McKayla

After what seemed like forever, we pulled into a garage parking lot. We backed into a narrow space between two other bikes that looked exactly the same as Jax’s. His was second in the row. Jax turned off the bike and I let out a shaky breath.

“You okay darlin’?” He asked with a smirk.

I rolled my eyes and tried to unbuckle the helmet. When I couldn’t get it, he smiled and did it with ease. I huffed and handed it to him. With his smirk, he set in down on the mirror and swung his leg off the bike and stood up.

“This way.” He said.

I got off the bike and followed him passed the garage and to a big building behind it with the same Grim Reaper on the wall.

“What is this place?” I asked him.

He looked over his shoulder at me as he opened the big door.

“The club house.” He said.

I raised my eyebrow and followed him inside. Once we got through the door, I saw to my right a long bar with a lot of bar stools and many different bottles of liquor behind it. There were a few tables and chairs set up and a few pool tables. The Reaper was all over the place and on one of the walls were pictures. Mug shots to be exact of a lot of different men. One of them I could tell was Jax. I turned to face him and then looked at the mug shot. Jax was grinning and led me to the bar.

Behind the bar was a man with curly graying hair and a long beard. He had a vest on too that was sitting just right on his big belly.

“Who’s the chick?” He asked Jax with a weary look.

Jax sat down at the bar and the man handed him a beer.

“Bobby, this is McKayla.” He said with a smirk.

Bobby looked me over and nodded slowly in approval. I looked between the both of them and crossed my arms over my chest.

“Just what exactly are you volunteering me to do?” I asked Jax.

“Club bartender.” He said with a small smile.

I opened my mouth but didn’t say anything. My face flushed and I dropped my arms to my sides.

“Oh.” I said in a small voice.

Bobby laughed and leaned on the bar.

“What kinda work were you expecting honey?” He asked me.

I shrugged and felt my face heat up even more. I looked away from both of them and to the stripper pole.

“No darlin’. We try to keep stuff like that out of Charming.” He said.

I nodded and Bobby handed me a beer.

“You talk to Clay?” Jax asked Bobby.

He nodded slowly and looked at me. I raised my eyebrow and took a sip of the beer.

“They should be back soon.” Bobby said.

Jax lit up a smoke and turned his back on the bar.

“This ain’t gonna be rocket science doll. All you have to do is get us drinks when we’re here and when we have a party. Half Sack will show you the ropes for a while.” Jax said.

I took a hard swallow of my beer and looked at him.

“Half Sack?” I asked.

A smirk crept across this face.

“He’s a prospect. I’m sure you’ll find out what it stands for soon enough.” He said.

I wanted to say more, but the door swung open and the sound of men filled the room.

“Well well, who’s this?” A man with curly black hair and a mustache asked me.

Jax stood up and put out his cigarette.

“This is McKayla, she’s the new bartender.” He said.

“Oh, I’m Tig. At your service sweetheart.” He said as he took my hand and kissed it.

I cringed but forced a smile. The guy beside Tig looked younger. He had his head shaved on the sides with a strip of hair left in the middle and tattoos on the sides of his head.

“I’m Juice.” He said.

He was grinning and stuffed his hands in his pockets. I smiled back at him.

“Chibs.” A guy with black and lightly greying hair said in a Scottish accent.

He had scars on both of his cheeks.

“Where’s Opie and Piney?” Jax asked.

“They’re on the way. They had to pick up Op’s son from school. He got inna fight.” Tig said with a smile.

Jax laughed and took another drink.

“I bet they’re both so proud.” He said.

I shook my head slightly and walked behind the bar. Two more men walked in and the guys all got kind of quiet.

“Who’s the chick?” The older one asked.

He was kind of tall with white and black hair. I noticed the patch on his vest said President on it. He had tattoos and a lot of rings on and in his mouth was a cigar.

“This is McKayla. She’s the new bartender.” Jax said to him.

He didn’t say anything back. He just walked off towards the office style room. From what I could see there was a big table with a lot of chairs around it. That must be where the ‘club business’ happened. Two more men walked in after that. One had a beanie on and instead of a vest he was wearing a full leather jacket. The other man was old with white hair and had tube in his nose for oxygen.

“Opie and Piney.” The young guy that was standing beside me said.

He didn’t have any patches on his vest and it looked new. He must be Half Sack. I nodded and the guys started filing into the room. On the pool table was a cigar box and they all put their cell phones in it. Jax turned to me and smiled.

“We got some business to handle. Why don’t you go outside and have a smoke?” He said.

I knew better than to argue. I nodded and picked my bag up and walked out the door.
