because it's the unknown what else could it be.

Opening the door just for a look,

what a shocker,

a shiver crawls up my spine like a raindrop on a car's windscreen.

It worse than knowing it's there.

Because then you'll never know if it was.

Knowing but not knowing at the same time can make your brain freeze.

Because perhaps if you turn around it's there,

smiling like a clown at a birthday party.

Wishing to take a peek, from underneath your sheets.

because it's safe.

Thinking maybe it's there but I never really noticed it.
