the other boys began waking up, one after the other piling out of the rooms. they saw changbin and jisung sitting together with worried expressions on their faces and all soon realized the only one unaccounted for was felix.
"where's lixie?" chan asked as he looked around.
"here." felix said as he came out of the bathroom. his eyes were slightly red and puffy from crying, but he tried not to let changbin see.
"lix, what happened?" chan whispered to the boy.
"im exhausted." felix yawned, "let's have coffee so i can wake up!"
instantly felix turned back on his bright personality and acted as though nothing happened.
changbin felt himself compelled to watch the boy, afraid if he looked away felix would begin to crumble and he would miss it.
"lix," changbin said softly as he walked up to the boy.
"oh hi binnie, did you sleep well?" felix smiled at the boy, the nickname sending a sharp pain through changbin's heart.
"binnie..." changbin whispered, "i haven't heard you say that to me in awhile."
"yeah, cause i was gone all summer. you feeling okay?" felix asked teasingly.
"yeah, sorry... uh... let's go get coffee." changbin smiled, trying hard to not make it awkward.
chan watched felix and changbin interact and he immediately felt his skin boil. he wanted to be the one that made felix happy, yet felix was still hung up on changbin.
"here you go lixie." chan said as he handed a cup of coffee to felix he made specifically for the boy.
"thanks channie." felix smiled as he leaned into the boy, hugging him warmly.
"did you sleep well sunshine?" chan asked as he rustled the boys fluffy hair.
"i slept great, did you?" felix asked in response.

"yeah, for once i did. probably because you were there." chan said shyly.
felix smiled, happy he could at least do something useful for one person.
changbin listened in on the conversation, letting out a heavy sigh because of it.
"that's why you slept poorly i guess." jisung whispered to changbin.
"shut up jisung." changbin sounded defeated, but that wouldn't stop jisung.
"no, you deserve it. hyunjin is the only one who seems to feel some sort of sympathy for you. i don't even know why he does. maybe your dreams will come true and he'll like you back. just don't be an asshole about it like last time." jisung frowned with furrowed eyebrows.
"whatever jisung." changbin walked away from the latter, tired of being reemed out over something that happened months ago.
"you okay?" hyunjin asked as changbin walked by him.
"fine." changbin responded harshly, but hyunjin wasnt going to let it go that easily.
he grabbed onto changbin's wrist, pulling him away from the rest of the boys so they could speak privately.
"is it because of chan and felix?" hyunjin asked.
"n-no!" changbin came off a bit defensive, convincing hyunjin he was right.
"mhmm sure." hyunjin smirked.
"i don't care about felix anymore!" changbin said a bit too loudly, causing all heads to turn.
"tell us how you really feel changbin." minho said with a harsh and cold tone.
"i uh—" changbin looked around anxiously, watching the annoyed expressions of all his friends.
"nice to know you don't care about one of your friends." jeongin folded his arms as he started at changbin in annoyance.
"but i didn't—"
"it's okay changbin, i know what you meant. don't be mad at him guys, he's just trying to get you all to see he's moved on. him and i are broken up, let's stop talking about changbin and i as a couple and let's only refer to us as friends." felix cut in saving changbin from further harassment.

"i do care about you felix." changbin stated.
"as a friend, i know." felix said, his chest hurting way more than he let on. he felt the lump in his throat and the burning of his eyes from holding back tears.
"yes, exactly." changbin let out a breath of relief that at least felix understood what he meant. the last thing he wanted was to continue to hurt the boy, but it was far too late for that.

8 192Alive?
In the ruins of a once glorious city, a mage awakens. As the sole survivor(?) of the cataclysm that destroyed his entire species, he’s forced to adapt. While learning the intricacies of his new body, he must first carve out a place for himself in a familiar yet foreign world before he can set out to reclaim his heritage. I cannot stress this enough: the character is not human, do not expect him to react like one. I know the hand on the cover only has five finger, but I doubt I am going to find a royalty free radiography with two perfectly functional thumbs placed in a sensible way anytime soon. The rewrite is finished. Beta readers are welcomed and I am still wondering whether I should put the sci-fi tag or not.
