Chapter Eleven ▪︎

y birthday was coming closer. Just one more month.

One more month of freedom before an eternity of pain and misery.

He will turn me into a vampire like all other vampires do to their mates. I will be a porcelain doll to show around to people from his kingdom. I will be a Queen without any power.

And I thought my life was bad before.

I cleaned up another table, carried the empty beer bottles to the bar and Skylar put them on the ground.

"I need 3 more beers and 2 votka-juices. Slip in some of this in the votkas." I added her a packet of white powder. She simply nodded as this was our usual exchange every day.

I figured out every vampire guard that Alexander has sent out to me to keep me 'safe' and have been putting haluucinogens in their drinks.

"It never gets old." I sigh.

"True. The whole place can hear them screaming." She laughed. I laughed along with her.

I took the drinks and gave them to the customers. This time the guy did something unexpected.

He pinched me.

"What the fuck?" I looked at him.

"I bet you go for some nice money. How much? I have plenty." He smirked.

I guess this isn't his guard.

Oh darn, I guess today is going to be a boring day after all.

Not to brag, but I do have a nifty sense of humour, though I usually kept it strictly between the employees and not the customers. We like to prank each other.

I'm dying in a couple of weeks, so why not have some fun? I sweetly smiled at this old hag after I handed them their drinks and told him to ask for the girls who were there waiting for someone to 'rent' them. I turned around and walked to the table of usual customers that ordered the beer.

It's not surprising that they always ask for it to be opened in front of them.

"Is he the next victim?" Joyce asked.

"He and his friend." I replied to her. "Anything else?"

"Some coke would be nice." Leo spoke as he came up from behind me and put his hand around my shoulders. It was awkward because I was about quite the bit taller than him in my work heels.

I subtly put his hand down and walked around to the other side of the table.

"Aything else - something legal, preferably?"

"A coke - the drink, not the dru-" He was cut off by loud screams coming from the toilets. A strange thing was that they were both coming from the female bathroom.

I guess none of them cared about which bathroom they use.

The tavern quieted down and the regulars chuckled quietly. Soon after, the new customers, both vampire and human, laughed along to the ludacris things the two spoke.

In public, the normal vampires and the normal people get along very well. But the Hunters don't. They ruin fucking everything.

I don't even know why we exist. I'm kind of grateful that my dad is dead because if he wasn't, I would be a hunter. It's our family heritage and my brother and I are the heirs. Though we would have to be good little soldiers, we would still be together and it is the only reason why I hadn't killed my father myself.

The biggest problem of being mated to Alexander is his loyalty to his people. He would be dumb to put the daughter of one of the biggest hunter families as Queen, even though I'm not fully trained and an official hunter.

I know he knows something. No normal human can escape from a newborn vampire, at least not successfully. Let's hope he doesn't dig too far or else he will find out things he pronably doesn't want to know.
