During the night, Cole, Zane, and Jay are all outside on the deck of the Destiny's Bounty, each attacking the silhouette of what appears to be Lizaru. In the middle of the battle, a light shines onto them, they were only attacking a training dummy.

"Good training. Your powers are getting stronger. But where's Kai and Aria?" Nya asked

Inside the Bounty, Kai carelessly wears the Green Ninja suit "Fire! Unlock Fire! Uh, Fire go! Shoot flames! Oh, come on. Everyone else can do it. So can you. Bring heat!" The Ninja find him in front of a mirror and laugh.

"Very nice. Perhaps if you tried the phrase "Fire dork," maybe it might work" Cole laughed

Kai removed the mask "How long have you all been watching?"

"The Green Ninja suit. That's awesome!" Jay said excitedly

"Well, I was looking for some kind of clue from Sensei and then I found this" Kai explained

Zane shook his head "But you know only he who is foretold to face Lord Garmadon is destined to be the Green Ninja, and only he should wear the Green Ninja outfit. So Sensei would most likely be very-"

Kai sighed "I know, I know. But I thought if I just tried it on, it might help me see my True Potential. It's not fair that you guys have unlocked your cool powers and I still haven't. Besides, Sensei's gone and we don't know when he's coming back-"

A door opens and they hear Wu "Hello? I'm home"

All but Kai yells "Sensei!"

Kai goes to change back into his gi. The others greet Wu. Aria ran out of her room and hugged Wu

Wu chuckled "Ah. It's so good to be home"

"So glad you're back" Zane said

"Did you bring us anything?" Cole questioned

Jay smiled "Oh, Sensei, have you missed a lot. Zane's a Nindroid, Nya's the mysterious Samurai, Cole and Aria are dancers-"

"Zane is a...what?" Wu questioned confused

Aria laughed "You've been gone awhile"

"We'll catch you up later. But you should know, all of us except for Aria and Kai have discovered our True Potential" Zane informed

"Have you now? Where is Kai?" Wu asks

Kai runs in, in his own g "Right here. So glad you're back safe" Garmadon comes up from behind Wu "Aah! Sensei, behind you!" He goes to attack the Dark Lord while Zane dives to guard Wu.

"Kai, stop!" Wu shouted "He is the reason I left. For so long as Pythor has Lloyd, he will be our guest"

The ninjas were all shocked

"We have to live with this guy?"

"But Sensei, he has four arms!"

"Uh, must I remind you ever since he turned evil, he's been trying to get our Golden Weapons?"

"Enough!" Wu shouted

"Yes, Sensei" the boys all said

"guys remember, Lloyd is Garmadon's son" Aria said

"This isn't about the weapons. It's about my son" Garmadon clarified

"From here on out, you will obey me and you will respect my brother" Wu ordered

"Yes, Sensei" the ninjas agreed

"Now to the bridge. We must put our attention to more pressing matters" Wu commanded adnt hey headed to the bridge

Aria stayed behind with Garmadon and hugged him

"You've gotten bigger since I last saw you" Garmadon said

"of course, I'm a big girl now" Aria said happily

"I suppose, you still have a long way to go" Garmadon said "let's go"

They go to the bridge, Aria stood next to Kai.

"So, where are we at with the four Fangblades?" Wu asked

"Oh, Pythor's managed to take the first two, but there's still two left" Jay replied

"And we only need one in order to prevent him from unleashing the Great Devourer" Cole added

"Any luck finding their whereabouts?" Wu questioned

"No, but the Falcon is programmed to alert us if he sees any suspicious activity" Zane informed him

"Good. If we find the Fangblade, we find Lloyd. Kai and Nya, prepare the deck and double check the anchor. We need to be ready when we first get word of activity" Wu commanded

"Yes, Sensei" Kai and Nya agreed

The Ninja watch Garmadon as he brushes his teeth with a dagger. At the dinner table, Kai and Cole stares at Garmadon while he eats black grubs.

"What's he eating?" Cole questioned

"Condensed Evil. Supposed to be low in fat" Kai replied

A grub flies off his plate towards Kai who brushes it away with his fork.

"Can I try some?" Aria questioned looking at it

Kai looked at her "I don't think-"

"sure kiddo" Garmadon said giving her some

The ninjas watched shocked as Aria ate it happily. Jay and Nya are then relaxing in the video game room while they watch a romantic movie together. Only for Lord Garmadon to disrupt it by changing the channel. Lord Garmadon also sunbaths on the deck during a thunderstorm, and interrupts the Ninjas' sleep the following night with electricity.

