《Calamity Falls》Chapter 5

"What can I do you for John?" I asked him. " Nothing much, I'm just here to drop my resignation letter" he frowned dropping the letter in front of me
"What's wrong? Why? Was it something I did?" I asked looking up at him. "Oh no. You are a wonderful boss. It's just that I found a better job somewhere else. I would've loved working here and there as well but it's far from here and the job offered is better than the one here so..." he gulped
I saw Jace at the front door doing nothing, I guess waiting for us. She moved to reply but unfortunately she couldn't as I slammed in the front of a moving truck.
I looked up to find the kids being attended to. People had called the ambulance and they were currently treating the kids but Riele was left to bleed on her own. "Please save her" I pleaded to them
"Yes they are ok, alive and healthy, but we have a problem" the doctor said
"W-What's the problem?" I asked. "The impact of the accident left the woman in a condition" he sighed. "What does that mean?" I asked confused. "I'm sorry but she can't walk. She broke her spine colon due to the impact the car had on the truck" he explained.
"Easy does it" I said guiding the children into the house as I pushed Riele on her wheelchair. I closed the door, as we got in.
"I'll be in my room" Mary said walking up the stairs. Fortunately for the kids, their injuries were little compared to Riele
Mary came up with a busted lip and a minor injury on the head while Lee was ok but Daniel had a broken arm. A minor one, the Doctor said it'll heal up.

"What do you guys need?" I asked the boys but they shook their heads.
"We'll be doing our home works" they said walking up the stairs to their room but I knew they were lying. The accident left a mark on everyone, the boys being the worst
They were so young to experience an accident to that extent. I totally understand their predicament right now.
I looked at Riele who was still in deep thoughts as she was in the car. I crouched in front of her and that seemed to snap her out of her train of thoughts. "Riele, you need to stop that" I sighed knowing she was blaming herself for what happened
"It's not your fault" I watched as her eyes brimmed with fresh tears.
"How can you say that?" she said. "It's totally my fault. If I had just paid more attention, all of these wouldn't have happened. It's my fault Mary has a head injury; It's my fault Daniel fractured his arm; It's my fault, all mine. MY FAULT" she screamed as tears took total control over her body
"Look at me" I pulled her chin up to look at me straight in the eyes. "It's not your fault. You didn't know the truck was coming, it's not a crime not to know. At least be grateful that none of you is dead or suffering from a major injury or in coma" I explained, watching as she gulped but nodded her head
"Thank you" she whispered, wiping her nose with her handkerchief.
"Let's get you to bed" I said. I carried her to her room first then laid her down on the bed. After that, I went back downstairs to get her wheel chair then placed it beside her bed.
"I might need a nanny Jace" I heard Riele say, just as I was about to leave the room.

"Why?" I asked confused.
"To take care of me. I won't be able to do somethings myself" she explained.
"Ohk, do you know anyone?" I asked
"I'll ask Jade don't worry about that. You said you wanted to talk to me when I get back home. What's it?" she asked.
"Umm... I was just thinking, staying at home all by myself is tiring and boring. So I was wondering if I could get a job? If it's ok by you?" I added slightly afraid of what her answer might be
I don't know why I'm asking but I just felt like I should. You know those times you do things yet you don't know why you're doing them
"That's fantastic. I need a security guard at my company" she said.
"Security guard? Hold up, you have your own company?" I asked, shocked as she nodded. "That's really cool. Back to the job thing, I'll go for it" I smiled
"That'll be amazing. I'll let my secretary know so she'll do the necessary things" she explained.
"Alright, when should I begin?" I asked.
"Tomorrow" she said in a monotonous nature
I nodded, leaving the room then ventured into my room. I went to take a shower then came out with just boxers. I laid down on the bed to sleep when something hit me. "I'll ask Jade don't worry about that", those were the exact things Riele said
I fell in a blur of images, flashing past me in series of black and white. "Jade" I gasped out for air as sweat drenched my entire body making the bed sheets stick to my body. I know who Jade is but that's only one part of the puzzle solved; More to go. I closed my eyes finally able to sleep after the nostalgic memories that filled me up.
A/N: So short, I'm deeply sorry. I've been terribly busy that most of you think I'm mad at you or ignoring you. Well I'm not, school has just been taking up most of my time. Let's just hope I'll have the time to update
Pardon me if there are grammar errors or spelling errors, I'll edit it ofc
