《The Lieutenant》Fifteen

An alarm clock rang out and my eyes shot open wide.
"What the fuck!" I shouted at Axel who lay beside me, staring at me. I backed away rapidly and a slow, sexy smile grew on his lips.
"You look so innocent when you sleep. It's uncanny." He replied.
"Who stares at someone while they sleep?" I sat myself up in his bed, my dark hair falling loosely around my shoulders and his oversized T-shirt hugged my body.
"You talk in your sleep you know?"
He climbed out of bed and gripped onto one of the wooden beams that hung off the roof. He started pulling his body weight up and down and I couldn't pull my eyes away. I bit into the soft flesh of my lips, trying to contain my budding emotions at the sight of his torso muscles clenching and unclenching.
"What did I say?" I muttered, basically conversing with his abs. He dropped down from the bar and his eyes came into my line of sight again.
"We need to get you out of here before anyone knows you spent the night." He replied, ignoring my question. I rubbed my eyes while he fixed himself a coffee.
"I'll have one of those." He shook his head at me and only filled one cup. "Or not." I muttered as he drank his coffee black with no sugar.
"Do you remember last night?" He flopped down along the bottom of the bed and rested his head on his elbow. My eyes scanned the room.
I was wearing a faded blue T-shirt of his, but I knew I was completely naked underneath. And my boots were next to the bed but I couldn't see any other clothes.
"I went to the bar, drank too much." I began explaining, running through my nights events.
"You went back to the bar!" He squealed, sitting up and gripping his hand around the cup tighter. I ignored his outburst.
"We were laughing at you because you were such a hardass and you needed to get laid. So I said I would take one for the team. I guess that's what happened here?" I gestured down at my attire.

"Wait." He said dangerously. "Are you telling me someone knows you came here last night?" He stood up, making slow careful movements. I stretched out in his bed.
"Only my roommates." I answered casually.
His eyes widened and he made strange whistling sounds through his lips. Followed by some hyperventilated breathing.
"It's okay, it's not like I'm going to see any of them again. You're sending me away this morning, they'll just think I left last night."
His jaw clenched tightly and he looked at me, worry staining his beautiful eyes.
"Harper" he sighed "I never put the request in to have you moved." My mouth dropped open and I sat staring in silence.
"You didn't?" He shook his head and sat himself down on the end of the bed, just quietly absorbing everything. I crawled up to him and placed my two hands on either one of his cheeks.
"Hey, it's okay. Stop worrying." His amber eyes blinked back at me with concern and I leaned down to kiss his soft lips. He pulled back, rejecting me.
"Harper." He grumbled. I chanced a smile.
"So you can fuck me last night but you can't kiss me this morning?" I asked sarcastically.
"Nothing happened last night." He stood up and backed away. He moved himself over to the sink and started brushing his teeth.
"Can I use your toothbrush?" He spat out and turned to face me, his expression asked 'are you for real?'
"No." He said with authority.
He searched in his drawer and pulled out some sweatpants, throwing them at me.
"Here's what we're going to do." He glanced at the watch on his wrist and then looked back at me, "you're going to go pretend to sleep behind the cafeteria and I'll send one of the generals to come find you and bring you to the bootcamp field. You'll tell your roommates you never even made it to my quarters. I'll have to punish you to make it look real."
I sucked in my lips and inhaled through my nose. "Or we could just tell them nothing happened." I pointed out.

