《More Than You Realize》Chapter 7: What's Real Life Anymore?

'Where am I? I don't remember being here?' I thought as I opened my eyes. It was kind of dark.
I could hear my breathing, like it was someone else breathing right next to me. I concluded it was me when I didn't see anyone there.
"Hello?" I called out. Maybe someone was there, even though I couldn't see them. "Is anyone there?"
There was silence. I tried sitting up, but my body was too weak. I inhaled deeply before forcing my aching body to sit up.
Slowly, I was able to stand on my own two feet. I looked around, still seeing nothing but black.
There's no way I can be here. I was standing in an open field with Galaxy, Rainbow, and Void Steve. The ground around me was dying, then I, suddenly, blacked out. Now, I'm here.
"PLEASE! SOMEONE ANSWER ME!" I yelled out desperately. I began to panic. My heart was racing, and my mind was racing all over the place.
"Sabre~" a soft and gentle voice whispered to me. I flinched.
It sounded like a woman's voice. I looked around for the voice, but I didn't see anyone there. I could hear my breathing once again.
"W-who's there?" I asked into the darkness.
Suddenly, I was blinded by a light invading the darkness. I had to cover my eyes, so I could still see with them. I would hate to go blind right now.
I didn't really know where I was, yet it looked very familiar. I looked around my surrounding, taking in every little detail.
I was in, what looked like, an open field. However, everything was white, except the ground. There was no Sun, no clouds, no blue sky. Nothing. The ground looked like normal; green grass, flowers, trees, a woman... a woman?
I looked over to a woman just standing there. She stared at me with a soft smile. She had beautiful emerald green eyes, and long, thin brown hair.
I walked over to her, very slowly. She looked trustworthy, but I didn't want to assume anything.
"Hello? Who are you?" I asked as I reached her.
"Hello, Sabre. Now, how can you not remember me?" she asked, obviously not going to tell me who she was. That, somewhat, irked me.
"Um... you don't look like anyone I know, ma'am," I said politely. She laughed, making me jump a little.
"Oh, dear Sabre. My son. Oh, how you've grown! Such a polite young man!" she exclaimed happily. 'Son? MOM?!'
"M-mom?" I stuttered. I felt tears pricked my eyes. The salty water wasted no time before running down my cheeks.

"Of course, honey. Where is your bandana?" she questioned, that happy smile leaving her face. I frowned myself, yet a little bit of happiness and sadness stayed with me.
"Void Steve. Before he remembered who I was, he took off my bandana. I still have it, but it's a little torn. I just haven't had time to put it back on. Heck... I've been mind controlled, training, and trying to survive," I explained. She smiled a little.
"Being busy... I see. Sabre, you've grown into a fine young man. I'm sorry I couldn't be there to watch it, though," she said sadly. I smiled happily, then a rage boiled inside of me.
"It's all Slade's fault. If he hadn't had killed you, you would still be here! If he wasn't so insane, you would've seen me grow! BUT NO! HE HAD TO RUIN IT ALL!" I yelled. I flailed my arms around, trying to get my point across.
My mom grabbed my wrists, and held me there. I stopped yelling and throwing my arms around. All she did was smile at me.
"Hush, now. Don't make a fuss. Sabre... yes, Slade is to blame for this. However, if you keep ahold of that thought, you will lose control of yourself, and bad things will happen," my mom said gently. I took in a deep breath, then let it out.
She was right. If I make my goal to destroy Slade for what he has done, I will be no better than him. I'll lose control, and make it a possibility to hurt those I care about.
Rainbow Steve is my best friend. He's been there for a long time. Galaxy Steve is an amazing friend, who can be very useful at times. Void Steve... well, he's redeeming himself at the moment. He's not that bad of a guy.
"Mom... you're right, like you always would've been. If I focus on destroying Slade for what he did, I'll end up hurting someone I care about," I said. She let go of my wrists, and gave me a warming smile. Suddenly, a few tears rolled down her pale cheeks.
"Sabre... even without parents, you've managed to mature perfectly. You've become a fine young man who puts others before himself. I'm so proud," she said before stroking my cheek lightly.
I opened my mouth to speak, but the world began crumbling around us. I flinched away a little bit, looking as the sky was collapsing. I looked to my mom, hoping she would know what was happening. She frowned.
"You're waking up..." she said sadly. No... I don't want to wake up yet. I still have so much I need to talk about!

