《My Step Brother Is A Player!©》3- White roses

Sleep was impossible last night. All I heard was Tristan laughing so loudly as he watch this show off the TV. I tried to block out the noise using a pillow over my ears but it was like he had a mega phone as he cackled. I told him to shut the hell up a few times but he never did, after repeating myself a million times, I just gave up.
I think I had 2 hours of sleep then our parents came back to the cabin at around 3 in the morning and I haven't had my beauty sleep yet. Tristan snored like snorlax and I was so tempted to suffocate him in his sleep so bad with a pillow but that never happened because he kind of looked cute when he sleeps and I'm not that evil. Wait! What am I freaking saying? No! He's not cute! My good side just won against my evil side and convinced me that it was a bad idea.
My eyes were drooping down, almost asleep when my mom decided to barged in our room without any notice and just told us that we have to pack up and go back home. I mentally cursed her and pretended to be sleeping instead of obeying. Haha...
"Audrey! Tristan! Come on get up! Let's go," I'm surprised that my mom has energy and enthusiasm when she came back here early this morning. She shook my shoulder roughly and I groaned. "Audrey, wake up!" Shaking me harder this time until my whole body vibrated.
"I'm up! I'm up!" I shoved her hand off me and looked at my phone for the time; 7:52, I exhaled and sat up on the couch. Mom was trying to wake up Tristan but he covered himself with the sheets, smart ass.
"Tristan, can you please get up? Your father and I have to attend a meeting in less than 5 hours," Mom cried, I chuckled a little but she gave me a warning look. This is all her fault, it was her idea anyways coming here to the beach and all.
"Okay, can you leave? I'll get ready now," Tristan's voice was muffled through the sheets covering him but his voice was rasp which I never heard from him before, and it was kinda... Don't go there. It wasn't sexy alright!
"Alright, we'll wait for you two in the car," She said directly to us but we didn't answer. I leaned back on the couch and rested my head on the back rest. The door opened and immediately shut close when mom left our room. My eyes were beginning to close again and I was drifting to sleep when I sensed someone in front of me.
"Morning babe," Tristan's voice sounded so close and I peeked one eye open to find his face inches away from mine.
"Ah fuck!" I shoved his face away and fanned the air because of his morning breath which smelled like a dead rat. "Did you eat garbage or what?" Then I noticed that he was only wearing his boxers that hung low on his hips and I had a full view of his abs. I mean full! Like a movie theatre view.
"Nah, it's not that bad," He placed his palm close to his mouth and breathed out, I pushed his hands and it made him slap himself on the face. "Gosh Audrey! What did I do to you to deserve your wrath?" He asked as he walked closer to me.
"I just hate you," I shrugged, backing away slowly once I stood up then the wall hit my back. Shit.

Tristan placed both his arms above my shoulder, pinning his hands on the wall, each beside my head. My instinct said that I should scream 'rape' and run away but nothing functioned at the moment. He leaned his head closer and I squeezed my eyes shut, moving my head to the side so he won't be able to kiss me.
"Move. Away. Tristan." I said through gritted teeth, turning my head back to him. We both made a long eye contact as if he was daring me to do anything but I just stood there not moving, staring at him. He suddenly chuckled and backed off my body.
"You're funny babe," Tristan said, still making fun of me. He's just intimidating you Audrey, nothing to worry about, I whispered to my self.
"Stop calling me that! You can maybe call me 'sis' instead of 'babe'?" Well I don't want him calling me any name except for my real one but it's better than babe.
"No! I don't see you as my sister though," He sauntered over the bed and wore his ragged jeans. I grabbed my bag and ignored his statement, walking out the room and leaving him behind. What the hell does 'I don't see you as my sister though' mean? He's making me confused as hell but neither do I see him as my brother.
------------------------
Mom woke me up the second time today when we were back to the house. Tristan was staring at me when I cracked my eyes open but I didn't say anything and got off the car
. I entered my house and walked straight to my bedroom, shutting the door closed behind me.
