Erica's POV

A few hours later…

"It's good to see you're awake," the doctor says.

"How's my baby?" I ask. That's my only concern right now.

"It's fine," I sigh in relief, " but I suggest you get maximum rest for the next few days, alright?" I nod my head.

"Did you tell the man I was with?" I ask.

The doctor shakes his head, "not yet. Would you like me to tell him?" He asks.

"No please, I want to deliver the news myself."

"Alright then, go back to sleep. You'll be discharged this evening."

"Great!"

I wake up to find Joe already staring at me. I smile up at him and he smiles back.

"What are you thinking?" I ask him softly.

"About how I almost lost you again," he whispers.

"But I'm here now."

He sighs.

"Yeah, you are."

"And no one is going to separate us again."

"I hope so, too."

"Are you trying to say you dated more psycho women?"

He laughs and shakes his head. "I don't think so."

"Great. Because I didn't date many men, either. And u doubt the ones I dated are psychopaths."

"Come on. Let's get you ready to leave. Plus, if you still want the wedding, it's in two days."

"I definitely want it."

Two days later…

I walk down the isle with my mother holding my hand. I walk ever so slowly with gentleness. I lift my eyes and look around at all the happy faces.

I smile at my friends from college. I continue looking around until I land on the very captivating ocean blue eyes at the end.

Joe looks even more handsome in a tux. But I think he looks much more handsome without one. If you know what I mean.

He holds my gaze until we walk up to him. My mother holds both our hands and unites them.

"You better keep my daughter safe and happy, you hear me young man?"

"Yes, I will."

"Good." She walks away to her seat.

I look up at Joe and smile at him. He smiles back and we both turn towards the priest. We kneel in front of the makeshift altar.

Joe decided he didn't want a church wedding. So, Moana had to find a space to put it. And she chose the beach. Great choice, really.

"We have gathered here today to witness the union of our beloved …" I zone out.

I cannot believe I'm getting married to the man I have cried over for the last nine years. God can answer prayers, that's for sure. I remember back to everything we went through.

From when we first met on the street, to school, to the beach house. All up to here. From everyone that tried to come in between, Riana, Denise, Jaime and Drake. And the best part, we went through it together.

"Do you, Joe Frost, take Erica Jefferson as your lovely wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer and for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part." The priest asks.

He turns to me. "I most definitely do."

"And do you, Erica Jefferson, take Joe Frost as your lovely wedded wife, to have and to hold from this..."

"I do!" I cut the priest short, making everyone laugh.

"Do you have your vows?" He asks.

"Yes, in fact we do," Joe says.

He takes in a breath. "I have to catch my breath to believe this is real," he chuckles, along with other people, "that I'm marrying my true love and my heart's desire." He takes a breath. "Love is give or take.

I give all my love to you and receive so much love in return. Gershwin wrote that it’s very clear, our love is here to stay - not for a year, but ever and a day. The radio and the telephone and the movies that we know may just be passing fancies and in time may go… but oh my dear, our love is here to stay - together we're going a long long way.

In time the Rockies may crumble and Gibraltar may tumble - they're only made of clay but, I vow, our love is here to stay. I love you, Erica Jefferson." He slips the golden band onto my ring finger.

I'm all of a sudden conscious of my vows. Joe's vows are so good I can't believe I didn't come up with better.

"I promise to respect, admire and appreciate you for who you are, as well as for the person you wish to become," I start. "I promise to support and protect your freedom, because although our lives are intertwined, your choices are still yours alone.

I promise to seek a deep understanding of your wishes, your desires, your fears, and your dreams.

I promise to always strive to meet your needs, not out of obligation, but because it delights me to see you happy.

I promise to be there for you when you need me, whenever you need me.

I promise to nurture your goals and ambitions; to support you through misfortune, and to celebrate your triumphs.

I promise to keep our lives exciting, adventurous, and full of passion.

I promise to persevere when times get tough, knowing that any challenges we might face, we will conquer them together.

I promise to treat you with compassion rather than fairness, because we are a team, now and for always.

I promise to show you, every day, that I know exactly how lucky I am to have you in my life. I love you, Joe Frost." I slip the ring onto his finger.

"Wow, that was touching!" The priest says. "Without further ado, I now announce husband and wife. You may or may not kiss the bride."

Joe walks closer to me and whispers, Let's give 'em a show!"

He captures me in a sweet sensual kiss. The hollers and some whistle. When he pulls back, he leaves me begging for more. But right now, I can't get more. I'll have to wait.

At the reception, he and I take the first dance. We waltz around the floor and we're then joined by other couples.

Versace on the floor starts playing through the speakers. Joe chuckles and bends to give me a kiss on the cheek.

"I don't know how the DJ read my mind, but I definitely want to tear this gown off you." He whispers.

My poor heart flatters at his tone. "Slow down, cowboy. We shouldn't keep our guests waiting."

"Why not?" He raises a brow. "I'm sure Moana will take care of it. Please, baby, I've wanted to fuck you ever since I saw you walk down that isle."

I smile at him. "Alright. But first, I have to tell you something."

"What is it?" He creases his brow.

"There's a bun in the oven."

"There's a bun in the oven? What does that mean?" He asks, totally oblivious.

"Find out what it means first, then we can go to our room."

"But…" I walk away.

I go and throw the flower bouquet and Moana catches it. I laugh along with the other girls. Moana rolls her eyes. Before I can talk to her, a very happy looking Joe comes rushing to me and embraces me in a hug.

"You're pregnant?" He asks.

"Yes. We're three weeks along." He hugs me again.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"I wanted it to be a surprise."

"That's the best surprise I've ever received. Hey, listen everybody," he yells, "I'm going to be a father soon."

People start clapping.

"Did you really have to do that?" I ask, a little embarrassed.

"Are you kidding? Of course, I had to. I can't believe I'm going to be a father. Thank you, Erie. I love you so much, my love."

"I love you, too, Joe." He kisses.

Right here, in my husband's arms is where I'd rather be. If I had to do everything and do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing.

Because my choices, led me to him. The man who has become my everything. The man I love with everything in me. I love him so very much.

I hope you all find your true loves, your ever afters because only then, will you understand the joy I feel right now.

True love exists. You just have to find the right person. And remember. No one is perfect. You just have to shape your lover into the man or woman you want.
