Chapter Sixteen ▪︎ The King's Queen

Narrator

He felt betrayed and furious. Thanatos was completely blinded by rage. He could not believe a lycan would take his one and only mate. There was one thing both Alexander and Thanatos agreed upon; Dahlia was theirs to have, not somebody else's.

They searched the woods time and time again. He had dozens of vampires looking for her, including Lady. She was the best at finding things, possibly better than him. Especially when his mind was clouded by rage.

He caught a few whiffs of her scent but it was pieces of her clothing convieniently placed in random spots as a fake trail.

He should have killed all those bastards the first time they took a woman unwillingly.

Stupid lycans. They can't take no for an answer, can they?

Dahlia woke up and her mind was groggy. She felt incredibly hungry, she was craving meat. Lots of it. Raw, deer meat.

She was drooling just at the thought of it.

Armie walked in the room, now being able to feel certain things about his newfound 'mate'.

"Are you hungry?" He asked, even though he knew the answer and was already carrying the meat on a platter.

She looked at the meat with wide hungry eyes. Her hands were uncuffed and she got out of bed, grabbing the meat and biting it, thus tearing a chunk of it off. She moaned at the odd flavour. She had never tasted something like this, even though it's exactly what she was craving.

"Where could she be?" Lady thought in frustration. She didn't like the idea of failing a simple task.

I'll think of it as Hide and Seek, she thought She Imagined a map of the area. Where would she take her if she were a lycan?

To my home, Lady answered her own question.

And where would your home be if you were a lycan?

Somewhere that has easy access to the town, the lake and a hunting area.

A hunting area.

Lady connected the dots and followed the scent of dead deer. Soon after, she found a small clearing where there were many corpses - one of which was a freshly killed deer, or bits of it that were unedible.

"Bring me a map of the area." Lady commanded the warriors that followed her.

"I'll be right back." One of the high ranking generals answered. He wanted to get a promotion so he was doing everything himself. He was craving to meet the King and maybe even take his place.

He came back in a flash and in his hand was a map. Not any map made of paper, but a high tech map that could locate your exact position and show you the whole world in a second.

Lady searched for the area she was in and connected the important places a lycan would need to visit to survive. It formed an odd circle and in the middle of it was one of the old treehouses in the woods. An old abandoned one, perfect for a hideout.

Dahlia wasn't faring well. The blood she drank was everything she could think about and he refused to give her any more. She was like an addict chained to a wall, staring at the opium with no way of getting to it.

She felt a cold shiver snake its way up her spine at the thought of never feeling the blood in her system again.

"Please, I need mor-" she pleaded but he cut her off immidiately.

"No. It's already done too much." He snapped. He was nervous. Humans never got addicted to his blood. In fact, they hated it. They said the flavour was horrid.

Even though his intelectual abilities were limited, he knew something was wrong. This should not be happening. He was scared of what might happen if he gave her the blood, but he was just as scared of what might happen if he doesn't.

During all his thoughtful pacing, Dahlia got an idea.

Why should she ask him for something, when she could just take it?

If you couldn't tell, her abilities have also limitied themselves - maybe because all she could think of was a certain liquid but maybe the liquid is the reason.

What human would think of taking out a lycan?

Maybe it's her father's words engraved in her head that made her think twice about killing him.

'If it isn't human, it's not supposed to exist.'

'Kill or be killed.'

'You'll become one of us or I'll kill you myself.'

'If you don't kill them, they'll kill someone you love. Think of your brother every time you see one of them.'

She isn't going to forget the one rule she made for herself.
