《My Wife》Chapter 14

"Kyoya! Explain this!" Tamaki yelled in complete shock.
"When the hell did you two get married?!" Hikaru yelled.
"We knew something was up but to think that you two were married?!" Kaoru said, his mouth hanging in shock.
"Did you not hear? We're just fiancees right now," Kyoya said.
"We know your father well enough to know that you two are going to get married sooner or later," Tamaki said, shaking his head.
"Now, now, Tama-chan. Hika-chan. Kao-chan," Honey said. "We should be congratulating them instead of bombarding them with questions."
"Congratulations, Kyoya. Haruhi," Mori smiled at them.
Haruhi smiled. "Thank you, Mori-senpai. You're the first to genuinely congratulate us."
Mori came over and stroked her head to which Haruhi responded favorably. Seeing the smile on Haruhi's face, Tamaki, Hikaru, and Kaoru composed themselves. Compared to Mori, they were acting unreasonably childish and demanding to their friends.
"Congratulations, Haru-chan!" Honey ran up to her with an excited expression. "Next time when we come to visit you, I'll bring you guys your engagement present."
"Thank you, Honey-senpai," Haruhi smiled. "But you don't have to do that."
"No buts," Honey grinned. "We'll bring you lots and lots of presents!"
Haruhi laughed. She just hoped that whatever the present will be, it won't be cake. Though she knew that at least one of the presents he was going to bring was cake.
"Anyway, about this engagement," Hikaru said, bringing everyone back to the main question. "How did it even happen?"
Haruhi and Kyoya looked towards one another. Gripping her dress, she nodded at Kyoya with a new look of determination and clarity in her eyes. She was ready to tell them. She was going to tell them everything.
"Remember that day when I was called to the office?" Haruhi asked.
They all nodded their heads.
"That day, my father got into a serious accident," Haruhi said. "He safely made it through the surgery but it was a major surgery for almost his entire body had to be repaired. During the accident, his legs got paralyzed."
The Host Club members listened in shock as Kyoya stood solemnly to the side.
"You know how we're poor and we can't afford much. So, the surgery was going to take a big toll on us money-wise," Haruhi said. "But it was at that time that Kyoya-senpai came up to me and offered me a marriage contract. He said that if I marry him, then he would be willing to pay for my dad's hospital bills as well as the bills for physical therapy."
"So you accepted it?" Hikaru asked.
Haruhi nodded her head. "At that time, I didn't really care about what I was agreeing to but rather that my father would be helped," Haruhi admitted. "And I'm sure that the marriage contract was proposed by father-in-law. Right, Kyoya?"
Kyoya nodded his head, unsurprised that she had figured it out.
"Father wanted me to marry her because it provided him many benefits and so I reluctantly agreed," Kyoya continued on. "With the marriage contract set in place, we started living together and have been keeping it a secret from you guys. That is, until today."
"So, this marriage is nothing but a farce?" Hikaru said, gritting his teeth as he balled his fists.
"Hikaru, you're wro-!"
Hikaru rushed over to Kyoya and grabbed him by the collar, his angry face inches away from Kyoya's. "Kyoya-senpai! What the hell did you make Haruhi do?!"

"Hikaru!" Kaoru tried pulling him back but he wouldn't budge.
"Have you ever thought about Haruhi's feelings in this?! Using money and forcing her to marry you! I never thought you were despicable to this extent!" Hikaru yelled.
Kyoya stared at him. He wasn't amused at all and somehow, his words about him using money to force Haruhi made him angry. Kyoya gripped Hikaru's hand and shook it off his collar, causing Hikaru to fall back. Kyoya straightened his suit and glared at him.
"Don't act like you know everything," Kyoya said.
"Hah?!" Hikaru yelled, balling his fists. "Don't give me that look!"
Hikaru stepped up and swung his fist, much to the surprise of everyone. Haruhi widened her eyes in shock.
"Hikaru, don't!" Haruhi yelled, stepping in between the two.
It was too late. Hikaru's punch went straight to Haruhi's face and the impact resounded in the resting area. The butler came in and watched in shock at seeing Haruhi down on the floor, her left cheek bruised with a bright red color. Hikaru stepped back in complete surprise as Kyoya instantly went down to Haruhi, holding her by the shoulders.
