《More Than You Realize》Chapter 22: You're One Of Us Now

I like to wonder sometimes. Probably not always the best thing, but it's a habit. My favorite time to wonder is at night. The stars shone down in the ground below me. It was the only light source besides the moon.
My feet crushed the grass below me. My mind went back to the moment when I killed the greenery around me when I lost control of myself. I flinched some at the thought.
'Do you think they care about you?'
"Leave me alone," I spoke out. "I don't know how you can still contact me. You're not even in my head."
'True, so very true. Don't forget, I'm still a part of you. I have the same powers you have.'
"You're annoying. I mean, really? Why do you continue to bother me? Just leave me alone! I'm getting sick of getting kidnapped almost everyday!" I yelled into the night. The trees only swayed in the wind.
'Sabre... dear Sabre. You do know this whole event is based around you. Why would we just leave you alone? You're telling villains to stop being villains. That's not how this works.'
"Sabre?"
My breathing hitched. 'This whole event is around me?'
'Face the facts, Sabre. Your so-called friends hate you. They're jealous of the power you contain. Do you really think your brother cares? He was just dying to kill you not too long ago. Suddenly, he wants to be your friend and protect you? How naïve are you?'
"SHUT UP!" I yelled clenching my fists tightly together.
"Sabre, calm down!"
'Sabre, you can't deny facts! Just join us already! We will appreciate what you can do. We aren't jealous of you power. Sabre Favre, you can join us!'
"No! I will never join you! Get out of my head!" I yelled clutching stray stands of hair tightly. I tugged on my hair. I didn't know if it was suppose to help, but it felt right.
"ELAN SABRE FAVRE!" I stopped tugging on my hair. I, slowly, let go of my hair. My body relaxed some as I turned to face the person who had called out to me.
Jake stood behind me. His eyes were wide and filled with shock.
"J-Jake? What's wrong?" I asked pretending to not know I just yelled to absolutely no one. He glared at me and put his hands on his hips.
"Really, Sabre? Don't play dumb with me. Who were you yelling at?" Jake asked-demanded. I tilted my head, still pretending to be confused.
"I wasn't yelling, Jake. Are you okay?" I asked with a fake smile. He growled.
"Elan..." Jake warned.
"Okay! Okay! I'll talk. Just don't call me Elan, okay? I go by Sabre," I said hugging myself. Jake sighed, but nodded his head.
"Okay, Sabre. Just tell me what's going on, dude?" he asked.
"I've just been hearing voices in my head. I think it's just paranoia. After everything that's been happening... I'm just scared of what's still going on with me," I said taking an interest in the ground.
'Great lie. He totally won't pick up on it.'

"Okay. Just know, we're here for you. We all care about you, especially me. I know you wouldn't lie to me," Jake said with a smile. 'Yeah... sure.'
"You can go back. I'm not tired. I'll come back when I feel like it, but you can go back and get some rest now, Jake," I said smiling at him. He nodded his head happily and began to make his way back to the house. I sighed once he was out of earshot.
'Wow... he couldn't even tell you were lying. He really does care about you, now, does he not? Face it Sabre. No matter how many times I tell you, facts will always be facts. They don't really care for you.'
"I'm not listening to you. I don't care if you randomly appear and beg me to join you, I won't do it!" I proclaimed strongly.
'Hmm... we can make arrangements for that.'
Before I could respond, I saw the silhouette of some person appearing before my eyes. I backed away out of fear, but I ran into something. More like someone.
I turned around quickly to face the evil figure, Ty. His smirk pierced through me. I felt so much fear in me right now.
"G-get away from me!" I yelled. I fell to the ground, but I still tried to get away from Ty as he neared. At the same time, I tired to keep my fair share of distance between me and Evil Sabre. I stopped where I was.
I ran my hands through my hair, and I closed my eyes. I didn't want to see the two evil figures in front of me. I grabbed my hair tightly, and began to pull once again.
"No! This isn't real. You two aren't really here!" I yelled in denial. Ty laughed evilly.
"On the contrary, Sabre, this is all to real," Ty taunted.
"NO!" I yelled directly afterwards. I felt a burst of energy course through me before it left my body. I heard some grunts, so I assumed the energy made contact with both of them.
"Nice energy, Sabre. Too bad your friends don't think of your new power the same way," Evil Sabre said as he bent down to my level. I snapped my eyes open, but he couldn't tell. My blindfold still covered my eyes from the world.
"Stop! You're trying to brainwash me!" I exclaimed closing my eyes once again. I curled myself into a little ball to hide myself even more. I felt a hand move some hair off of my hands.
"We're not trying to brainwash you. We simply want what's best for you. Your friends don't want you, Sabre. If you want to help them so badly, then come with us. Be out of their way," Ty spoke softly as he joined Evil Sabre next to me. I whimpered a little.
"Do we need to point out every fact about your friends?" Evil Sabre asked as he tried to take my hands away from my hair. My head was hurting, but I felt so much comfort inflicting this pain to myself.