God I'm so tired and a good nap would be perfect right now. I dumped my bag down near the desk and I flopped on my bed. My soft, plush, comfortable bed, I snuggled up with my comforter as the cool air blasted through the vent. This feels much better than the cabin last night.
Something was ringing and I forced myself to wake up. I grabbed my phone beside my pillow and answered without looking at the caller ID.
"Hello?" My voice was groggy and I stifled a yawn.
"Hi," Lucas's voice sounded shy and I thought it was adorable.
"Lucas! What's up?" I rubbed my crusty eyes and fluffed my hair a bit. Oh right! Were supposed to hang out today!
"Nothing, just waiting here. So... what time do you want me to pick you up?" He asked and my tummy did a somersault.
"Like, in thirty?" I responded as I scrambled out my bed, my foot got tangled with the blanket and I tripped on the floor making a huge thumped sound that sounded embarrassing.
"Are you okay Audrey?" Oh crap! He heard that? My cheeks heat up in embarrassment and I stammered.
"Uh... Yeah, fine. Well my house is 95212, just walk in, don't worry about the gates." I said as I browse through my clothes, looking for the perfect outfit for tonight. "Hey, uhm where are you taking me?" I asked as I pull out different outfits.
"I thought we're just hanging out?" I sensed that he was smirking with the tone of his voice and I blushed harder.
"Oh, uhm, well, sorry, yeah uhm..." I ran out of words and Lucas chuckled. He makes me speechless.
"Just wear something casual, I haven't even decided yet to where I'm taking you," I grinned and found the perfect outfit. "Go get ready! I'll be there in thirty,"

"See you then, bye," Then I hung up.
Ohmigawd! I'm going out with Lucas!! Or I should say 'hang out'? Even though I don't know him that well I already liked him since the day I saw him. I laid out my outfit on my bed and took a quick shower so I'll be more awake.
Tristan was in my bedroom when I finished polishing myself up, and he was lounging on top of my clothes which made me extremely pissed.
"Get off my bed asshole!" I shouted. He was ogling my body and I realized I have nothing on except a towel that reached mid my thighs and showed off a lot of skin.
"Dayum! C'mon Audrey, just one time," I masked on a horrified expression and I backed away slowly.
"One time what?" If he's saying that we should have sex I will freaking smash his head into the wall.
"You know what," His eyes skimmed down my chest then thighs as he licked his bottom lip.
"Fuck no! You're stupid and I won't have sex with someone stupid!" Why did I say that. I'm so stupid myself. His brows shot up high and he had this mischievous grin on his face.
"Who said anything about sex?" Tristan said amused by my statement. Heat crawled up my neck and it started burning and I frowned at him. Is today embarrass Audrey day or something?
"Uhm... I'm assuming you want to... Well..." I was freaking out because my assumption was so wrong. He laughed at me when I couldn't explain.
"Holy! Babe! And FYI I'm not stupid, I got straight A's and a few B's my entire life so, not stupid," He smirked at me, pointing at his brain and I face palmed myself.
"I don't give a shit! Get out of my room!" I snatched my sweater off my desk chair and hit him with it until he get off of my bed.
"Alright! Stop, stop!" He caught the other end of my sweatshirt and yanked it out of my grip. "You need to take a chill pill babe," Tristan leaned down to whisper, his breath tickled along my neck and I shivered. He slapped my ass as he walked towards the door, my fist clenched tightly.
"Annoying bitch," I muttered under my breath.
I set my anger aside and started getting ready, he already waisted 5 minutes of my time, I'm not wasting another second. I put on my strawberry coloured pullover from Free People, gooding shorts from Ralph Lauren, a denim vest from Abercrombie&Fitch and just a pink skate shoes for my feet.
The door bell rang when I was almost finishing up my mascara then I rushed down the stairs to see Lucas face to face with Tristan. Lucas looked confused so I ran across the house to reach the door.
