《Hero Of Olympus》Why is it always me?

I was running from the Chimera and the Nemean Lion. I should've probably not called it a chihuahua the first time I encountered it.
I didn't understand how two legendary monsters could team up against one skinny demigod. Like seriously?
I was currently somewhere near New Jersey.
I didn't really have anything that belonged to any of my friends so I couldn't really ask Mrs. O'Leary to try and sniff them out.
In all honesty, I made a pretty stupid mistake by running out of camp, but at the same time I felt that I was atleast trying something. Don't judge me.
The two monsters were gaining on me. I needed to figure out how to do that mist teleportation thingy. I tried turning my body into mist but it didn't work.
I ran helplessly, loosing stamina and slowing down. Oh and by the way, it was around eleven in the night. The streets were empty and even if there were any mortals around, I have no idea what they would have seen or been able to do.
I kept slipping and sliding because of the melting snow on the ground. One of the monsters pounced on me, causing me to smash into the snow. It was cold and warm at the same time, which was when I saw my warm red blood painting the snow.
Great, I'm going to die because of an enlarged pussy cat and chihuahua. The judges were probably going to burst out laughing.
All of a sudden, there was loud yelp and yowl above me. I managed to turn around and stare at the huge icicles potruding out of the maws of the two beasts.
The monsters dissolved into golden dust, leaving behind no spoils of war.
My eyesight was getting blurry and darkening and I was slowly slipping out. I felt a sharp slap on my face and my eyesight cleared partially. It cleared enough for me to be able to see my savior. Khione, the goddess of snow.

She slipped a cube of ambrosia into my mouth and turned me around.
I gave a weak groan.
"Shut up," she mumbled, as I felt something being dribbled on my back.
"I'm prevented from intervention, but I don't think it'll make a difference if I tell you they're all in Tartarus."
With that, she teleported away. I rolled over painfully and looked down at my chest to find it completely healed.
I wish she had stayed. I wonder how she knew I was going to die. On a happy note, I needed to jump into a pit.
Great! I had to go back into that hell hole.
The problem was that I didn't want to go back into Tartarus. It scared me. I regret ever going down there for Annabeth. It was her fault for getting too caught up in her pride and forgetting about the web. It was also my stupid fatal flaw that caused me to jump into hell with her.
I closed my eyes and breathed deeply, trying maximise my powers and dissolve into water vapour.
I almost gave up, when someone else did it for me. I was turned into vapour and whisked away back towards New York.
I solidified on Mount Olympus, by the elevator. I spotted a cloaked figure walking up the path.
I wanted to call out to them because they seemed suspicious, but I couldn't do anything. It was as if I was frozen in time. The figure disappeared from view and reappeared right next to me.
"Perseus Jackson," he spoke in a deep and powerful voice.
I still found myself unable to respond.
"Why do you fight for these gods?" He asked curiously. "How come you haven't broken yet? Tell me, do you enjoy being a pawn of others? They aren't even good rulers. You know what they really are."

I found my voice once again, but I was unable to come up with a good answer. He had me. Why did I fight for them? Was it because they were my family?
The figure chuckled and shook his head. "Go save your friends. A war approaches, one that will put an end to era of the Greek and Roman pantheons."
With that, he disappeared without a trace and I started to feel light headed.
WHY WAS IT ALWAYS ME?
I wish I could have ranted more about my rotten luck, honestly, I needed to have a chat with Tyche. Unfortunately, I was interrupted when I realised that I was falling into tartar sauce. Oh goody. Here we go again.
Dry air, red haze, evil feeling, definitely tartar sauce, oops, Tartarus.
I think I might have fallen asleep during my fall, and you can't really blame me. Imagine just falling for nine days straight. Yeah. You can't possibly imagine how boring it is.
After I don't how long, I could finally see Tartarus. You can now imagine just how bored I was. Yes, I was happy to see hell.
I looked down to find myself approaching a murky black river.
Oh goody.
Hades' underpants, I didn't fall for nine days just to be disintegrated by a river that rhymes with the word sticks.
No offence Lady Styx, I had an amazing time bathing in your waters.
Oh well, what's the worst that could happen if I fell into the Styx for a second time?

How would he come to terms with his new nature, his larger-than-life family, the agendas of warring factions, and the destiny he never asked for?