"Get some ice!" he ordered the butler.
"Y-Yes!" the butler replied, scurrying out the resting area and running to get ice packs and a medical box.
"Hikaru, you went too far!" Tamaki yelled.
"Haruhi..." Hikaru said, gritting his teeth. "Sorry..."
"Haru-chan, are you okay?" Honey bent down and looked at the bruise; he didn't dare touch Haruhi out of fear of hurting her. "It looks terrible."
"I'm fine," Haruhi barely muttered, her left cheek stinging with pain.
"Hikaru, calm down," Mori said, putting a hand on his shoulder.
"Why did you have to step in?! Haruhi?!" Hikaru yelled.
Tamaki and Kaoru looked towards Hikaru, who was trembling in shock. Blood could be seen trickling out from Haruhi's mouth and her eyebrows were furrowed in pain. Kyoya touched her left cheek tenderly but even at that gesture, Haruhi flinched in pain. Kyoya looked at Hikaru with rageful eyes.
"You went too far," he glared.
"Kyoya, you should calm down, too," Tamaki held him back.
"Let go, you stupid ass idiot," Kyoya glared at Tamaki.
Tamaki had an irksome look on his face but continued to hold Kyoya back. "As much as I'd like to hit you for what you just said, you should calm down. I'm sure that's what Haruhi wants you guys to do, too."
Kyoya and Hikaru glanced over to Haruhi who was still on the ground, holding her cheek ever so gently. But the resolute look in her eyes commanding them to stop calmed them down. They relaxed their muscles and Kyoya returned to Haruhi's side, helping her up. Hikaru looked away with a slight blush on his cheek, embarrassed of how he was acting.
"Hikaru, it's true that this marriage is a farce," Haruhi said, trying her best to speak correctly. "But that was only at the beginning. Right now, my feelings have changed and it's because of that, I can say for sure what I want this time."
Haruhi turned to Kyoya and looked him in the eye.
"Kyoya-senpai," she said and smiled. "I like you."
Kyoya widened his eyes in surprise.
"Not as a person who intends to repay your kindness. Not as a junior. Not as a friend. But as a woman," she continued. "I want to be by your side. From now on and always. Will you grant me that wish?"

The scenery around her brightened up and a tiny wind blew in from the outside. Kyoya looked at her in complete surprise and all of a sudden, he had a sudden urge to cry. He held back his tears and smiled softly at her.
"I would be glad to," Kyoya replied with a blissful expression, taking her hand.
The Host Club members watched with a satisfactory look, glad that this whole conflict had been resolved. Hikaru looked down, not wanting to watch any longer. However, just as he decided to leave the room, Haruhi walked up to him.
"Hikaru," she held his hand gently. "Thank you."
A conflicted look washed across his expression. "Why are you thanking me?"
"Because you were the one who sincerely worried about me everytime I was in trouble," Haruhi smiled, though her bruised cheek was refraining her from doing so. "So thank you for worrying about me and also for being my best friend."
Hikaru's lips pulled into a tight line as a blush formed on his face. Tears started spilling down from his eyes and onto Haruhi's hand. Haruhi smiled and laughed as Hikaru wiped away his endless tears with his sleeve. The butler arrived with a frantic look on his face, carrying a tray of ice and a pile of ice packs. He looked around at everyone who was relaxed as if nothing had happened. The only evidence of the fight was the bruise on Haruhi's cheek.
"Sorry for punching you just now," Hikaru apologized.
Haruhi laughed but stopped halfway. Even laughing hurt like hell for her. "It was my fault for stepping in suddenly like that," she said.
"It doesn't hurt does it?" Kyoya said, bending down on one knee and holding the ice pack to her face.
"It doesn't," Haruhi replied as she sat on the couch, her face leaned towards Kyoya's.
Kyoya furrowed his eyebrows at the now swollen bruise that left a heavy mark on Haruhi's fair cheek. Even now he wanted to punch Hikaru for what he did but he knew that if he did, Haruhi would get angry for him. Someway or another, he was going to get his revenge; even if it was just a tiny bit. Maybe I should get a handful of pigeons to land their feces on him, he thought with an evil smile.