Aria turned over in her bed to face Garmadon "Garmadon can you stop please, I'm sleepy"

Garmadon stopped "Sorry princess"

Aria closed her eyes and fell back asleep leaving the ninjas confused. The next day Lord Garmadon plays video games in the video game room, Cole and Zane observing together from afar. Kai approaches them commenting that he's playing the game incorrectly, but Cole and Zane admit that Lord Garmadon is fascinating without his villainous intentions.

Meanwhile, in the Forest of Tranquility, the Falcon spots the Serpentine heading to the Fire Temple. Despite the footage being displayed on the screen in the bridge, Kai is too caught up in preparing himself for his future battle to see it. Upon hearing Master Wu speaking to Nya, Kai follows their voices down the hall to overhear his Master speaking of the possibility of Nya becoming the Green Ninja.

"It was foolish of me to think that a girl could not be the destined Green Ninja" Wu says as Kai peers through the window while standing on a stepstool.

"Nya's the Green Ninja?" Kai said to himself

Garmadon came "What are you doing out here?"

"Whoa!" Kai falls off the stepstool "What are you doing out here?"

"Evil never sleeps" Garmadon replied

"Yeah, well, good never rests" Kai said

"Maybe we should take care if this right now" Garmadon said

They push each other and Nya rushes out.

"guys guys what are you two doing here?" Nya questioned

"why don't you ask Mr. SnoopyPants" Garmadon replied

"Kai, were you spying on me?" Nya asked

"No, maybe"Kai said "so are you the green ninja?"

"What, no" She said

"The truth is, she never wanted to know" Wu said as he came out of the room

"At first, all I wanted was to be like you, but after seeing how obsessed you've become and discovered what I could do on my own, I'm happy being a Samurai" Nya said

Jay then appears at the door "Kai you were supposed to be watching, Zane's Falcon spotted them"

They all hurry back to the bridge to watch the monitor

"Looks like Pythor is at the Temple of Fire" Nya said

"That means the Fangblade is there" Kai said

"And Lloyd" Garmadon added

"That's the same Fire Temple where Kai and Lord Garmadon first faced off" Jay recalled

"If my memory serves me correct, I'd say one of us cheated back when we last fought" Kai said angrily

"And I remember someone needing their Sensei to save them" Garmadon replied

"Stop!" Aria shouted "Lloyd is in danger and you two are arguing like children!"

"Aria is right, for the sake of the Fangblade and Lloyd, can we please just get along?" Cole said

"Since the last time we've been there, it looks like the volcano has grown unstable. The place is a powder keg just waiting to blow up. This will be a highly combustible environment" Nya informed

"Oh, great. Just what I like. Fighting armed and deadly snakes in a highly combustible environment about to blow up!" Jay shouted

"We will do what we must" Wu said

"Yes, Sensei. But where are our weapons?" Zane asked

"And why is Lord Garmadon not here?" Kai questioned before leaving the bridge.

"Kai!" Wu shouted after him

Kai runs downstairs and finds Lord Garmadon with the four Golden Weapons in his possession. Immediately, they both spring into battle, with Kai closing the door as Nya comes by to investigate.

Realizing that the door is locked, Cole breaks the door down using the powers of his True Potential, only to find Kai pinning Lord Garmadon to the ground as he declares himself the victor.

"I beat him, are my eyes glowing, did I unlock my true potential" Kai asked excitedly

"You cannot beat someone who allowed himself to be defeated" Wu said

"I wasn't going to hurt you boy, I was only fetching your weapons" Garmadon said as Wu helped him up

"But you were trying to steal them!" Kai shouted

"I asked him to get them. Perhaps it is best you do not reach your True Potential, or else someone could get hurt" Wu said

Kai angrily walks away and Aria went to comfort him. She hugged him.

"thanks Aria" Kai said hugging her back "I don't get it"

"Kai ninjas are not only fighters" Aria said "they're protectors"

The Destiny's Bounty arrives at the Fire Temple and the group travels inside. They watch as the Serpentine dig for the Fangblade.

"There's Lloyd" Jay said pointing out Lloyd's location in a cage.

Rattla uncovers the Fangpyre Fangblade, much to Pythor's pleasure. While Pythor gleefully gazes at the Fangblade, he notices the Ninja in the reflection.

"Attack" he shouted pointing at them.

"We can't fight, the volcano's too unstable" Aria said

"Attack light, do not use your golden weapons" Wu comanded

The Ninja quickly fend them off. They all used their elemental powers except Kai and Aria who do not have them.

"Kai" Aria said as they were both surrounded

"I have to do it" Kai said before pulling out the sword of fire defeating them

The weapon caused the volcano to become unstable and started falling apart and the lava rised.

"Kai, the weapon is compromising our safety!" Nya shouted

"I will do what I must" Kai replied

Pythor started heading to the exit "Let's get out of here! But not before we leave them with a parting gift. Boys?" The Constrictai dig up some holes.

