《I should care because?》The Truth
Advertisement
There is a reason why the heroine was so weak and yet was the heroine in the game. As we all know every small action has a reason and perhaps a story behind it. Sometimes good can be perceived as evil and vise versa. This is one of those stories
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Lark/ Silence's POV)
"Lark, this is your cousin Angel. Her parents just died so you should care for her," mother said warmly, yet her eyes said otherwise. I have never been my mother's nor fathers favorite, sometimes I see them looking longingly at other children. I suppose I can't blame them, I contradicted everything they want for a child. I skipped lessons, failed tests and wasn't exactly good at magick. I even often with the servants and pranked other of the nobilities children, and also practiced the dark arts. Though no one needed to know the last bit.
I looked at Angel and felt her innocent, weak aura surround me. Her eyes were still watery, but even that didn't take away from her beauty..........she wouldn't last very long. She is easy prey for spirits in need of a body, and with her beauty many men would fall in love with her. It would most likely result in jealous females. Ah, this isn't good, I'll have to do something about that.....
"M-Kay, but I gotta go. See ya," I quickly said, infuriating my mother with my 'improper' way of speaking. I ignored it though, it was a common occurrence, besides I had a lot to think about.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Mother found her kid," I said, sighing, "Pretty face she has. Big blue eyes and silky hair........innocent too.........no doubt a perfect lady."
"Those types wouldn't last long there," my best and only friend Aspen replied. We both knew what there meant. With her beauty, that's where she would most likely end up.
No one spoke for a few seconds, we just stayed there staring at the starry night sky.

"I'm going to die soon aren't I?" I asked, breaking the silence.
He didn't respond for a few moments, "If only others see your kindness."
"Say, when I die would you watch over them for me, keep them from getting killed and all? It would be a shame if they were killed after all my hard work."
".......I'll do my best," Aspen said quietly, "but you don't have to die."
I shifted my position to look at him, "someone has to sacrifice for the other to have something that's close to a happy ending."
"You could have a happy ending-"
"But I wouldn't be truly happy. Aspen, I'm going to die we should enjoy our time before we do."
'Why can't I be happy?'
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You think people are just gonna do everything for you? Who do you think you are? You aren't the queen yet," Lark sneered.
As someone gullible and a low self esteem Angel had already started to cry, "I wasn't I-I-"
"And you think cryings gonna fix things? Come back here when you've stopped crying."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Your so weak! To actually let yourself be kidnapped without any resistance! D'ya think that your always gonna be saved every time your in trouble? How many people d'ya think coulda died 'cause of you? And you actually let it happen? Enough with that crying! It doesn't do you any good."
"S-sorry, I-I didn't-"
"Sorry? Ya actually think that sorry is gonna cover up all the death's that could've happened?"
"N-no. I-it's just t-that I w-was caught o-of g-guard."
"Of course you would be caught of guard! Ya think that the kidnapper would announce there presence? What kind of idiot are you?" Of course Lark didn't mention the fact that she was the one who hired the kidnapper.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Focus! Keep your attention on the battle. Even one second could turn the tables understand?
"You have a good voice, use that to your advantage. For all we know you could serenade the monster to sleep."

"You got bullied by three weak girls? I taught you better than that! Don't give me the 'but their human' you think that a human wouldn't try and kill you on the spot?"
"So what if you faught against an assasine? You still got heavily wounded. If I didn't arrive on time you would've died!"
"You got bullied at school by three weak girls? I taught you better! So what if their your classmates? Fight back!"
"The prince asked you out? Good for you. Hurry up and practice more, just because the prince dotes on you doesn't mean that you can slack of."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Tommorow..........tonight is the last night that I can see you......."Lark softly said.
"Why do you have to go? Can't we run away?"
Lark laught bitterly, "if I did then I'd be chased through out the kingdom with a price on my head. How could I be happy then?"
"But I'll be there with you!"
"Aspen......it's okay you know. I want you to live a happy life, find a wife get married a-and have k-kids," she said, her voice slightly wavering with the last sentence.
Aspen got slightly annoyed, "I know you want your sister to live happily, but have you ever thought about how I feel about it? Do I not matter to you?!" he asked, his voice rising with every word that he spoke.
"It's not that it's just that Angel has the power of light. Have you ever thought about what that means? It means that Nagia's coming back, if I had to choose between you or the country.....I'm sorry. I have to choose the country."
"If only it could be the books that you so enjoy reading......"
"There is no such thing as a happy ending."
Why did you have to born with such a selfless heart?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Lark! What happened to you?" Aspen asked panicked. It was impossible for Lark to become this weak and withered within a day.
"Poison of course," Lark said, voice hoarse. She would die even if Aspen tried to save her.
"When I'm gone you have to promise me to live your life to the fullest. Get over my death quickly, yeah? Take care of Angel and my parents as well, understand?" she asked with a smile, using most of her strength to speak. Even then she couldn't say the words that she really wanted to say. She closed her eyes to take a rest.
Aspen stared at her, tears lingering near the edge of his eyes. He gently stroked her face and placed a gently kiss on her forehead. He stayed there until he heard the guards coming in.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The crowd stared at the execution silently. They jeered and threw things as they always did. The crown prince, they didn't care a whit for the spoiled child. However, for their future queen they were very indignant. How could someone hurt someone as kind as their princess?
Though, if she really were kind, perhaps she would've stopped this execution from happening....
"-scheming against the crown and harming the prince's beloved. Do you have any last words?"
"have courage....."
With that the axe was brought down upon Larks neck.
'I'm sorry, I can't do what you wished for.........afterall how can I live as a whole without my other half?'
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a bit too much, don't you think? To use a sword to cut such a fragile string...
Yet, there seems to have been a slight miscalculation. When the force of the sword cut a second string. Like this, a second life was lost.
Hopelessness..... that was all I could feel when waking up.
Raising my head, I saw a strange thing....the alley in which I grew up in. Where sickness ran rampant and hope was cruelly taken from the people.
Back to the beginning.....except.....she wasn't here.
Leaving me behind...
A lark that flew from the darkness, singing to the morning sun.
A hoarse, desolate laugh rang out in the alley.

There are other people running around all over the place fighting monsters for a living. Unfortunately for Tim, he seems to be one of those monsters. All while trying to keep alive a trio of adventurers hellbent on becoming legends. However, unfortunately for Tim, he is not the only one from earth to awaken in this world and the other Awakened aren't nearly so benevolent. Warning: The protagonist begins the story quite cowed and meek but progresses into a more assertive and situationally dominant personality. This is partly due to growth, but also a result of the character overcoming initial shock and longstanding depression. If you think I could have handled a segment better, by all means, point it out and provide your reasoning and suggestion. Everyone's experience of depression is different, and Tim's is a close representation of my own, so it won't necessarily 'vibe' with everyone.