"Kyoya-senpai, stop with that smile. It's freaking everyone out," Haruhi commented.
"Kyoya's probably planning something terrible," Tamaki shivered and hid behind Mori.
"Seems like it," Honey chuckled.
"I have no idea what you guys are talking about," Kyoya said, shifting his glasses. "If anything, I think you guys owe me and Haruhi an apology for causing so much ruckus."
"We're sorry," they bowed.
"It's fine," Haruhi smiled before quickly adding a side comment. "It's you guys we're talking about after all."
"That's so mean of you!" Hikaru and Kaoru yelled.
Haruhi gave a light chuckle and she knew that everyone was aware of their own personalities. Their laughter came to an end when Tamaki cleared his throat and stepped in front of Kyoya and Haruhi with a rather serious expression for once. It was rare for him to be serious and everyone stared at him.
"Haruhi. Are you sure that this is what you want?" Tamaki asked.
Kyoya glared at him. "Tamaki. What are you saying?"
"I'm asking Haruhi. Kyoya, be quiet for a second," Tamaki said.
A tick mark appeared on Kyoya's face but he remained silent. Though he muttered under his breath, calling Tamaki a silly character of a prince.
"I heard that, Kyoya!" Tamaki yelled, fuming. "Anyway, Haruhi. Answer my question. By marrying Kyoya and choosing to be by his side, are you sure you won't regret anything?"
Haruhi looked at him head-on and nodded her head. "I don't regret anything."
The two stared at one another for what they thought was at least two whole minutes before Tamaki broke into a smile. He combed back his hair and bent down on his knee, holding Haruhi's hand and smiling softly at her before planting a kiss on her hand.
"Then I sincerely congratulate you," Tamaki said and whispered into her ear. "From now on, take care of Kyoya. On the behalf of the Host Club."
Haruhi widened her eyes at his statement and nodded her head.
"Tamaki," Kyoya spoke up.
"What is i-?!" Tamaki flinched as he saw the raging fire behind Kyoya.
Tamaki instantly started sweating bullets as Kyoya chased him around the resting area, demanding to know what he had whispered into Haruhi's ear. Tamaki refused to and knowing that there was no way out, he decided to reveal one of the reasons why his father had sent him to the party.
"The Suoh Conglomerate will give three percent of its stocks to the Ootori Group!" Tamaki yelled.
Kyoya stopped in his tracks, allowing Tamaki to have a quick escape. When it came to business, Kyoya was always ready to get down to it even if his feelings were the complete opposite of what shone on his face. He gave a brilliant smile towards Tamaki.
"The Ootori Group will gladly accept your offer."
Everyone sweat-dropped and didn't even want to look at the radiant Kyoya standing in front of them. He was a fake. That smile of his only scared them even more for they knew how crude he could be when it came to business. Haruhi smiled silently to herself as she watched the Host Club laugh and fool around just like how they always did. She really did like the Host Club - even when they were extremely annoying.
"Haru-chan, you look like you're having fun," Honey came up to her.
"Do I?" Haruhi asked.
"Yup!" he answered.
Haruhi smiled and looked back to Kyoya and the others. "I guess I am."
"You need to apply that ointment, right?" Honey said, picking up the medicinal ointment that the butler had left by her side.
"Yeah. I was thinking about doing it right now before it gets even more swollen," Haruhi said, picking up the ointment.
"Then I'll help you," Mori stepped her way, towering over her.
"Huh? It's fine, Mori-senpai. I can do it myself," Haruhi said, waving her hands frantically in front of her. "I don't want to trouble you. Besides, you're a guest right now."
"You don't have a mirror right now so it's better if you let someone else do it," Honey pouted, agreeing that Mori should be helping her. "Here, let Takashi help you. No buts."
Haruhi sighed and complied with his wishes, much to the little senior's pleasure. Haruhi faced her cheek towards Mori as he sat down on the couch and began applying the ointment onto her face. His fingers were rough but gentle on her skin and she somehow liked it. Since Mori was more of a martial arts person, she didn't expect for him to be so tender and gentle. But thinking about it, he took great care of animals and moreover, he always seemed to be there when she needed help.