"You don't know what he's like." Axel muttered quietly, shaking his head.
"Who?" My whole face twisted up in bewilderment.
"My father." He replied monotonously.
"Who is your father?" I really wasn't following.
He arched his brow at me and stared at me like I should already know the answer to this question.
"The commander."
It was at that moment everything fell into place. The resemblance was uncanny. They were both tall with sharp features, they both radiated power, they both had heavily built bodies and brown eyes. Axel was the younger version of his dad.
"So is all of this a ploy to impress your dad or are you actually passionate about your job?"
His face hardened and his shoulders straightened. Instantly raising his guard high and pulling back all of the emotions from his eyes. He cleared his throat.
"Stand to attention solider." He called out. I looked at him blankly. "Now Williams." reluctantly I climbed out of his bed and stood up straight, raising my hand to my head. "Um... the T-shirt rises up." He muttered, losing all of his cool with colour flushing through his complexion. I dropped my arm and pulled on his huge sweatpants.
"Behind the cafeteria?" I asked, changing the subject. He nodded. "Be quick sending the general." I tucked the bottom of his pants into my boots and left, dodging the large amount of staff walking around the quarters this morning. Thankfully I made it behind the cafeteria unnoticed and lay down in the fetal position, closing my eyes.
"Williams! Wake up." I jolted upright and mumbled something incoherent. "Have you been drinking? He's really going to have your tits for this." The general mumbled.
"No, I passed out. I think I'm sick. I need medical." The general glanced down at my attire and he remained silent for a couple of seconds while he assessed everything. "Were you sleep walking?" He asked.
"Uh, I can't remember, I'm so confused. I think I'm gonna pass out again." I sucked in my lips so I couldn't smile at his stupidity. He got on his walkie talkie.
"This is yellow swan calling for red dog." Within seconds Axel answered back.
"This is red dog answering yellow swans call, what's up general?" My urge to smile only grew deeper.
"I've found Williams sir, she appears to be feeling a little fragile. She was passed out and is requesting medical. Might I be forward enough to claim that she doesn't appear to be in well spirits at all."
"She's fine general, bring her to the field." I grumbled and fell to the floor again, closing my eyes.
"Sir she has passed out again, she needs medical." Axel actually sighed down his walkie talkie. I imagined the annoyance on his face so clearly. I needed to bite into the side of my cheek to stop myself from laughing out loud.
"Fine general. Send her back to her bed and get medical in to assess her. Inform all necessary recruits I will be stopping by their quarters at seventeen hundred hours. Over and out."
The stupid general helped me back to my dorm and set me down on the bed. Somehow it felt even more uncomfortable now that I had experienced the luxury of Axels bed. A nurse came in not long after, she checked my temperature, my blood pressure and my pulse rate everything checked out fine.
"I will inform the Lieutenant that your body crashed because you're over worked." She smiled sweetly at me.
"I'm sure he'll love that." I croaked.
"Get some rest, you will be as good as new tomorrow."
I closed my eyes, enjoying the rare emptiness of my living quarters and relishing in how smart I was for this cunning plan.

Breakers
My name is Joo In-gong. The name that my parents gave me meant ‘protagonist’ of the world. As anyone can predict, I was constantly teased due to my name. In kindergarten, elementary school, middle school and high school. If I went to university as planned then I would probably be laughed at there as well. So, at one point, I really hated my name. But not anymore. Now, I think slightly differently. Maybe being named Joo In-gong was a type of foreshadowing?

Edge Cases (Book 1 Complete!)
Rare classes and powerful skills are helpful. Too bad the system doesn't seem built to handle them. What even are all these errors? Our team of outcasts and adventurers will have to rely on their trust - and the bane of all stories, healthy communication - just to survive, let alone understand what the system is doing. Because they're quickly realizing that it's doing something; to people, to monsters, and maybe even to the gods themselves. And their goal isn't just to survive; it's to make things better. It's a good thing they're not doing it alone. --- Edge Cases is an attempt to take the LitRPG genre and the overpowered MCs trope and write a story where numbers aren't everything. Sometimes it takes trust, support, and just a touch of being very, very clever. Expect a mix of action, slice-of-life, friendship, and ominous worldbuilding. Updates M-W-F at 6pm EST. A Goblin's Blade (dropped)
He looked down the path, which was littered with many things. Things he found in abundance were such of violence, desire and gore while things he found in scarcity were such of love, friendship and glory. At the start of the path was a naive, green goblin while at the end of it... Well at the end of it stood him: the godslayer, the monster from the forest, the walking death... He had many names but none so that perfectly captured his image as well as the Mad King. Authors note: Edit: Trying to release a chapter per day, around 2-2.5k words each. An evolution story about a goblin. This is under lit-rpg but I'm focusing more on the plot/characters instead of the usual features of such stories such as the blue tables that take ages to make or the stat screens. In essence it's closer to high fantasy than lit-rpg. Much appreciated if you read the Prologue to see whether you like it or not. Cover image is "Evolution" taken from art done by WhoAmI01
