《More Than You Realize》Chapter 21: Truth Be Told

'I have markings that represent my powers? That's the most craziest thing I've heard today!' I thought with a slight laugh. Apparently, my laugh was not in my head.
"We're not joking, Sabre. Go look in the water," Rainbow Steve demanded as he pointed to a nearby pond. I laughed once again and began making my way over to the water.
"Come on, guys. It was a funny joke, but-" I began before I reached the moving water. I stopped my sentence there, and it was never finished.
Void Steve said as he appeared next to me. I didn't look up to him.
My mouth was dropped open, and my eyes were wide in shock, but no one could see my freakish eyes. My breathing got heavy. My hand made its way to my heart to make sure it was still beating. Even though I knew it was, my hand wouldn't leave. I guess I feared it would stop all of a sudden.
"Sabre? Are you okay?" Jake asked as he kneeled next to me. I snapped away from my freaking out thoughts and faced my older brother.
"Am I okay? AM I OKAY?! NO I'M NOT OKAY! Th-these markings... what d-do they m-m-mean!" I exclaimed while shaking Jake for dear life.
"Okay, Sabre. Just calm down, okay? We can figure this out," Alex said.
"WHAT DOES IT MEAN!" I yelled once again, ignoring my thinking friends. Suddenly, my body was coated in fire. It didn't burn, but my mind was racing everywhere. "I'M ON FIRE!"
I began to run around to get the fire off of me, but I failed. The others tried to call me down, but I was too panicked to do anything.
"Sabre! Calm down, dude!" Alex yelled as he tried to hold me in place with his staff. I teleported away before he could. Not what I meant to do... actually, I didn't mean to do anything.
"Teleportation? That's random..." Rainbow Steve mumbled loudly.
"I didn't mean to do that! I didn't mean to do anything! What is happening to me!" I yelled frightfully.
Void Steve exclaimed. I decided to calm down from my panicked state and looked at Void Steve.
"Wh-what... what do you have?" I asked.
Void Steve explained as he examined the fire still burning around me. I blinked a little bit, then looked to my burning body.
"So... this is just my powers not being compatible with my body? I mean, I've had my powers all my life. My body adapted to my normal powers, and it's not use to the extra," I concluded. Void Steve nodded his head in agreement.
"Well, that makes sense. Any new powers?" Galaxy Steve asked. I shrugged my shoulders.
"If so, I'm not aware of them. I don't know if I wanna test it out either," I said rubbing my arm. Jake put his hand on my shoulder to try and comfort me once again. I smiled at him. "Thank you, Jake."
"Anytime, Sabre. I will always be here for you. I'm just sorry I wasn't here to help sooner," Jake said sadly. I laughed a little.
"Jake... you're fine. If I'd known who you were, I would've helped a long time ago as well," I said softly.

Void Steve said. I couldn't help but laugh at him.
"Okay, Void Steve. We'll save the bonding for later," I said still laughing. Jake looked a little upset.
"But I probably need to leave. After everything that's happened, you guys probably don't want me here. Besides, my own powers are made for evil. Who knows what will happen if I lose control," he explained sadly. I blinked a few times, as did the rest of the group. Then, as if we were cued, we all began laughing, except Jake. "Huh?"
"Really, dude? Have you not seen our group? Void Steve, the guy who's tried to kill me many times before is with us. Heck, the rest of you don't know this, but Rainbow Steve and I use to be enemies," I said with a laugh. Everyone else, except me and Rainbow Steve, stopped laughing.
"Really?" Galaxy Steve asked snapping his head between the two of us in shock. I nodded my head.
"Wait... we never told you?" Rainbow Steve laughed raising an eyebrow at Galaxy Steve. He shook his head. "Oh, yeah. When Sabre first came to this world, I was one of the few Steve's created while he was here. He found out the truth about how a main part of me wanted more power to rule the world. He set out to stop me... multiple times. Heck, it took a very long time before we became friends."
"Rainbow Steve has been put together, taken apart, put back together, separated into two for two other Steve's he basically merged with, was put back together... ya know, it's a long story," I said waving my hand. I was basically saying, "Never mind."
Void Steve said as he pointed between us.
"Yeah, you two are so close. Rainbow Steve even passed out when he found out what happened to you... after you had your powers taken and that... stuff," Mary said slowly down at the end. She was afraid to mention what Jake did as Slade.
"Yeah, there's no way you two use to fight," Alex proclaimed while crossing his arms. It was hard for him to do so since he never let go of his staff.
"Still..." Jake said going back to the previous conversation that started the new one. "This group has bonded... and none of you as done what I've done."
Should I say what I've done in the past? My weird adventures in Daycare? My life as an assassin? My time being some sort of superhero? Should I, or would it freak them out too much. They do kinda need to know...
"Is it story time? Because I have a few things to share with you guys," I said somewhat nervously. I didn't know how they would react to everything that's actually happened in my life time.
"STORY TIME!" Galaxy Steve exclaimed happily. Void Steve sighed.
he said sadly. You could tell he wasn't proud of the way he went about his actions in the past. Rainbow Steve's eyes went wide.
"You're going to tell them that?" he asked suspiciously. Void Steve nodded before nodding his head towards me. I laughed.
"Okay, everyone. Sit. This is going to be a long story. This is basically my entire life after my memories were altered when... well, when my mom died," I warned.