"Hey Audrey," Lucas greeted and I attacked him for a hug. It was a little weird because I don't really know him that well but my body just reacted instantly. "Okay, I got these for you," I then pulled back and he held out a bouquet of white roses and it didn't look like the cheap kind, it was specially arranged. My mouth hung open as I looked at him then the roses. Awwww! That's the sweetest thing someone had ever done to me. Tristan was still standing their just observing us, or should I say me.
"Aww! Thanks! This is the sweetest thing ever!" I squealed in happiness.
"Is this the Lucas guy?" Tristan finally said something after a couple of minutes standing there like a statue.
"Yeah I'm Lucas," Lucas said as he nodded towards Tristan. "And you are?" He asked, lost at the moment to why a guy like Tristan is in my house, I mean he's hot according to the female population except for me, so Lucas was probably wondering why he's here.
"I'm Tristan, her step brother," Tristan stuck out his thumb to point me out but he wasn't all happy when he addressed himself as my step brother. Our maid walked in our direction and I passed her the bouquet, telling her to put it in a vase and she nodded in agreement.
"Well we should get going, now that you know each other." I said, moving towards Lucas.
"Where are you going?" Tristan asked in confusion.
"I'm going out, isn't that too obvious?" I looked at him with a serious expression and he just frowned.
"Does Marissa know?" I was surprised that he asked and cares if my mom knows, I shook my head and started walking off. Why is he so concern about it? I brushed off the ideas popping in my head and just smiled at Lucas, he grinned at me. He looked so hot, with those crystal blue eyes. I'm one lucky girl.
Lucas owns a Corvette C7 and he has good taste in cars. He opened the door for me and I let myself in. Holy! The interior of the car was spotless and polished clean, I guess he loves his car.
The whole drive was already fun and I can talk to him for hours and not get bored a single second. He has this heavenly laugh and I'm so attracted to him, can't compare him to anyone.
We stopped by a pizza place and ordered a large box of pepperoni pizza and I wasn't sure if his friends were hanging out with us because two people can't finish that whole box, he got 2 bottles of sodas and carried the pizza towards his car.
"Aren't we gonna eat first?" I asked him but he just continued walking.
"Yeah we are," Lucas winked at me and I followed behind him.
The Corvette roared alive and my tummy grumbled alive too. I thought we were gonna eat but I guess he has something else in mind. I wouldn't tell him that I'm dying from hunger because that will be a turn off for sure.
After ten minutes of driving, he killed the engine and he brought me to some place that I wasn't familiar with. I popped the door open and got out of his car as I stretch but froze. Oh my God! The view is amazing and breath taking and... falling hazard? We were at a cliff but he parked far enough to prevent ourselves from falling. I can see the whole California state from here and I stood still on my feet.
"Wow Lucas! Its beautiful," I said as I admire the panorama site. Lucas stood beside me, hands shove in his pocket as he share the view with me.
"I know," He didn't take his eyes off the landscape and I was curious about what he's thinking about right now. I wish I can just get into a guys head and just read it off or something.
"Are you planning to push me off that's why you brought me here?" I asked half jokingly and he smiled at me.
"Yeah, then I'll fly off and catch you," Lucas flirted, I bit my bottom lip as I grin. He grabbed my hand and I was surprised by it. I looked at him and we locked eyes for a few seconds. His smile deepen and he tugged me towards the hood. "Wait here," I stood in front of his car and waited. He turned on the stereo and music filled the surrounding.
He walked back with the pizza box and two sodas, placing it on top of the car hood, he hoisted himself up as he sat beside the food. I quirked my brows and he just let out a hand to help me up. I struggled a bit, positioning myself on the other side of the car.
I pulled out a slice and started eating. Thank God for this delicious Italian cuisine because I would've passed out without it.
"Do you bring all your dates here?" I asked stupidly. Well he probably does, duh!
"No, You're the first one," My cheeks heat up instantly so I gulped down my root beer to cool down my face.
Lucas almost finished the whole box and I only ate 3 slices, I think. The sun was setting over the horizon and it was the most romantic thing that had ever happened to me. He tossed the box on the ground and scooted over to me.
