《Daughter of Mortis》Ahsoka

Fulcrum! Ania realized with a start. She moved closer to the dais, listening while Fulcrum spoke.

"The Empire is not going to stop," Fulcrum said, her voice carrying over the crowd. There was one thing Vader was wrong about. Fulcrum was a she, not a him. "This new factory will begin to manufacture weapons and do you know where they will be tested?" Nervous murmurs began to weave through the crowd.

"What if they test them on us?" A Twi'lek next to Ania whispered.

"They will destroy us all!" Someone else answered.

Ania kept her mouth shut, picking apart the building storm within the room. Fulcrum raised her hand and the whisperings ceased. "I know you are all scared and worried. I promise you, we will not let anything happen. Several of you will likely be put to work within the new factory. We have a plan to halt their productions."

Ania leaned forward, listening intently. I can tell Lord Vader of their plans and stop the attacks before they even begin!

"Those of you who are chosen should do everything in your power to sabotage the new weapons. We must do it discreetly, however," Fulcrum warned. "These sabotages must be spread out and coordinated, making them appear like simple malfunctions. If the Empire learns of what we are doing, it could be the end of many people."

"The Empire should watch their backs," the same Twi'lek girl whispered.

"They won't know what hit em," a Weequay said nearby.

"Rebel scum," Ania hissed under her breath. She quickly glanced around, making sure no one had heard her.

"What about the Jedi? Where do they stand in all of this?" Someone called out.

A tall brown haired man stood up next to Fulcrum. He had a strange insignia painted on the armor on his right arm. His hair was pulled back in a pony tail and his turquoise blue eyes searched the crowd seriously.

"We will fight with you," he said.

Ania felt her breath catch. A Jedi! I didn't think there were any of them left. Her hand gripped the form of her lightsaber within her cowl.

"I will help also," Fulcrum said. "In what ways I can. The question is, are you citizens going to fight for yourselves?"

The crowd raised their fists to the air with a raucous cry. "We will fight!" Multiple people cried out.

"Then we wait until this factory is begun. We can take out the Empire right under their nose!" Fulcrum cried out.

Ania slowly began to inch her way out of the crowd. She wove back and forth between multiple citizens. Someone grabbed her arm. "Isn't this great? We're finally doing something about the Empire!"

Ania yanked her arm away and faded into the crowd before someone else could grab onto her. The crowd began to grow rougher, jostling her around. Someone bumped into her from the side, knocking her lightsaber loose. It clattered on the ground, the Imperial Insignia emblazoned on its side rolling into full view.

She watched with horror as someone stopped and picked up the saber. They held it aloft, crying out. "There's an Inquisitor here!"

The cheers of joy turned into screams of terror. Ania kept her shoto blade hidden under her cowl and tried to reach the person holding her lightsaber. Meanwhile, Fulcrum and the tall Jedi had leaped off the dais and come running. Ania halted in surprise, watching the person hand her lightsaber to Fulcrum.

Fulcrum turned the lightsaber over in her hand. "Kanan, this is my lightsaber," she said.

The brown haired Jedi, Kanan, looked at her with surprise. "Are you sure? I thought you left them buried on Mandalore."

Ania struggled to listen in as the crowd around her continued to panic. She noticed the quickly thinning numbers and swiftly ducked behind a support beam. She used the Force to accentuate her hearing.

"I did leave them on Mandalore. Rex and I faked our deaths and they were left on my grave," Fulcrum explained. "It's been altered. See these spikes next beside the pommel? I didn't have those before. Someone changed my lightsabers."

Kanan looked to the person who had found her lightsaber. "Did you see where this came from?"

The Rodian shook his head. "No, I didn't. All I saw was someone with a brown cowl. They looked like they were looking for something."

"Male or female?" Kanan prompted.

Ania didn't hear the answer. The Force was moving around her strangely. She looked at Fulcrum and saw the Togruta's eyes screwed shut in concentration. Ania started, realizing Fulcrum intended to search her out. It was too late.

Fulcrum's blue eyes darted open. "Behind that pillar," she said.

Kanan drew his blaster pistol and pointed it towards the pillar. "Surrender now," he ordered.

Ania lifted her head proudly and stepped out. She kept the hood of the cowl over her face. "You have something of mine," she said.

