《When Fireflies Diminish | Poetry》22 | Sea Pebbles

Jewels of the sea upon the shore wash,

Colourful hues that fit in my soft palms,

And I trace every line and every spot,

Wonder-filled about nature's palette

That looks so pretty and bold.

I grab some shiny ones for my own,

To watch them at night and grow warm.

Or to take them when I've moved on,

To remind myself of my true home

To close my eyes and hear the sea,

The seagulls, the wetness on my feet.

Others I throw back at the deep,

Watch as they sink below lost in the sea,

A playful smile on my cold and wet lips,

For the pebbles were a treasure bestowed

Upon us to make our souls more serene.
