《My Wife》Chapter 13

"He seems obedient but he's wagging his tail in front of his master to gain favor," a man said. "He's basically no different from a dog.
That was it. Haruhi turned around and went over to a waiter and grabbed a glass of champagne. The butler knew what she was planning to do but was glad that she was doing it. He, too, had wanted to punch them but he was not in the position to do so. Haruhi walked to them, each stride powerful and dignified before she stopped before them. She splashed the glass of champagne onto them, earning yells and curses from the group of men.
"What the hell did you just do?!" the man yelled.
"Do you know how expensive this suit is?" another screamed.
By now, a huge commotion was starting and Yoshio had seen everything happen. If anything, he was quite pleased with Haruhi's actions. Somewhere in his heart, he knew that she was going to do it but he didn't expect her to be so direct and open about it. He grinned from ear to ear and wanted to laugh at the group of businessmen.
"Take back what you said," Haruhi muttered.
"What did you say, you bitch?" one of them yelled at her.
"Take back what you said this instant!" Haruhi yelled at her, her eyes aglow with anger.
Seeing her eyes, the men stepped back a bit in fear. Not once had they seen such willful and angry eyes that burned with such passion. Haruhi's large brown eyes stared directly at them, her lips in a tight scowl.
"You don't know anything!" she yelled again. "Kyoya-senpai is one of the most hard-working and diligent people out there! He can be kind of mean sometimes but deep down, he's caring and kind to almost anyone!"
"Haruhi?!" Tamaki and Hikaru exclaimed.
"Kyoya-senpai has the same chance as each of his brothers. He's not a dog nor is he wagging his tail. He's a man that tries his utmost hardest for what he wants to do! Not for what he thinks it's his duty to do!" Haruhi yelled. "Take those words back this instant! You don't have the right to degrade Kyoya-senpai to such a level!"
Kyoya had been watching the whole scene unfold along with almost every one of the guests. Hearing her words, Kyoya smiled. He combed back his hair and sighed with a grin. He didn't care about the crowd she had attracted but rather, how beautiful she looked at that moment. He made his way up to her.
"Hah? We're allowed to say whatever we want!" the man yelled.
"Who do you think you are?!" another yelled. "Do you have any idea who we are?!"
"I don't and I don't care," Haruhi spatted back at him, not giving a damn about his social status.
Yoshio laughed a little at this, including Yuuichi and Fuyumi. Never had they seen a high school girl standing up to adults in such a manner. This was a nice amusement to them and smiled. Their eyes were filled with evil intent as a smirk was drawn onto their faces. To dare call Haruhi a "bitch" of all things, they must really want to anger the Ootori Group. They pitied them for their cluelessness of who they had just angered.
"You bitch!" the man raised his hand at her.
Haruhi stared him down, not minding if she was punched. Just as the butler was about to stop the blow, Kyoya swiftly stepped in and caught the man's hand. Haruhi waited for the impact but instead, felt a gentle and firm arm wrap around her waist. She opened her eyes and widened her eyes in surprise to see Kyoya.

"K-Kyoya-sama," the man immediately let go.
Kyoya wasn't the slightest bit happy. He didn't mind that they had talked bad about him but to think that the group of men had called Haruhi a "bitch" and even worse, tried to strike a blow on her...he was angry. No, he was furious. His eyes showed anger and he stared at them with distaste as if they were trash.
"Who do you think you are?" Kyoya spat their words back at them.
"But, that bitch just-!"
"This girl is my wife, mind you" Kyoya cut him off. "Now then, I would really like to hear what you just called my wife again."
They immediately paled as they started sweating bullets. They were trembling in fear and were already thinking of ways to get out of this situation but they knew there was no escape. They had just angered the infamous Ootori Kyoya by insulting his wife of all people. Things were going to get messy. However, that was only the beginning. Ootori Yuuichi and Ootori Shindo Fuyumi soon stepped in.
"It seems like you guys really want to anger the Ootori Group," Yuuichi stared down at them. "Not only are you openly insulting a son of the Ootori family but also a lady from the Ootori family."
"You must really want to face our wrath," Fuyumi smiled but her eyes were filled with loathing and hostility.
