"So this whole building is empty?"

I ask wandering through the bottom floor of the large building.

The floors were marble with gold trimming. The hanging glass chandler complimented the area nicely. It was truly a scene made for movies.

"Yes," Cole starts, "Except for the top two penthouses. The rest of the rooms are full of bodyguards and research teams,"

"What are the penthouses for?" I ask.

"That's where I live, as well are your brother," He walks us into the elevator, "He's the only person I truly trust,"

I snort; Yeah, okay.

"That's one thing we don't have in common," I mumble, he wasn't supposed to hear it.

But of course, he did.

"Your brother is a good man, with a good heart,"

"Where's his good heart when you need it?" I snap back, as soon as the elevator doors open I was out.

The large hallway matching the lobby downstairs. It's just as magnificently decorated. The doors are a dark greyish, brown oak with the same gold trim as the walls. The two doors face each other.

"This one's mine," Cole gestures to the one on my right, "The other is your brother's."

Cole opens the door with a fingerprint, holding the door open for me.

I nod in acknowledgment, walking in. The interior of the penthouse does not match the halls. Its theme is one of black, marble, white, and brown walnut wood.

"You like wood?" I raise a brow, everything he owns has at least a touch of different wood. The side of his mouth tilts up slightly.

"It's okay," I finish, "I think it makes everything look classy."

The penthouse was full of large crystal clear windows. The home was truly alluring.

I look around in awe.

Never have I seen so many beautiful items in one place. It's hard to believe that someone even really lives here.

"Te ves Hermosa, Princesa." He whispers in my ear, I try so desperately to hide the goosebumps that threaten to creep up my arms.

(You look beautiful, Princess)

But of course, he notices. I can tell by the little smirk he plasters on his face while sauntering to the kitchen.

"I look the same I did 5 minutes ago,"

"You looked beautiful 5 minutes ago, as well,"

I roll my eyes, following him into the kitchen.

"I have to work in the morning," He states blatantly, "You will have to come with me,"

"Oh! like daddy-daughter day at work?" I squeal sarcastically. Rolling my eyes I sit on the black barstool placed at the island. He winks.

"Only if you want it to be." His teasing voice ignites something within me.

It makes his lips look so much more kissable then normal. His devilish blue eyes still sparkle no matter the lighting

"Where will I be sleeping? In a hotel?" I finally ask.

He chuckles - and Lord does he.

"You will be staying here,"

"I get my own penthouse!" I smile.

He smiles with me and it's the cutest thing I've ever seen. I'd take his genuine smile over his devilish smirk any day.

Although I do love that smirk

"No, Princesa, you'll be living in mine," He comes around to my side of the island, "You'll be sleeping in my room,"

(Princess)

Ha I don't mind

"You mean to tell me," I look around at the glamorous penthouse, "In this whole house, there's not a single guest bedroom." He chuckles.

"It's for your safety until you can start training and defend yourself you will have to stay with either me or your brother," The voice he puts on is very business-like.

It's like really hot

"Do you trust me, Gatita?" He whispers.

(Kitten)

"Yes."

I was surprised by the question, whether that answer was true or not. I did know I'd have to be staying with him for now. I can feel his body heat bounce off of mine. His hand can be felt hovering over my thigh.

"That was your first mistake," He leans in only to kiss the top of my forehead, "Trust no one, Love."

"That's how you get hurt."

I am currently looking through the new clothes one of the female workers brought for me. They're beautiful, truly. Heavenly at the least.

I can only imagine how much it would have cost

My mind starts to drift to Amber. She was my one and only friend. Even before the crash I didn't have many friends, I'm not the best people person. She was someone really supportive in my life, even though she didn't know about what was really happening.

The sound of footsteps takes me out of my thinking, I grab the nearest hanger. Holding it tightly in my hands

Trust no one, Love

Cole's words ring in my ears as I freeze in my spot. The other side knocks lightly twice before opening it all the way.

Elijah

I throw the hanger down before returning to the clothes.

"A hanger? Really?" He laughs from behind me, moving over to the bed.

"Shut up, it was the closest thing," I fight back the smile.

This reminds me of our old banter, our old brother-sister moments. Silence fills the room, I can tell he wants to say something. Anything really.

"When did you change your name?"

"As soon as they took me in," He answers quickly, almost as if he anticipated the question.

"When did you change yours?"

"After my first beating,"

Silence wraps takes hold of the air again.

"Did you really think of me every day?" My voice was quiet, finally hitting on the questions I've been wanting to ask.

"You never left my mind, Lor-" I look at him sharply, "Rose."

I can't hold back the tears anymore, I quickly turn towards him.

"I've missed you so much." I engulf him in the biggest hug I've given in years. Tears falling carelessly out of my eyes.

"You were dead," I say between deep breathes, "I saw it in your eyes,"

"Apparently I was, for 10 minutes, until the ambulance revived me on the ride to the hospital." He starts, "Two men in black suits came into the room that day, sliding a paper to the nurses. They then took me and replaced my body with some little boy that was never claimed from a murder scene."

He pulls back slightly to wipe the tears from my eyes, "I was barely conscious, but I remember passing your room. You were staring hopelessly up at mom. Mom's face was drained from color,"

That's the moment they told her Elijah was dead, that's the moment my world officially ended.

He was there

"When they fixed me back to normal at the gang house. I begged for you. I begged them to take you too. Cole's father said he couldn't take all the children from our mother. He said it just wouldn't be right. He didn't have any idea what she would become. No one did,"

He's damn right about that one - No one could predict that bitch

"Are you sure daddy's really dead?" Maybe he's not, it seems as if people have started to pop up from dead now. So why can't he?

Elijah nods his head solemnly.

I kinda figured his response, but I thought I should try. I don't think it would matter if he was. My childhood has been demolished, and from the stories I've heard about him. I don't think he's the same kind-hearted devoted man I use to think he was.

I loosen my embrace on Elijah, laying my head lazily on his shoulder. I still have questions that I am dying to know, but afraid to find out.

"I wasn't ready to say goodbye," Elijah mumbles softly.