"Lucas, I don't know what to say, this is just simply perfect and I couldn't ask for anything better, it's so... romantic." I said the last part shyly because this is not really a date, just hanging out apparently. I looked over to him and he was staring at my eyes. My head went blank and I stared back.
"You are simply perfect," He slowly leaned down and my heart pounded over my chest, butterflies invaded my stomach and I was having a mini heart attack. Is he gonna kiss me?! He's gonna kiss me! My eyes slowly closed and I felt his soft lips touch mine. Sparks were flying inside of me and I felt numb. He pulled my neck closer and I gave in. Were not really making out but it's close to that, tongues weren't involved though.
I felt like I was dreaming when he pulled back and I was lost for a second. I pursed my lips and blushed deeply. I fished for my phone as it rang in my back pocket and looked at the caller ID. Mom.
"Hey mom?" I glanced at Lucas who was smirking at me and I smiled.
"Where are you? And who's the roses in the vase from?" She asked curiously. I guess Tristan never filled them in.
"I'm somewhere and it's from Lucas," I said with a sigh.
"Come home now," Mom wasn't pissed but she sounded close.
"But-" I started and she cut me off.
"Audrey, come home now. No buts," Now she's annoyed. I don't know what I did but whatever it is, it made her mad.
"Why?" Lucas looked concerned now and I gave him a pout.
"You never told me anything about leaving, didn't even give me a heads up, what did I say about going out?" I didn't respond because I never really paid any attention when she talked about rules. Mom sighed and continued on. "Don't go any where without telling me," I rolled my eyes at what she said. "And now you're going home," But I don't want to go home.
"Fine," I huffed out because there's no point in begging, she'll just say no.
"I'm expecting you to be home in an hour," She said and I hung up. Stupid rules! I'm freaking old enough to go any where without her permission for heavens sake! I lai my head on Lucas shoulder and he stiffen then relaxed, wrapping an arm around my shoulder.
"I have to get home because I didn't tell her I was going out," I really hate this because I'm having a best time with him and my mom has to ruin it, they have to ruin it for me.
"Okay, can we stay for a few minutes?" He asked and I nodded. We watched the stars twinkle and I can't believe I kissed him!
Lucas drove me back home and I wasn't happy at all. He parked his car in the side walk and jogged over to open the door for me, walking me over to my house.
"So... I had loads of fun today," He said, rubbing the back of his neck. The lights illuminated his face and he looked gorgeous.
"Me too," I said awkwardly. "Well I better go in before I get in trouble," I pointed towards the front door and he just nodded, his face fell a little like I was missing something to call it a night.
"I should go too, good night Audrey," He turned and started to walk away but I just can't let him leave like this.
"Lucas! Wait!" He turned around and I closed the space between us. I pressed my lips on his without hesitation and kissed him forcefully, he held my hips for support and my hands rested on his buff chest.
I broke the magical moment and his eyes fluttered open. My breath caught as I looked at him because he is too sexy.
"Night," I sucked on my bottom lip and rushed over to open the door, closing it shut behind me. I feel like a total idiot! Why did I do that? I peeked over the side window of the door and Lucas was still standing there grinning like an idiot, he shook his head while smiling and turned away, doing a happy dance and a fist pump as he throttled out of my property. I smiled dumbly and just watched his car go.
"What the hell is wrong with him?" I jumped in surprise when Tristan was instantly beside me as he ate something off the bowl he's holding.
"None of your business!" I was still smiling and he looked at me weirdly.
"Oh! You guys kissed didn't you?" My head wandered off and the kissed replayed in my head, sigh. "Audrey? Hello! Babe?" Tristan shook my shoulders and snapped out of my trance.
"What? Oh... Well yeah," I grinned at myself. He smirked at me and shoved in another spoon of cereals in his mouth.
"Was it a good kiss?" Tristan chewed and asked curiously. He's obviously looking for a gossip.
"Course it was," I bit my bottom lip and blushed.