"N-No! We didn't mean it that way!" one of them spoke up.
"Then what other way do you mean?" Yoshio stepped in, his eyes dark.
At seeing the Ootori Group's patriarch, their faces paled to a white hue. This was the end. By just coming into contact with Haruhi and insulting her, they brought upon themselves something that can't be turned back.
"Take them out," Yoshio said. "I will personally see to the end of their business."
"O-Ootori-sama! Please, wait! At least reconsider!" one of the men tugged on his pants.
Yoshio looked at him in distaste and kicked him off. "There will be no reconsideration of this matter. I've decided and I won't be taking my decision back."
Desperately trying to think of a way out as the security team began dragging them, the men noticed Haruhi standing next to Kyoya and began scurrying towards her. They were on their knees and bowing down to her.
"Please forgive our rudeness!" they begged. "Just this time! Please overlook it! I beg you!"
"Who gave you the right to speak to Haruhi-chan?" Fuyumi said with a sadistic look in her eyes as she bent down to the man. "Rather than doing a dogeza, you should strip off your clothes and bark three times and twirl around three times before stooping low to lick their shoes. Now that's the proper way to apologize, is it not?"
"Fuyumi-neesama," Kyoya sighed.
"That's disgusting," Haruhi said, recoiling at the fact of someone licking her shoes.
"Maybe I went a bit too far," she stuck out her tongue in apology.
"That might actually be a good idea," Yuuichi thought about it and even Yoshio seemed interested in it.
Wow, the Ootori blood must be thick in those three's veins, Haruhi thought as a sweat-drop appeared.
"Drag him out. Don't make me repeat twice," Yoshio ordered, turning back to the group of men who were bawling their eyes out.
"Yes, sir!" the security team saluted and began dragging them away.

"W-Wait! Please! Spare us, Ootori-sama!" they yelled.
Haruhi pitied them but at the same time, who told them to bad mouth Kyoya. Having their business destroyed might a tad too far but she couldn't do anything about it. Yoshio made his choice and that was the end of the discussion. Haruhi looked down, their voices getting fainter and fainter as they were dragged further away.
"Are you okay?" Kyoya looked down at her, his arm wrapped firmly around her waist.
Haruhi nodded. "Yeah. I'm fine."
He smiled. "Good."
The crowd around them began murmuring amongst one another, wondering who in the world the girl was. Kyoya had said that she was his wife and Yuuichi even stated that she was a lady from the Ootori Group. The Host Club was left dumb-founded; even the seniors were at a loss for words. They knew that Kyoya and Haruhi were in a relationship but they never expected their relationship to be a marriage.
"Haruhi?" Tamaki uttered. "Is this real?"
The relationship came to them as a shock but what surprised them the most was Haruhi's appearance. Her long silky brown hair was curled at the bottom and she was wearing a ballgown that suited her body well. Her face was aglow with light and her large brown eyes shone brightly. Haruhi refused to face them and shifted her face away.
"It's Haru-chan!" Honey exclaimed.
"She's beautiful," Mori muttered, his gaze fixated on her.
Her long eyelashes, pale complexion, and the way the lights shone down on her, it was as if she was a being from a whole another world from them. Her long brown hair fell down to her sides and the dress shimmered with each step she took. Her steps were light and airy as if she had been walking in heels ever since she was born.
"I think it's about time we announced it," Yoshio grinned.
Kyoya nodded and let go of Haruhi. Haruhi turned to him, panic racing across her eyes but he gave her a reassuring squeeze in the hand. Haruhi breathed a sigh of relief. He wasn't leaving her alone but rather, he was just changing positions so that he could hold her hand. They were now hand in hand and Kyoya led the way, following his father. Haruhi picked up her dress and continued looking down. It was the first time the guests had seen the girl and after taking a good look, their breaths stopped. She was absolutely breath-taking. They've never seen such elegance before nor had they seen such beauty. If they had to use a word to describe her, it would be "captivating".
The three of them arrived at the top of the main staircase which looked over the entirety of the ballroom.
