I stood frozen in the rain thinking – what the hell is wrong with singing a nursery song? – which happens to have their names. I mean maybe their mothers is a fan of the song, or maybe I'm just insensitive. Ugh.
I don't know the reason behind it, but I do know what I'm going to do.
"I-I'm sorry." I said, and intentionally didn't dare to look at any of them, to avoid further embarrassment. I'd rather enjoy looking at the muddy ground underneath me.
Tristan walked towards me and escorted me to the truck. "You shouldn't have apologized." He whispered, as we climbed at the back seat.
I sighed. "They deserve one. I offended them, kind of."
"But you didn't mean to."
"Still." Our conversation was cut off when Jill got inside the car. Awkward.
He immediately started the car without a word, and drove off to the dark slippery road. He took two bottled water on the passenger's seat and gave it to us using his freehand.
"Thanks." Tristan and I both said, and Jill just nodded. The two of us exchanged glances and shrugged.
That two hour drive was the most silent, yet not peaceful ride ever. The awkward-air still hangs between us even though we've reached our destination.
Jill parked the car inside a private resort of some sort. Tristan then lead me to a white door fence, at the side of the small open building facing the entrance, which somewhat looks like their reception area. Jill on the other hand, went there and sat at one of the white painted chairs. Immediately, the concierge gave him a towel to dry off, well, because Tristan happened to take his umbrella.
I sighed. The rain totally covered the beauty of this place. It was dark and grim, I can't see the place clearly, and even the sea was on rage. We then walked inside a white mansion, a few yards from where we entered.
The house's front was inspired by Greek structure, with amazing pillars in the entrance way towards the black massive two-way door. The sides of the house was lined with famous sculptures in spotlights. As we walked on the entrance, I felt guilty for dirtying the spotless marbled floor. When we arrived at the door, it immediately opened, and we're now face to face with Divina.
"Oh dear, you guys look like babies that just got out from the vagina." She said while looking at us, and it made Tristan and I laugh. Then she handed us towels, and welcomed us in.

"Where's Jill? I thought he's with you. He called me that you've arrived." She asked, while we walked into a white hallway with red carpet, which makes me feel even guiltier because of my muddy shoes. The walls were full of amazing paintings, and more statues – that looks like the smaller versions of the ones outside – it was placed on top of cut pillars in between paintings. It feels like walking in a museum.
"He's in the reception area. Probably waiting for Jack." Tristan simply said, and Divina just nodded. I think he noticed how dumbstruck I am with all this.
The end of the hallway was a massive space with a fountain in the center, and there were arched doors on each side with intricate designs, probably leading to more rooms. There was a massive staircase upfront that leads to the second floor of this mansion. I can see a huge glass window at the top of the stairs, and an expensive looking chandelier.
"Tristan please escort dear Victoria to the guestroom." She paused and looked at me. "There's a medicine and a glass of water, on the side table of your room. Drink it." I nodded and smiled, she somewhat reminded me of my mom.
"Good girl." She patted my head. "After shower, you rest. We'll have a long day tomorrow. Hoping that it won't rain like this."
Tristan and I went up the stairs and turned left into another hallway. I think every hallway in this house is decorated with paintings. He then came to a stop on the first door that we saw.
"This is your room. I guess." His face was telling the truth. He really has no idea. So he opened it and went inside, checking if there are signs of any living life forms residing in here. "It's clear." He almost sounded like a soldier checking for bombs.
I instantly laid down on the soft mattress looking at the... painted ceiling. Holy guacamole. Wow this is awesome. The interior was quite the same in the room I slept in Tristan's condo, mostly white, but this has a more feminine feel into it. I think it's the fresh pot of sunflowers on each side of the tall glass window makes it like that, or the overall abundance of flowers in this room in general.
Tristan didn't left yet. He's sitting on the white sofa opposite the bed, and he's holding a glass of water and the medicine Divina instructed earlier.

