Silver's POV
"I said you're hired mio caro (my darling). As my personal assistant." Mr. Winthrope repeated as he grinned and looked at me with his stunning blue eyes.
I had to admit. Ethan Winthrope was a lot younger than I had anticipated. And a lot more attractive! He had jet black hair that fell to his brow in an unruly manner. A chiseled facial structure that seemed to be carved from stone. He had a muscular body build even though the most physical thing he probably even had to do was lift a pen. But he could even hire someone for that! He had a gorgeous set of blue eyes that reminded me of Aiddan's so much.
I was jerked out of my thoughts as his words finally sank in. "What? Why? How?" I stumbled over my words in utter confusion. Personal assistant? I thought I applied for a Secretarial position?
"Yes. Now your pay will start at $18.72 per hour but it will rise with salary raises and bonuses. But you also have several benefits on top of this. You will get a car supplied by the company. This can be used for both personal and company business. You will also be given a floor in one of the many hotels we own but since you're my Personal Assistant you will be given a Penthouse close to the company. The keys will be given to you on Friday which is the first day you will be required to start. Then you will get this weekend off to move in. If you need any help just call me and I will come and help you. On top of all this you will be given $15,000 to put into a bank account and use as needed. That money shall be yours whether or not you stay with us." As he finished I just stared at him in shock.

"Say what?" I ask, suddenly panicking. Why that much stuff? That is A LOT of stuff to be given for such a simple job.
As he chuckled he leaned forward so his elbows were resting on his desk. "I know. It may seem like a lot but believe me. You will work it off in the long run. I am very stubborn."
"How so?" I demanded suddenly gaining confidence.
Raising his eyebrow he replied, "Let's see. I am very punctual. I despise useless excuses. We will be doing a lot of traveling to go to meetings. My temper is a small problem with why I need a new Personal Assistant. And whenever I want something" he smiled and smirked at me as he slowly looked me up and down before finishing with, "I always get it."
I was about to tell him off when my ringtone suddenly pierced the air, startling both of us. Hurriedly I yank my phone from my pocket and quickly answer it when I see that it is Ashton.
"Ashton. I am in the middle of an interview. I cannot talk right now." I exclaimed, trying to end the conversation. His next words made me go cold.
"Aiddan is in the hospital."

The entire novel's philosophical proposal is about finding meaning in a nihilistic world.
