《Starting Over In Sin City》Chapter Seventeen

What a shit show
I thought as I rode my bike down the private road to my house, happy to finally be home and see Hailey. She's gonna be pissed I know but by the time shit settled it was too late to call, I just figured I'd be back this morning before she got up for the charity ride.
I fucked up by not calling. I know this will dig at the back of her mind, like every other woman who's man doesn't come home, she will wonder if I slept with someone else.
Fuck
I had been out on a run with Ghost, Duck and my dads charter, so it shouldn't have been a surprise to me that shit went sideways since my old man was involved. But it had to be done, last nights run effects today's ride. Which of course, being that it's for the children's hospital, we get a police escorted transportation of the guns we are carrying in our bedrolls. Which is the real reason for this run, a cover for what we're really doing, while we also help kids.
I don't see Haileys Jeep when we roll up.
"Pop?" I call to my dad before he walks into the house.
The look on his face said it all, he already knew what I was going to say.
"Take it easy on Hailey, I mean it, and it's fuckin enough with Roxie man. What is your angle here old man?" I ask my dad, who's been in my ear about Hailey for the last 24 hours, about how I shouldn't settle down.
It's bad for the club. An old lady can break a club and she knows nothing of this life. He also doesn't think I can give up all the women, which is why he keeps tossing Roxie at me, hoping she'll stick one of these times.

"To keep your head where it needs to be Pres, On the club and business. You can get pussy from anyone here son, you don't need an old lady"
"Be fuckin nice" I growled
"Don't forget who you're talking to boy" my father stepped to me and I stiffened up "I'll be nice to her but you think about what I said" he said through clenched teeth as he pointed his worn finger at my chest.
Lana has already come out the door but I didn't see Hailey, she must still be asleep. "Lana, is Hailey still asleep?" I called over to her where she was.
When she looked at me I already knew by the look in her eyes that Hailey ran.
"Where the fuck is she?" I growled when I was in front of her and Ghost so no one else could hear me.
I don't need this shit right now
"Hey!" Ghost yelled at me "back off Cole, it isn't Lana's fault" his green eyes grew dark in warning to me.
Lana looked scared as she looked between Ghost and me "I'm sorry Cole, I tried to stop her but she just got scared and worked up about some things. She was upset you didn't come home and didn't call"
Fuck
"Lana you know that it's not unusual to not come home, you couldn't have told her that?" I ask her in a condescending tone.
"It wasn't just that Cole, meeting your dad today and..." She dropped her eyes from me.
"And there it is...what? What's the real reason?" My voice softened a little.
She looked at Ghost for a couple seconds "Roxie" she answered.
I clenched my teeth so hard I heard my teeth squeak.
"Where?" I growled low and deep at her trying to keep my cool.
With her eyes castdown she answered "My place"

"Meeting in 5 minutes Ghost, only our charter, leave my old man out of this, I can already hear him running his mouth. Find.me.Drew" I spoke his name through my clench jaw. Ghost knows what to do.
"Cole, it's not Drew-
"Stay out of it baby" Ghost cuts Lana off
"Let's go tell the club about the meeting, then I'll find him" Ghost told Lana already leading her away.
I can't chase her, that'll just scare her into running more. I don't think she will actually go to Lana's, that's too easy for me to find her. So, maybe a casino? No. She wouldn't be that dumb to get caught on cameras, no matter how mad she is. So where would-
The Cabin
Jesus! No! She's not thinking straight, She's not thinking that the last spot she was seen on camera was right where she was heading. I have no choice but to go after her now.
Drew came walking over with his head hung low, like the piece of fuckin' shit he is.
"Boss, I'm-I'm so sorry. She's a slippery one! I already discreetly let some of our friends know to call if they see her Jeep. I tried calling her phone but she won't answer. What do you want me to do? I'll do anything. I know I fucked up. Please don't kick me out of the club Cole" Drew begged in front of me. He looked genuinely sorry and scared to lose any chance he had to patch in.
I knew this wasn't his fault. It was mine for not calling her. For not being more forceful with Roxie when telling her no. Also, He didn't know Hailey was a runner, I did, and didn't tell him she might run if she felt cornered.
"Let's just find her. I want you to go to the cabin, keep her there until I get there and don't scare her, she runs when she's scared. Call me with updates and Drew? I won't hold it against you, her running, even though you were supposed to watch her, but if you fuck this up, you're done...No vote, you're out" I sternly told him as my eyes bore into him.
"I got it...I won't fuck it up Cole"
"You fuckin' better not" I warn him walking into my house.
I ignore everyone and go to my room. She took all of her stuff "fuck" I huff running a hand over my face.
Quickly I grabbed a clean shirt and hoodie and changed into them before throwing my cut back over it and sat down on the bed.
I decided to text her
Knowing she probably won't answer me back right away, I grab my bag and head out to the workshop for the meeting.
I'm going to have to explain what's going on, the urgency of finding her before Ryan does, while at the same time following through with the run.
As Ghost walked up, I held out my gun to him "Just put one in the back of my head, quick and painless please"
He broke out into a belly laugh and clapped me on the back "You're only getting started brother. Here's a question for you, tell me this, now that you've been bit by the bug, would you want it any other way?" He asked with an eyebrow raised.
That's a good question, it would be easier to just be doing my job but I'm not anymore, since I met her emotions
I never knew I had have been making an appearance. What do I want?
"Let's get up to the meeting. Right now, I just want to keep her out of that sick pricks hands"