"They're making the volcano even more unstable" Zane informed them

"Any minute this place is gonna blow! We have to get out of here!" Aria shouted

"Not without my son" Garmadon said going after them

Seeing that Lloyd is causing the trouble, Pythor orders the Serpentine to get rid of the caged boy by dropping him to the landing below. Lord Garmadon continues to fight the Serpentine to get the cage, finally reaching it and pulling up his son before his cage could fully melt in the lava.

"I'm getting the Fangblade" Kai said to Aria before ruining up the stairs

"Me too, I'm coming" Aria said following him

"Aria Kai Come back. It's too dangerous. The whole place is going to explode!" Cole shouted

Aria took out her fan and made a blast of wind that makes the Fangblade blow out of Pythor's grasp though it falls near the lava.

"sorry" Aria apologised

"Don't worry about it, we'll get it" Kai said

The snakes escape before the entrance is blocked. Kai leaps down to the Fangblade.

"Leave it guys! It's not worth your life!" Jay shouts

"Not without the Fangblade!" Aria shouts leaping down to Kai

Everyone except for Kai and Aria meets up at the exit.

"We cant leave them" Lloyd said looking at Aria, the ground under him breaks

The group watches in horror as the rock falls to the lava below. Lloyd stands on the sinking piece of rock. The volcano rumbled as more rocks fell.

"No! Lloyd!" Garmadon shouted

"Dad! Dad! I'm sinking!" Lloyd shouted

"We have to get out of here, or else none of us will get out of here" Wu said

They leave, and the entrance is blocked by rocks.

"Kai what do we do?" Aria asked worried

"Come on, why won't my power unlock?" Kai questioned frustrated

"Aria! Kai! Help me!" Lloyd shouts and Kai looks at him, then at the Fangblade before coming to a decision. He picks up Aria and gets to Lloyd.

"Come on. Let's get out of here" Kai said

Lloyd looked past him "But the Fangblade-"

"Forget it. This place is coming apart. I need to get you two kids out of here safely. Ninja, go!" KAi uses Spinjitzu to leap from ledge to ledge but they are surrounded by lava geysers, Kai picks up Lloyd too

"Kai I'm scared" Aria said holding onto him and Lloyd

"We're not going to die here" Kai said holding onto the two "I'm going to protect you two"

Meanwhile everyone else reaches the Destiny's Bounty, the entire team distressed as they see lava exploding out of the volcano.

"Kai!"

"Son!"

"Aria!"

A ball of fire shoots out of the volcano. It's soon revealed to be Kai, Aria, and Lloyd flying back to the Bounty.

"It's Kai! He's found his True Potential!" Jay shouts happily

The three land; Kai removes his mask and gives a look of understanding to Wu before his power diminishes and he passes out. The Bounty takes off for open skies.

In the bridge, everyone watches the Garmadons have a proper reunion.

"Dad? Is it really you?" Lloyd questions

"It is, son" Garmadon replied

"Dad? Why do you have four arms?" Lloyd asked confused and Aria laughed a bit

"He's gonna be okay" Cole said and the Ninja cheer.

Garmadon turned to Kai "Thank you, Kai"

"But how did you survive? How did you discover the key to unlocking your powers?" Zane asked

"I knew when I had to make a choice. I wanted the Fangblade so badly, to prove I was good enough to become the Green Ninja. But then I figured it out. All of my training to become the best Ninja wasn't in preparation to become the Green Ninja. It was... to protect him" He looks at Lloyd while everybody else catches on to what he means.

"wait, you mean?" Aria questioned looking at Lloyd

"What? What is everybody looking at me for?" Lloyd asked

Nya, Kai and Cole bring the weapons in front of Lloyd, and they react by levitating and emitting green lightning.

"Lloyd is the Green Ninja. I had thought it would be one of you, but it was him the whole time. It all makes sense. Not only have you four been chosen to protect the Golden Weapons, but also to protect the Chosen One" Wu said and the weapons fall to the floor.

Garmadon turned sad "That means..."

"The battle lines have been drawn, brother. Sadly, our family has only become more divided. Brother versus brother, and now, son versus father" Wu said and the group develops looks of sadness

Aria looked out the window "So everyone's found their place... except for me"

"well it's a good thing we have an extra bed, the one above Aria" Cole said

Aria looked at him "excuse me"

"yay I get to bunk with Aria" Lloyd said happily hugging her

Aria smirked "then you better hope I don't put fire ants in your bed"

Lloyd went on his knees I front of her "no please, not again"

The ninjas and Aria laughed.

Aria helped him stand up and whispered in his ear "of course, I wouldn't hurt my fiance"

Lloyd's face turned red.

"what did you say?" Kai asked

Aria put a finger in front of her mouth and smiled "it's a secret"
