in the distance.

Wilde laughed and turned to the front, "That was pretty easy!"

Jade matched his emerald eyes with her own as she glared at him without saying anything.

You felt the tension, but it rolled off of Nick like it was nothing.