"Can you show me how good it was?" He smooched out his lips and leaned closer to me. I'm not that stupid and love struck to kiss Tristan! Hell no. My brows puckered and I shoved his lips away but I can't seriously be mad because I'm just too happy.
"I'm not dumb Tristan," I said as I head towards the kitchen. Mom was sitting on one of the stool, drinking a glass of red wine. "Mom?" I stood a few feet away from her and Tristan leaned his hips on the island top.
"Hey sweetie," She greeted me half asleep.
"Hey, you should head off to bed," I grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and gulped it down. My step brother was staring at my neck as he slowly ate his food. Ugh! What's his problem?
"Are you alright? Where did the roses came from?" Mom said drunkenly. Steven is probably sleeping by now.
"Yeah, I'm fine mom and I told you it's from Lucas," I leaned on the island and watched her closely.
"Where's Lucas?"

The Adventures of Alan
What happens when a university professor somehow ends up in another world, where magic bends the laws of nature? Alan is, albeit unwillingly, about to find out. As a professor of physics, he has a decent understanding of how the world works, or so he likes to think. Armed only with his knowledge, Alan is thrown into a world very different from his own. In his new reality, he will meet both friends and foe, he will seek knowledge, he will build power, and perhaps he will even find love again? Follow Alan through his adventures, and find out for yourselves how he deals with the challenges thrown at him by a new world, while struggling with the issues brought with him from his old one. * Author’s note: A fair warning. This is the first time I’ve published anything, and basically the first time I’ve written anything more than mandatory school-stuff. The story will probably have inconsistencies, grammatical errors (not my native tongue, though that excuse is getting old), and potentially confusing (missing?) plot. I will naturally do my best to write something worth reading, but my main goal in writing this story is to have fun and explore the limits of my own creativity. My hope in publishing it here, is that I’ll reach someone who enjoy the story, and can push me forward towards writing more, as it is difficult at times to find the motivation to write just for myself. Additionally, I can’t really promise to have regular updates, as I have a full-time job that often likes to take the ‘full-time’ part literally, and a sporadic social life that occasionally surprises me (happy surprises mostly, so I shouldn’t complain). I’ll aim for once a week to start with, and take it from there. Happy reading! Cover photo by Jeff Hire (/photographer/gun4hire-58415), from https://freeimages.com/.

NOVA INTERIT.US
It's 2063, and the town along with much of the nation are in disarray. The decay started years before the Great Event. Our town still had hope thanks to the five families, who'd created a blockchain based water distribution system for the locals, a valuable secret hidden from the Global Water Commission and their network of mercenaries. Earlier in the mid-2040's, right after the state secessions of Idaho, Montana, and Texas, the Global Council of Water Commissioners made their deals and moved into towns throughout the country. They called it "the integration." The Commission and their contractors integrated with municipal water departments, using their organized network to invade like parasites on local services. It all coincided with the 29th Amendment to the United States Constitution, later referred to as the Regional Trident Plan. Nova is a story about survival, power structures, the turning of relationships, and the networking between people and the systems to which they belong. It’s about A.I. blockchain possibility, and its potential for human betterment versus our detriment. It’s about the question of whether or not we need to be saved from ourselves, and by who or what? The Great Event at the end of the first chapter might just be what actually saves us. The epilogue will take place in 2517. This scene is fully sketched and the full arc of the novel is set. I expect to finish Nova Interitus by summer of 2023. This is realist hard-sci-fi dystopian fiction. I hope you find Nova to be a challenging and consuming story. This is not something I planned to write. It all came to me in a dream and I haven't been able to stop writing it. This Royal Road posting is basically a beta test with chapters and drafts to get some feedback and see if there's any readership for this narrative. For the full experience read Nova on Substack. I will be narrating a podcast version later this year there. https://novainteritus.substack.com/

My Poetry
So I think some of you know that I already write poetry. Most of my poetry is free verse. I thought why not go ahead and just make a poetry book in here. Some of this is poetry I've already written, others are brand new. God I'm really nervous about this, I don't usually share my poetry.