"I think we should. Shall we begin?" Ty asked. I could hear the smirk in his voice.
"Let's," replied Evil Steve in the same time as Ty.
"They're jealous of your powers."
"They don't really care for you, now do they?"
"Void Steve tried to kill you multiple times. Alex and Mary barely associate with you unless you're with the others. Rainbow Steve still doesn't fully trust you, nor does Galaxy Steve. Jake... well, he still doesn't know the first things about being good. He still thinks lowly of you."
"Jake, your own brother, didn't notice the fakeness in your voice when you spoke to him a minute ago."
"They've never put much effort into helping you with your powers."
The list went on and on. I tried to block out the statements they were throwing around. However, I found myself letting them in. They tossed out the statements I knew were true.
He's your friend - HE'S YOUR ENEMY!
They care for you - THEY HATE YOU!
They want to help - THEY'RE JEALOUS OF YOU AND YOUR STRENGTH!
They trust you, and you trust them - THEY HAVE NO TRUST FOR YOU, SO WHY SHOULD YOU TRUST THEM?!
Jake and Void Steve are - HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT!! THEY COULD BE PLANNING ON YOUR DESTRUCTION!
The thoughts went on and on. It was honestly being in pain to my head. My fingers tighten themselves around my stray strands of hair. I pulled harder, trying so hard to stop these false statements.
"No! STOP THIS!" I yelled.
"Face the facts, Elan Sabre Favre. The truth is just something you have to face. You have two options, Sabre. Either, you join us. We will treat you with the respect you deserve, or you can continue to be beside the ones who've lied to you. Your choice, Sabre," Ty offered. My breathing quickened.
"STOP LYING TO ME!" I yelled. Ty grabbed my hands and forced them off of me. I opened my eyes, and I noticed I was actually crying. My vision was blurred from the water covering my eyes.
"Sabre, we're not lying to you. We want to help you. Evil Sabre is a part of you that faces the facts. He's "evil" because he knows the truth about these friends of yours. Come on, Sabre. Let us help you," Ty said calmly. I shouldn't find comfort in his voice, but I did. I didn't know why I felt this way, but it felt pretty good.
"I-I-I..." I stuttered nervously. His hands wrapped around my wrist, and he actually smiled at me. I felt something in me snap. These statements they threw into my head... they were all true. "Why is all of this true!"
I began to let tears fall from my eyes once again. I felt so helpless, and so pathetic. I felt tricked, betrayed even. How could I have been so stupid?!
"Shh..." Ty hushed gently. He pulled me closer to him as he began to rub my back soothingly. Am I dreaming? Why is Ty acting like this? I'm so confused! "We are here for you. Don't you worry about a thing."
I felt myself grow tired. Did he do something to me? I couldn't even keep my head up. It fell forward until it hit his shoulder. My body relaxed in his arms. It felt so wrong to give into my enemy like this, but I felt so much comfort right now.
I... I... want sleep.
Sabre never came back from his little night stroll. I was really worried when he wasn't in his room in the morning. I thought he might've just got lost. Maybe he just wants to be alone? He's is still trying to adapt to his new abilities.
"Is he back yet?" Galaxy Steve asked worryingly as he walked up next to me. I sighed sadly and shook my head.
"No, and I'm beginning to worry," I said looking around the grass plain. I was hoping to see Sabre walk over some hill, or around a tree, any minute now. Sadly, that never came.
"I don't know why he would just leave like that. Did we do something wrong?" Galaxy Steve asked worryingly. I shrugged my shoulders, not entirely sure how to answer.
"I don't think so... at least, not to my knowledge," I said. Galaxy Steve let out a sigh.
"Okay... let me know if you see anything... or hear anything," Galaxy Steve said before walking back inside.
I felt weird. Something isn't right. Sabre wouldn't leave without an explanation. Maybe I shouldn't have left him alone last night... Maybe I'm the reason he left. Could that be it? Does he not want me here?
"Jake... I don't think he's coming back any time soon," I heard Rainbow Steve say as he walked behind me. I jumped a little, not expecting anyone to sneak up on my like that.
"I'm still watching though," I explained keeping my eyes fixed on the ground ahead of me. I only heard Rainbow Steve's footsteps as he walked away.
Rainbow Steve is concerned, no doubt about that. He would never say Sabre's not coming back if something wasn't wrong. Maybe he has the same feeling I have.
I can't seem to pinpoint what this "problem" is. I just have a feeling there is a problem. Then again, maybe it's nothing, and I'm just worried. UGH! I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO THINK!
I haven't eaten, nor have I even stepped back inside for some coolness. Everyone has come out at least once already, each saying he's not coming back soon. Anything new? Any ideas? Void Steve and I had a small talk about who we use to be, and how Sabre has really helped us.
The conversation got awkward after a while, so Void Steve went back inside.
Maybe I should just go back in and wait. If Sabre wants to come back, he can on his own accord. I can't sit out here all day waiting on him. I care for him, yes, but I have to do what I need to do as well. I just hope Sabre comes back soon...