"What-NO! I still want to talk to you! I haven't seen you in forever, MOM!" I yelled. She looked like she wanted to respond to me, but she wasn't able to. The white sky crumbled on top of her, making her disappear into thin air.
I ran to the rubble. I began digging, hoping to find my mom, laying there with a smile and waiting for me.
I dug until I reached the grass where my mom once stood. I felt my tears stream down my face. I still wanted to talk to my mom. I had so much to tell her, to ask her! She can't leave me again!
My body went weak once again. I stopped digging, and just laid in the rubble that use to be the sky. More of the sky crumbled around me. I closed my eyes, and braces for impact as some of the pure white sky completely fell on top of me.
I sat up with a jolt. Sweat coated my body and the bed I was laying on. I looked around some. I didn't recognize the room I was in, yet it had a calming vibe.
I stood up from the bed, squirming uncomfortably in my wet clothes. Where's my chicken onesie when I need it? I hated being in these wet clothes already.
Void Steve asked. I looked over to him. He had just entered the room with a wet wash rag. Those exist in Minecraft? How come I didn't know about it!
He sounded relieved. I couldn't help but raise a confused eyebrow.
"Not to sound rude or anything, but why do you sound so relieved?" I questioned. He flinched a little. I really hoped he didn't think I was mean.
Void Steve asked. He walked up to me, and forced me back down on the bed. I struggled against him. I'm not weak; I can stand just fine.
"No, but I'm fine. I can stand perfectly fine. I don't need to lay down!" I argued. He stared at me for a moment.
Void Steve said somewhat slowly. My heart puttered to a stop. Time froze around me.
'Two weeks? I was only talking with my mom for, like, two minutes! Why was I out that long?!' I thought. I didn't resist at all as Void Steve laid me down on the bed.
He covered my body with the covers, and put the wash rag across my forehead. It was soothing. It felt like I could sleep, and relax like a baby.
Void Steve exclaimed facing the door he had entered earlier. It took a minute or so, but both Steve's entered the room in a hurry.
"Sabre!" Galaxy Steve exclaimed. I didn't really know what I was suppose to say, so I just stared. "Sabre? Are you okay?"
I shook my head.
"N-no... How was I out that long? It didn't feel like it was that long..." I trailed. Galaxy Steve looked off to the side.
"We don't know. All we know is that, things started dying around you. You freaked out, and just passed out. You haven't woke up since then... well, now," Rainbow Steve explained.
"What happened while you were out? Did you see anything; you make it sound like you experienced something," Galaxy Steve asked. All three pairs of eyes were on me.
I felt the tears form in my eyes. My heart was pounding so hard, it was hurting.
"I... I was talking with... w-with," I couldn't say much. I broke into sobs. I brought my hands up to my eyes. I just now noticed that my bandana was tied back around my eyes. 'How? I thought Galaxy and Rainbow Steve got rid of it?'
"Sabre... what happened?" Rainbow Steve asked.
"I was... t-talking with my... m-m-m-mom," I choked out.
It was silence. Not a single one of them spoke. Void Steve didn't look very happy, though. He looked upset... and mad?! He didn't take long to leave the room.
We all watched him as he walked out. Galaxy and Rainbow Steve stared at the door for quite a while after he left.
"Why did he leave-OH!" Rainbow Steve said, turning back to me once he realized why he left. "That's right... he was there when Slade killed your mom."
I just nodded. He was spot on.
'Void Steve has really changed...' I thought, thinking back to previous times when Void Steve has become more an ally than a foe. 'He's helped me with my powers, and he's actually been a kind person-uh-Steve.'
I felt my eyelids close once again. I had, suddenly, become really tired. I wasn't able to stay awake any longer than I already had. The dark abyss had fully embraced me.
'What is burning?'
'Slade! He's here! No, he's a got a grip on me! Wait... this is a dream? Ha! He can't do anything.'
