The Yule ball was something everybody from Hogwarts, Durmstrang and Beauxbatons have been looking towards to since the Triwizard tournaments started.
Although many were far more interested in the dangerous trials of the tournament most couldn't help but be exited for a night of beautiful music and dancing, of lavish gowns and tailored dress robes.
Many were exited at the prospect of finding dates.
Weeks prior to the ball, the students who were allowed to attend frantically, and for some nervously, searched for a date to go with. One Hogwarts students in particular couldn't go a day without someone approaching him.
And that student was, unsurprisingly, Perseus Achilles Riddle.
Although the Slytherin was sometimes considered aloof, his sarcastic humor seen cold to some, nobody could deny that he was a very desirable date to have. Both girls and boys alike swoon at the sight of his sea green eyes, his silky windswept hair and his tall and lean figure. Even students from Gryffindor couldn't help but agree!
After rejecting the 7th person to ask that week however, Draco Malfoy, who was his closest friend, sighed and rolled his eyes.
"Come on Riddle, stop fooling around and just pick someone! The ball is in two days and you haven't even gotten yourself a date! Not like it should be any problem for you" the blonde snarked.
"I told you, I've already gotten a date."
Blaise Zabini snorted "yeah, and whose this date again? Some mystery person from another school you won't tell us about? I think you're just playing hard to get Riddle" the sea green eyed teen merely smirked "it's a surprise, anyway I think the one who should be worrying is you Zabini. Who is are you taking again? Oh right, nobody cause who wants to be with your sorry as-"

"Oi" a pillow was thrown and successfully dodged "fuck you Riddle."
------------------------------------------------
On the night of the Yule Ball, the Great Hall where students usually ate their meals was transformed into a grand ballroom decorated with winter themed decorations. There was a huge Christmas tree in the corner of the room with beautiful twinkling lights strewn on its branches. White, crystal like snowflakes fell gently from the ceiling in parts of the hall, disappearing before it could touch the floor. Several tables were laden with foods for all the students and their different nationalities. Punch and other drinks were poured into glass and golden goblets.
Witches and wizards were standing together in groups, leaving the dancing area empty for the first dance by the triwizard champions and their dates. Everybody was excited, whispering amongst themselves and anticipating a great night.
"I wonder who Riddle will bring as a date" a student whispered to their friend.
"I don't know but I heard that the student was from Beauxbatons" mutterings like these can be heard throughout. Many were curious about who the Slytherin had asked since nobody actually knew who this mystery person was and after noting that the boy was nowhere to be seen people became more curious.
Suddenly, the huge wooden doors at the entrance of the hall slowly opened and the champions of the Triwizard Tournament trickled in with their dates. The crowds buzzed with excitement as they waved and clapped at the sight of the champions of their respective schools and their partners.
Cedric looked quite dandy in his black dress robes and Cho who was his date stood out with her silver dress inspired by traditional Chinese designs. Krum and Granger was also a sight to behold as many didn't expected the quidditch superstar to ask Hermione of all people. But the true shock of the day? Fleur Delacour and Percy freaking Riddle.

The pair looked absolutely stunning and students from all three schools were left gaping in their wake. The Slytherin and the French girl walked with a confidence that was just ridiculously unfair. Fleur was absolutely gorgeous in her light blue dress which hugged her curves in all the right places. The silver gems that was woven delicately into floral patterns on her neckline and waist accented her gray eyes prettily. Her hair was pulled back into an elaborate bun to show off her elegant features and her neck and collarbone was dusted slightly with sparkling glitter.
All the boys and a good amount of the girls were in awe of the half veela, though her British date also drew many stares. Percy was dressed in well fitting gray dress robes that made his rather muscular build more noticeable with a silver brooch chain pinned to his lapels to match with the gems glittering on Fleur's dress. His hair was somehow even more silkier looking then usual and was slightly curled. There was an easy smirk on the Slytherin's lips that made more then a few students swoon.
It just wasn't fair was it? Two of the arguably most attractive people in the entire school together? They looked like fucking royalty and made the rest of them look like kids playing dress up.
While the champions and their dates take their places at the middle of the room to begin the dance Fleur looked up at Percy and the both of them shared a mischievous grin.
"You're right" murmured Fleur to the other as they began the complicated steps to the first dance.
"That was far more amusing then it should've been" Percy laughed softly "all those people always fawning and making fools of themselves don't deserve you, if you ever need someone to keep you company that can actually think past their hormones I'm all yours Ms. Delecour."
"For now though" the boy spun his date gracefully and seemingly without effort "let's make it so they can't tear their eyes away from us" Fleur grinned and the both of them danced late into the night, the source of envy from many.