"Don't forget." He casually said, I think he's expecting me to get up and drink it. Not gonna happen.
"My fever's gone. I don't need it." I lied, I hate medicines. The fever actually came back after I got soaked in the rain, and was blasted with air conditioner in Jill's car.
Tristan sighed, I think he already anticipated this to happen. He stood up and sat next to me. "Drink it, or I will shove it in your mouth."
I sat up and looked at him. "Like y..." Before I could even finish my sentence, he did shove the medicine in my mouth, knowing I'd fight him on his threat.
I was about to spit it out, but he covered my mouth with his hand. "Swallow it." I'm actually tearing up. This medicine is so bitter, even worse than eating shit. Okay erase the thought of a shit buffet. I think I'm going to puke...
Actually I was able to swallow that fucked up medicine. After that I hastily took the glass in his hand and gulped it in a second. I panted heavily. Then I glared at him.
"Asshole. Were you trying to kill me?" He laughed.
"Not really." He stood up. "Get a shower and change. Dinner is almost ready. Mom forgot to tell you that."
I just gave him the double holy finger, I'm still really pissed. He just laughed and left.
So I took a shower because I already stink. After that I realized, I don't have any clothes to change on. I stayed in my bath robe, rolling and thinking in my bed.
Should I go down and ask Divina, or go to Tristan's room, in this? The second option was not really an option. He might misinterpret my get up, and think I'm seducing him. Okay. Why is careless whisper – a song that pumps estrogen in your brain – suddenly popped in my head.
I sighed. I should just skip dinner.
When I was about to close my eyes and sleep, someone suddenly bolted in my room, and she was damn pretty. A foreign beauty. I've never seen a natural red head before, so I'm really mesmerized. She looks somewhat like a girl in a movie singing yoda-ley-hi-ho.
"Hi I'm Anna. Jack'z bearer." I squinted my eyes. It's a thing I do, when I don't have a clue on what someone is talking about.
"Bearer?" I asked.
"Yez. I'm bringing hiz child." She said in a full smile.
Her English wasn't quite good either, and I guess that adds more to the cute factor. Bringing, actually made me imagine like bring to school, bring to the park, or just simple bring to anywhere—kinda bring.
Wait pause that. Why can't she just say, I'm his wife or girlfriend? I decided I won't pry further about that, maybe it's a term they use in their country.
"Your drezz iz in the clozet." She paused. "Mizz Divina wanted me to help you."
"Iz..." I stopped I was close to imitating how she talks. "It's okay. I can manage." I stood up and paced the room looking for a closet.
She noticed what I was doing and that made her laugh. Maybe I looked pathetic when I grunted and looked really desperate, because I can't find that damned closet to Narnia. I even looked for it in the bathroom.
She called me. "It'z there." She pointed at a white door next to the bed. Damn. Why did they paint it white? It just blends in with the wall, or maybe that's the purpose. Genius actually, that way it's not easy to find Narnia.
"Thank you so much. You're a saint. I thought I'll be wearing this to dinner." I gestured to my bathrobe and she laughed.
"It iz true. What they zay. You make people happy." She moved forward and hugged me.
That is when I felt her bump, I mean aside from the boobs, is her growing tummy. She's pregnant...bearer. Then suddenly, something just dawned on me. Like I just touched a ball of fortune, well on my part it's a pregnant woman's belly.
Holy molly's shit! Is this why I'm here? A ritual? To be a bearer? Oh fuck... I don't want to have a ball of fortune yet.

Ashes of the Primordial
With the upcoming shutdown of the servers for Ragnarok Games’ deep dive VRMMO, ‘Ashes of the Primordial’, the player log of those online for the final night was depressingly empty-looking. A revolutionary level of realism drove Ashes to the forefront of the games market, billions of players enjoying their journey to power and glory as an avatar of their own creation. The final enemy of the game-world defeated, the company announced, in line with their stance from launch, that they would be shutting down the game exactly six months after the defeat of Sutr, the final boss. Ammanas, the player responsible for Sutr's defeat, stays online until the end. However, as the countdown hits 0, the start-hub of his dive rig (what would typically greet a forced ejection from a game) was no where to be seen and instead darkness greets him as he fades into unconsciousness. Awakening to unfamiliar sights in an unfamiliar body, one which turns out to be a lot more familiar than he first thought, now he must figure out where, how, why and what to do with the new world he finds himself in. Author note: I don't own the cover, just something found through a google search. This is also my first story and the MC will basically be unimaginably OP yet never really utilising his full power. He just wants to find somewhere to fit in to the new world he finds himself in and despite both his nature as a loner and his interests he will find himself forming connections with the denizens of this new realm. Hope you enjoy