"Everyone!" Yoshio announced. "Thank you for coming to the Ootori Group's congratulatory party this evening. We have finally united the West and East branches and this is the main reason for our celebration."
Everyone smiled and clapped before stopping to allow Yoshio to continue.
"However, there is one more reason why we have gathered you here today," Yoshio smiled and stepped to the side, drawing attention to Kyoya and Haruhi. "I'm happy to announce that my youngest son, Ootori Kyoya, has finally gotten engaged."
Haruhi bowed lightly before standing up, overlooking the crowd with a blank and nonchalant face. Her anxiety had frozen her face which she was glad for.
"Allow me to introduce to you Fujioka Haruhi, the future wife of Ootori Kyoya," Yoshio smiled.
Everyone clapped except for Tamaki and Hikaru who were frozen to the ground like stone statues. Honey, Mori, and Kaoru were genuinely happy for the two of them and were glad that they finally came out clean. But they pitied the other two members for one of them was dense about his feelings for Haruhi while the other one was aware and hadn't even had the courage to confess.
"She is a legitimate lady and mistress of the Ootori Group and I wish that everyone will treat her well," Yoshio smiled, though his eyes had a look of maliciousness in it. "I hope that nobody will bother her and treat her like any member of the Ootori Group. I'm expecting to hear good news."
Kyoya remained silent, knowing full well of what his father meant. If anyone dared to bully Haruhi again or badmouth her about her position as a commoner or that she didn't deserve to be his wife, then they would face hell. Yuuichi, Fuyumi, and even Akito were there to assure that Haruhi would live her life in the Ootori family without any troubles. The guests hesitantly clapped and kept his words in mind. After witnessing that scene, no one dared to talk badly about her. Besides, they had nothing bad to say about her other than her commoner status.
Everyone gave their nods in the head and complied with Yoshio's wish. Kyoya and Haruhi bowed once again before walking back down the stairs where they were surrounded by people who wanted to congratulate them.
"Congratulations, Kyoya-sama," they said.
"What a beautiful wife you have," another said.
"Haruhi-sama sure is a fair lady," some said.
"Congratulations on becoming a wife of the Ootori Group," one said.
"Please come to our party next time."
The compliments went on and on, Kyoya and Haruhi blindly listening to their words. Haruhi felt nauseous and wanted to throw up at the sight of them. Their sweet voices, their fake smiles, and their eyes filled with distaste...she wanted to run away. The only thing that was keeping her standing was Kyoya's firm arm around her waist. Kyoya noticed her pale and sickly complexion and furrowed his eyebrows in worry.
"If you will excuse me, I have some other business to attend to," Kyoya smiled.
"Of course," they all bowed.
"Come, Haruhi," Kyoya gestured her along and Haruhi followed. "It must be tiring. Being surrounded by all those adults."
Haruhi nodded her head slightly, her bangs covering her eyes. "Are they always like that?"
"Most of them, yes. It is the business world after all," Kyoya said, his eyes cold. "Do you regret being my wife?"
Haruhi immediately shook her head. "I don't regret anything."
Kyoya smiled and placed a gentle kiss on her head. "I don't regret marrying you either, Haruhi."
Haruhi smiled and all of a sudden, she found it a lot easier to breathe. They were far away from the crowd of people who had gone off to party amongst themselves and the others. Kyoya led her back to her resting area and sat her down.
"The party's going to end a bit after midnight," Kyoya said. "You can hold on until then, right?"
Haruhi nodded her head and smiled. "A little after midnight's nothing. I've been staying up late past midnight doing my homework after all."
Kyoya chuckled. "I don't know if I should compliment or reprimand you for that."
"Then you can just say nothing," Haruhi smiled.
The two laughed and their moment of being together was soon interrupted by a loud parading of feet up the stairs and into the resting area on the second floor. The curtains flew open and the butler tried stopping them but to no avail.
"It's fine," Haruhi smiled at the butler. "They're our friends."
The butler nodded and went back to guarding the resting area, the curtain closing behind them. Kyoya and Haruhi sighed and turned to the Host Club members, who had varying expressions. The two knew that they had a lot of questions waiting to be asked and they braced themselves for the sudden burst of questions.