"And you have information of ours," Kanan growled. He started towards her, but Fulcrum held up a hand.

"Wait," she ordered. Fulcrum looked Ania over. "Who are you?"

"I serve Lord Vader and you are committing the highest acts of treason," Ania replied.

"Yet I can sense conflict within you."

Ania stiffened. "You don't know me."

Fulcrum removed her white cowl, tossing it aside. Lightsabers, akin to Ania's, dangled from her hips. Ania noted the blue eyes, a mirror image of her own. Fulcrum's facial markings formed a diamond, like her calling card. "Do you know who I am?" Fulcrum asked.

"Fulcrum, the Rebel spy," Ania replied. "Give me back my lightsaber."

"Actually, it was my lightsaber once. Who gave it to you?" Ania gave no reply. "Your master, right?"

'What does it matter? If they were yours, it makes no difference. They are mine now," Ania hissed. She reached out with the Force, yanking her lightsaber into her grip and activated it. Its amethyst blade hummed with energy. She drew her shoto also, its white beam shooting out.

Kanan's eyes widened. "I've never seen anyone wield two different colors before."

"They are a symbol of her abilities," Fulcrum exclaimed. "White, because she is highly tuned towards the Light side, and purple, because she hangs right in the middle. She is neither light nor dark."

"I'm glad you seem to think you know me so well," Ania purred. "Now, how well can you fight?" Ania suddenly leaped up, slamming her blades against Fulcrum's white ones. "Good reflexes," Ania taunted. She vaulted off to one side, taking on a battle stance.

The last of the crowd had disappeared. Kanan drew his blue lightsaber and faced Ania. Fulcrum pushed him back. "No. This is my fight." She faced Ania. "Take that hood off. I want to see the face of my enemy."

"Not a chance," Ania growled. Fulcrum began to run towards her. Ania snarled and began to run as well. Fulcrum faltered as Ania drew closer. Ania jumped up and threw herself into a spin, slashing out at Fulcrum with both of her blades. Fulcrum caught both attacks and used the Force, sending Ania hurtling into the dais.

The hood of the cowl fell off. Ania stood up, grunting with pain and removed it fully. "Now you see me, Fulcrum!"

Fulcrum gasped, her lightsabers falling out of her grasp. "Ania!" She choked.

Ania's hands tightened around her sabers. "How do you know my name?"

Kanan put a hand on Fulcrum's shoulder. "It can't be her, Ahsoka. I thought Vader killed her."

That name, Ahsoka. I've heard it before, Ania realized. "Who are you? How do you know my name?"

Fulcrum's hands covered her mouth. "It's me, Ania. Ahsoka Tano."

Tano...my name. Ania stared at her, disbelieving. "Why do you have my name? You can't be. Vader would never name me after you! Why would he?"

"You are Ania Bonteri," Ahsoka prompted. "Don't you remember?"

Ania shook her head, clearing it. "But, no. I'm Ania Tano. I always have been. You're lying!" Ania pointed her lightsaber towards Ahsoka.

"No, Ania!" Ahsoka took a step towards her.

"Ahsoka, don't," Kanan put a hand on her shoulder. "It isn't Ania. Not anymore."

"No, Kanan. She's still there. She just can't remember."

A sudden shudder ran through Ania's skull. She cried out, dropping her lightsabers. She gripped her head in pain. Faces flashed before her eyes. Again, she saw the tattooed man and the beautiful woman. The altar swam in her vision and she saw glimpses of a sky, halted in place. She saw someone who looked like her holding a green lightsaber, cracks in her skin and beady yellow eyes.

A cool hand touched her forehead. Ania regained her vision, looking into Ahsoka's eyes. Ahsoka searched her gaze. "Ania, I know you're still there. Come back to me, please."

Ania felt the Force wrapping around them and an unbearable pressure began to build behind her ribcage. She held her hands up in front of her, her hands shaking uncontrollably. Ahsoka grabbed Ania's hands quickly, allowing the building pressure to join her as well.

A brilliant light flooded Ania's gaze, before she was hurtled away. Voices swirled around her before her vision darkened. Within the chamber, silence fell. Kanan looked on with unchecked amazement in his eyes. On the ground, mother and daughter lay unconcious, separated by two blackened spots where they had stood before.