"Kyoya, you're not going to do anything about that?" Tamaki pointed to Mori and Haruhi in which the latter had a rather content face.
Kyoya glanced their way with a nonchalant look. "It's Mori-senpai. Why should I?"
"Just because it's Mori-senpai?" Tamaki said with an unpleasant face.
"Yeah."
"This is discrimination!" Tamaki declared. "In what way am I different from Mori-senpai?!"
"In every way," everyone replied.
Tamaki was stabbed six times as he started to turn to stone and crumble away. He knew that they found him annoying but he thought that their bonds as friends and of trust were greater than that. He cried pitifully and silently in the corner as the twins poked at him for fun and Kyoya stood to the side, sighing at the idiot lord.
"There. Done," Mori smiled, pasting the gauze bandage on her face.
"Thank you, Mori-senpai," Haruhi smiled.
"Hikaru punched you pretty hard so you should keep on applying the ointment to it," Mori continued.
"I understand."
The two smiled at one another, a fluffy pink atmosphere growing around the two. Though Tamaki and Hikaru seemed to mind it, Kyoya didn't mind it at all. In his eyes, Mori wasn't much of a threat and he trusted him. He knew that he could rest with no worries if it was Mori by her side; the same went for Honey, too. They were the two he placed the most trust in when it came to Haruhi's protection and safety as well as when it came to his own problems.
"Haru-chan, does it still hurt?" Honey asked.
"It doesn't hurt as much as before," Haruhi said with a nervous chuckle.
Hikaru was hit with a pang of guilt as he saw a tinge of the now purple bruise on her cheek. "I'm sorry, Haruhi..."
Haruhi smiled. "Don't worry, Hikaru. If I was you, I would probably behave in the same way if that happened to a dear friend of mine."
"But..." Hikaru objected, furrowing his eyebrows. "It must've really hurt."
"Well said," Kyoya spoke up, his voice filled with anger. "If it had been me that got hit, I wouldn't mind but using that much of a force to hit Haruhi's face...you didn't think that you would go unpunished right?"
"Hey, Kyoya," Tamaki interfered.
"Kyoya, let's just drop it already," Haruhi said. "It's just a punch."
"A punch that wounded your face to such an extent," Kyoya clarified for her.
Haruhi sighed and looked to the furious yet sorrowful Hikaru who was standing to the side, not knowing what to do.
"Hikaru, seriously, don't mind it," Haruhi said. "It's no one's fault and if it should be anyone's fault, it would be mine. I was the one who started everything by accepting Kyoya's deal and no one will argue with me on this."
Those who wanted to argue shut their mouths up at Haruhi's stubborn stance.
"Now can we just drop this?" Haruhi asked. "You guys are being one, exasperating, and two, overly dramatic about this whole situation. A punch is a punch and it'll go away sooner or later. So please don't go arguing back and forth now."
Kyoya and Hikaru glanced at each other and Haruhi watched them. The two sighed and nodded their heads reluctantly, deciding to drop this whole thing. Haruhi was Kyoya's wife and it was clear that she didn't regret her decision. In fact, she actually looked much more contented than any other time they've been with her. Reality couldn't be changed and in the end, everything was exposed and settled. It was for the best to not create another bothersome fight after all the events this evening.
"It looks pretty bad though," Honey spoke up. "It's better if you take her to the hospital to check it out, Kyo-chan."
"Ah. It's pretty bruised up," Mori agreed.
Kyoya nodded his head in understanding as he took Haruhi's face gently in his hand and turned her bruised cheek his way. "I was thinking about whether or not I should get one of our private doctors to visit but seeing this," Kyoya narrowed his eyebrows as if he felt the pain. "Haruhi, I'll call the family doctor to come and check it out."
"Is it really that bad that we need to call a doctor?" Haruhi asked.
"Yes!" they all yelled, startling Haruhi.
"Fine," Haruhi sighed.
Honey watched them all with a smile on his face, glad that everything seemed to be over. It was then that a sudden thought popped into his mind and he had to ask them. After all, it concerned Haruhi as well as the Host Club.