"Oh no..." Rainbow Steve mumbled as he sat down. I laughed as the other sat in a circle. All eyes landed on me.
"Okay... what I can remember, after the explosion when "Slade" and Void Steve attacked when I was younger, I woke up in a daycare. I was about 4-5 at the time, so it was about the time people start daycare. Anyways, this definitely was no ordinary daycare. The director had no control, and the person working the front desk, Thomas, was a lunatic at times. This daycare also had a machine that we used daily. It was a teleporter. It would take you wherever you wanted to go! Trust me... I've been to my fair share of places, and I've seen things I would rather forget," I began with a laugh. The others laughed as well.
"How long did you go there?" Mary asked.
"Quite a while. I can't remember the time I spent there that well. I was really young, and I had a lot on my mind after I left the daycare," I said sadly. This was the worst thing I've ever done in my life, and it was for the majority of it.
"What's wrong, Sabre?" Jake asked worryingly. I smiled a little.
"Nothing. Just a warning. This next part in my life is a time I really regret," I warned.
Void Steve pushed.
"Well, it was the weekend. The previous day was my last day at the daycare, but I didn't know at the time. My dad and I always went to the market on the weekends. We lived in a town run by somethings called Templar Guards. The leaders were never really there. Real quick, Rainbow Steve. You remember Lucas, right?" I asked interrupting my own story.
"Yep! What about him?" he asked.
"Lucas was a high ranked Templar Guard. He stayed in the town more often than not," I said. My face grew dull, and my expression went to being extremely upset. "I mean, they weren't my real parents, but I'm still upset over this. The Templar Guards killed my "father."
I put air quotes when I said father. He wasn't my actual father; I now know.
"Wait... so Lucas basically took part in this father figure of your's being killed!" Rainbow Steve exclaimed. I nodded my head.
"I didn't take it very kindly, as you can imagine. I mean, I thought he was actually my father, and the last words I said to him were, "I hate you." So, for him to be killed right there, scarred me as a child. Even after that, I ran home. The Templar Guards wanted to capture me because of my dad. I came home to a burning house and no "mom." That event changed me. You won't believe what I became after that," I said. This wasn't something I was very proud of.
"Come on, Sabre. We won't think any differently," Galaxy Steve begged as I built up the courage to tell them.
"I meet a guy who I called Shadow. We showed me a few things... but my past till drove me to becoming... an assassin," I said bringing my knees to my chest. Everyone of them flinched.
"AASSI!" they all yelled in shock. I nodded my head.
"Yeah... my goal was to destroy all of the Templar Guards... and one of my biggest enemies was Lucas," I explained. Rainbow Steve just stared and blinked a few more times.
"So you two tried to kill each other... multiple times," he asked. I nodded.
"He actually did die. How he was revived, I don't know. However, we became closer friends leading up to his death. That was when I found out the truth about his plans and everything like that," I said. Rainbow Steve tilted his head. "He was a spy in the Templar Guards. His mission was to protect me, but he was always around loyal guards. He couldn't help me all the time, but my "dad" and him were pretty good friends. Both for the brotherhood."
"Well, I see you're not an assassin anymore," Alex said with a slight laugh. I laughed as well.
"Correct. That's a long story in itself. However, when I stopped being an assassin, I went back to school. I needed a change in my life. Now that I think back to it, I think that's when my powers came in. I basically became a superhero. I became The Flash. I was able to run extremely fast. I used this to save the city I was in from the likes of evil," I explain shortly. My main thing was me being an assassin. I turned to Jake and began laughing. "See? I wasn't the best person before who I am now."
"Yeah... I still feel bad about everything I did," he said.
"Yep, and I feel bad almost killing the guy that held every answer to my life. However, we moved on. Jake, you're my brother. I'm not letting you go any time soon," I said placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Thank you, Sabre," he said pulling me into a hug.
Void Steve requested. He laughed, but nodded our heads.
"So... why did you chase after Galaxy Steve all of this time?" Mary asked intriguingly. Void Steve sighed.
he warned before looking over to Galaxy Steve.
Silence lingered around our small group. Void Steve shifted his position to be more comfortable. Galaxy Steve looked dazed; you know, eyes wide and mouth hanging down low.
"Honestly... that explains why your guys' powers are about the same. It would only make since that you were either brothers, or the same person," I concluded. Everything did begin to come together... somewhat. "I only ask one thing... why try to destroy him? Would that not make you incomplete?"
Void Steve said. I narrowed my eyes at him, making him flinch.
"Probably. Wow... wait so I split myself once, making Void Steve. Why did I split again?" Galaxy Steve asked rubbing his head.
Void Steve said.
"That makes sense," Rainbow Steve said.
"Why were you evil, though?" Galaxy Steve asked before looking at himself. "I'm not evil, am I?!"
Void Steve claimed.
"Protective much?" Alex laughed. Void Steve glared at him.
